The funny part is, they made this bit _WORSE_ in the show because the show reduced the characters' skillsets. In the actual campaign... Scanlan simply teleported them inside, because he has Dimension Door. He doesn't have that here in the show, so they needed another way inside.

You start out investigating a burned down village in pursuit of a demonic dragon and 2 hours later end up starting a proletariat uprising to unionize brothels workers.

He basically saved the day more than once throughout the campaign because Sam is god-tier in thinking ahead. I personally am looking forward to the final fight against for the final battle. Scanlan is the ONLY reason they won that fight.

The series is an adaptation of Critical Role's first campaign, which started as Pathfinder but migrated to D&D fifth edition. So yeah, it's an ancient black dragon.

She does have some low-level magic, but it tends to be magic that subtly improves her Ranger skills (e.g., stealth, tracking, survival, weapon damage). The most visible effects in this series have been with her arrows (e.g., Ensnaring Strike, Conjure Barrage). Rewind and you'll see. After she acquires the Fenthras bow, however, the big hits come from the bow instead of her.

In the campaign they have a robe of infinite twine. Don't know if it would technically be able to reach that far in an a few seconds but certainly farther than normal 🤷‍♂
