The prophets including Daniel spoke of the time where several world empires would arise and fall including the Babylonian kingdom, Medes and Persians, Roman Empire, and Saladin and the Muslims which went in consecutive order for the past few millennia. The people of Israel becoming a nation after The Holocaust in 1948 (ironically the melting point of gold as God compares Israel to gold that's tested in fire in Zechariah 13:8 and Jeremiah 16:15) exactly how Jesus The Christ said would happen since God us everything to come in The Scriptures and not just because people were working towards as Atheists claim which are impossible for any regular man to predict. Evolution makes no sense when nothing has evolved after thousands of years of human history and supposedly the first creature came from primordial sludge several millions of years ago funny how they won't believe that God an Eternal Almighty Spirit Being created us from the Earth) which came from a supermassive expansion of matter at high temperature that inexplicably created everything in the known universe that supposedly came from nothing billions of years ago. Evolution requires life to already exist in order to take any effect in living organisms so it doesn't account for the existence of Life and reality. Watanabe’s reasoning for that was beautiful, he said something along the lines of “Samurai and rappers have a lot in common, one forges their destiny through one sword, while the other forges their destiny through one microphone”

The reason it's more subtle is cause they made a deliberate effort (Nujabes and Tsutchie) to blend traditional Japanese influences in with the instrumentals.

i cant remember if this happened in that episode or in the finale when mugen is close to death but i love the idea of demonstrating a 2d character getting close to death by breaking the animation down into black and white sketches... that communicates that idea so much more than any sad music or blood could.

Yeah it ended ok. Of course I think people felt that way because we didn't want it to end, this show was amazing and I've never come close to another like it. It was sad ending in such a short time. I understand though that dragging it it out too long once the main plot or charater development is finished, would could have potentially degraded the show.

Underrated comment

I think that is due to us being used to closure and happy endings in stories this one felt off. But in a way it kind of represents that open ended way of life

It does work like all of shinichiro watanabe's works though where until you've been through a few episodes to get attached to the characters it's kind of hard to care what's happening. Champloo makes it a bit easier by having the sickest action in tv anime but still. After you do get invested you won't put it down.

@@ScamboliReviews haven't re-watched since 2014 but I remember thinking the ending was a let down. Definitely doesn't compare to Bebop's ending.

Yes there wasn't much emotion in it but if you look at the whole context of the show, they're basically 3 people that don't know each other going through a single journey together, every episode is one brief encounter with people they don't know and they'll never meet again, and so the ending treated their whole journey together the same way, just a small part of their lives shared with interesting strangers.
