The more air and fuel there is in the spark gap, the more resistance it has electrically. So once it hits a given amount of airflow (boost and temp will affect it) the path of least resistance may be through a pinhole in the plug wires. Good find! Always refreshing when it ends up being something simple.

It's funny, early in the video when y'all were discussing what could be the problem causing the jerky rpm curve on boost, I was thinking out loud that there was probably something wrong with either the coils, wires, or plugs. Y'all went from thinking it was the fuel, to tune, to dead cylinder and so on. I was talking at my phone, hoping y'all could hear me, there's something wrong with the ignition system! 😂 Then y'all changed the wires out and made another pull. When I heard that engine smoothly reach peak power without a stutter or stumble, and saw Cleeter's hand fly up, I yelled "hell freaking yeah!" at my phone. Good to see a cheap simple fix got the Supra back to normal. Such a sick car btw. Please don't break her. 😢

@@badgermetal I had my buddy bring his Corvette over looking for a problem throwing a bunch of codes. Mechanic couldn't figure it out. It was getting dark out but I had him fire it up and noticed the problem right away. You could see the wire arcing right through the boot. It was insane because the wire looked perfect just like these ones. Put new wires on, cleared the codes and it ran perfect with no codes after that. The electronics on these modern cars really don't like those high voltages zipping all over.

Back when I was tweaking my Supra people were switching to LS coils and I hated the plug wires. I switched to motorcycle coils off of a liter bike, worked great but needed plugs you could unscrew the back off of. Not making this kind of power but it was a really clean install. Started seeing Supras at MIR for the import races doing the same not long afterwards lol. Might be worth a shot if you want to get direct coil on plug :) P.S. The handbrake button works great for anti-lag. Press the button, lift the handle just enough to trigger the light, get anti-lag. Drop the handle and off you go!

Hey guys. Glad you found the minor issue. Personally, with boosted cars, I see the actual boots over the plugs fail to seal the spark to the plug ground. A little dielectric grease on the boots before you install them works wonders. Just my 2cents. Love your channel Cleet.

There's something strange going on in the aftermarket parts industry. I've been getting everything from bad electrical components to bad rotors and pads. I have a few theories but I won't speculate. Even if you visually inspect everything you're still going to run into bad parts. It used to happen once in a while but it's been a weekly occurrence lately.

They’d been cutting as much money out of stuff as possible for a long time. Then around Covid times a lot of things happened which tended to drive quality down. Those pieces will take a while to work through the system even if they’re producing good stuff now.

I’ve been chasing down a few issues on my brothers built motor truck, it wants to sometimes jump forward at a stop, then getting onto the highway it would miss enough to make a nice bang from the exhuast and coolant temps would randomly jump up and down. After days of checking sensors, fueling, etc. I finally noticed the negative terminal on the battery was loose 😂
