For the first minute or so I thought the interviewer had one arm and was wondering how he was going to play the guitar....LOL. Great interview, and Jeffs bass and his playing sound awesome.

Thank you Mr Berlin, you make a ton of sense. I first heard you on “Feels good to me”, your playing blew me away, and the musicians appearing with you too. I’ve recently borrowed one of your rithimics from a friend. Over the years I’ve owned about 24 basses inc a DB, and your signature model is not only up there with the best, but great value for money. Thanks again

I started playing electric bass because of rock and roll. I was probably 13. I had a buddy across the street who was learning guitar. Music was in my house on the record player via my schizophrenic (GOD BLESS HER) mother and my brothers. So I had it coming from all directions. Thankfully my buddy and I were in the school music program as Bass Violin players. I was beyond scrawny so I’m not sure how that happened. They needed viola players! So we had 2 vectors of music education. One which involved learning by ear and the other by reading the black dots. I didn’t always see the value in the latter because of my perception about what was cool. I eventually went to university where I was force fed music theory. Thank God! Had I just learned and played bass parts,my musical knowledge (my opinion) would have suffered tremendously. Jeff Berlin along with a few others like Joe Hubbard and Rick Beato are providing a great service thru their music education platforms. Drink deeply from the well and grow.

Thank You for posting this video, I enjoyed it very much. I’d been playing electric bass for about 3 years when I first heard Jeff’s playing on Bill Bruford’s “One of a Kind” album, which absolutely floored me. And his playing still amazes me. I also have to thank Jeff for “introducing” me to Jack Bruce’s music. I read an interview with Jeff where he cited Jack Bruce as a major influence on his playing when he was in his teens, so I started listening to Cream, then I started listening to Jack’s incredible music recorded after Cream broke up.
