Making a perfect brew of Scandinavian Egg Coffee: The egg mixed into the coffee grounds removes impurities, creates a light creamy taste, and a beautiful amber colour
My recipe
3 tablespoons coffee of your choice
1 egg
4 cups of water
mix the coffee and egg to create a paste
Boil the water
Add the coffee/egg mixture to the water and boil for 3 minutes
Rest for 1 minute
Serve and Enjoy

Being raised in a Scandinavian home, this is the coffee always had and still make. One spoon of coffee per cup of water and one spoonful "For the pot" my grandma would say. You als do it wrong in throwing your shell away. Mix it in with your egg and ground coffee! That shell adds lime which helps get rid of the bitter taste. Decent egg coffee must have the shell! Then when it had boiled 3 minutes (five if you want it darker) she'd make the fire out. Then we add one cup of cold water pouring it in slowly. The cold water makes all ground go to the bottom of the pot so your coffee is perfectly clear. This way you ended up with one more cup of coffee than what you planned for with the water you first put in so suppose that's the "One for the pot" idea. I've done like you but find adding that cup of cold water at the end makes much clearer coffee.

I used to make my coffee this way. I would add the egg to coffee grounds. Then when the water boiled in my Corningware coffee pot, I would add the egg/coffee mixture. I would wait until the mixture would come to the top. The best coffee I ever had. Thinking about going back to this way. You just can't beat the taste!

That is the oddest thing I have seen done to coffee yet I believe lol. The coffee used I am assuming is not instant coffee? If so that then would def seem to solve a lot of the complaints I have about cowboy coffee. Seems it gathered up the majority of the grounds. Def will be giving this a go on my Nov 16th 3 day Memorial Camp. Thanks for sharing. ~Ken~

Hey BK. Besides really liking this video and the explanation you gave to one of your subscribers I left you another comment on the one that you responded to. I’ve found that you tube may not notify you of additional comments and just wanted to add something else to that. So please take a look and still amazed that you’re not at 2-3 thousand subs. ATB Mike

Backcountry King Outdoors. Honestly BK there really none that I don’t like. I remember last month when I asked what happened to you not going to your shelter and you told me about the dead decaying cow and the ticks. I always dig your cooking videos for one, and I enjoyed the family video hike to the cabin which I’m sure would be kind of hard to get all family members on board with their and your schedule. Really like your gear reviews. I remember when you did the Helle Temagami review which was a knife I was considering and after your review I didn’t get that knife. Really,I enjoy whatever you put out. As far as increasing your subs, have you ever thought about a GAW? It doesn’t have to be over the top, maybe like a 1k sub drive or 1500. Again just a thought

Nice thing to learn. But I am kinda confused here. What sort of impurities are we talking about? I mean coffee is just coffee, right?
@BackcountryKing
@BackcountryKing 4 жыл бұрын
Coffee is suposed to.be just coffee but coffee makers around the world have been known to add the followimg to "dilute" pure coffee and get more coffee to sell which can be parts of the coffee plants, Wood, twigs, sticks, parchment, husks, whole coffee berries or even clumps of earth that are almost the same color as coffee have been found.

Backcountry King Outdoors thanks for the explanation bro. What you have said, I presume it only applies to ground coffee powder and not coffee beans right? I still buy ground coffee but was thinking of getting beans to roast and grind in the woods.
@BackcountryKing
@BackcountryKing 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah its mainly ground coffee and they they throw in extras - more volume equals more bags of coffee. But beans are always straight up pure coffee!

Thanks BK for sharing your video. I’m gonna try this ,but with my coffee I have to use cream and a sweetener. I’ve tried drinking coffee black, and I just can’t. Although, when I make your recipe, I will try some your way. ATB my friend and cheers 🍻 Mike

Backcountry King Outdoors I was just looking at some of your playlists and I’m fricken amazed that you don’t have like 2000 subs. I actually look forward to your videos and always give it’s 👍. Sometimes ,when you put out a longer video, like the time you and your family hiked to the cabin,I was diggin the longer video. Maybe once every two months you can do a longer video. Although I realize that winter is right around the corner it’s gonna be difficult to get out. Just saying Thanks for putting out videos that I enjoy. Greetings from Chicago and ATB to you and your family. Mike

You forgot to put the shells in. The shells alkalinity with reverse the bitterness.

Interesting. However, for a good "real" coffee you should never boil it. Boiling the grains transform the whole thing. It really is not coffee anymore if you boil it.
