What is up all you Pokémon maniacs out there! PikiPikaPapa here talking about how some Scarlet & Violet Singles are Acting CRAZY. There is some amazing art in the Scarlet & Violet era and truth be told I think it's being overshadowed by Sword & Shiled Alt Arts, Booster Boxes and other Singles. However, even with the focus on Sword & Shield there seems to be a few cards in the Scarlet & Violet era that have got hot recently and are acting a bit crazy! This isn't about buying vs not buying or overlavued vs under but more of a step back 50,000 ft view of these singles cards. What's super exciting is that since these cards are so awesome you can't lose no matter what! One recent move I noticed is the Steelix IR from Paradox Rift has doubled from $13 to $26 in the last week. (Unrelated to playability from what I can to tell)

Yeah, the Groudon card does not have much play in the meta. I think it's just a really nice card and people are either 1) starting to buy it because it's a nice card or 2) market manipulation . I really do believe it's a little bit of both, but we will have to see what happens in the next 6 - 9 months

The pop in Raging Bolt id attribute almost exclusively to playability. The standard ex has seen the same price jump as the SIR with the new format.

Great video. I agree with you on most cards, except for the Pikachu card. Yes, a lot of graded cards, but i think it simply shows the high demand for this card. Everybody wants one. I don’t see why this card will decrease in value, with supply drying up quickly. This is a card that will stay hidden in the closets of many collectors. Many of them will never see the market again (somewhere soon).

It will drop simply because this hobby is not big enough at this point for that amount of supply to truly be lower than the demand. I love the art based cards and have the Scream Pikachu as well, and saw how that card lost over 50% of it’s value suddenly after I bought it, because there were ”quite a lot of supply” aka over 1k PSA10s at that time. Now compare that supply to Grey felt hat or any SW/SH alt arts that are booming and you’ll quickly see how their proces cannot hold with the supply they are having. Gladly that Scream Pikachu has come back to its value I bought it with since then, but it took a while, and just showed me that even with such a special, exclusive and desirable card, anything can happen and it will take years for the hobby to grow even to the point where 2k PSA10s can truly be said to be ”low supply”. Ancient Mew is a good example. I love that card, I think to this date it is one of the most special cards out there and one of the best looking ones too due to it’s unique nature, and one that should be owned by everyone who like these cards. Yet, due to the very high pop rate, they are not very expensive and the raw ones can be found with 20-40€ to this day.

I know... I was super torn on the Pikachu. I love cards that have a story that can tie to a memory or some type of emotion as that seems to be able to keep excitement and interest for years and years. We will just have to see when the flood of them stop. I just got done with this months grading report video and another 6K were graded so it still seems like there are a lot floating around!!

The history of the felt hat will always make it pop in a collection despite the lack of holo. We just wish ours didn’t nine!

Same question! I’d say as someone living in Japan, I did see a drop 3 months in for the deck but they’ve gone up in price since the announcement of the 24 world championship!

I'm so torn on that one!!! I love the art and my wife reeeaaalllly loves it so I have a strong feeling I'll end up with one in the collection but it might be more on the personal collection side of things vs the investing side.

Some of the popularity from raging bolt is because it has been teamed up with the teal mask ogerpon and created a phenomenal deck.

Great video. Everyone already commented on raging bolt and groudon. So instead... I wonder what our big chases vs SWSH will be. I think Pfates mew could be one. Maybe the plate zard, 151, greninja I really love the raging bolt but wish the pokemon was more centered and bigger like iron crown sir Hopefully they do some cool design or add another rarity Shrouded fable foil style with a cool illustration

I love the wood grain look on the Greninja from SF!! If they roll out a big name in that style I’ll be obsessed!! Love the Mew call out too. That card is fire!!

Been wanting that Groudon in a psa 10 but it’s just WAY too expensive right now for what it is. Maybe one day. Hoping a whole bunch more will get sent to psa now that its price has gone up so much.

I have a strong feeling they won’t be in short supply so patience is the name of the game on that one. Really high Gem Rate out the gate but we shall see!! Love it!!

@@PikaPikaPapa yeah agreed the paradox rift cards have a lot higher gem rates than the earlier S&V sets. Still much lower than Japanese though :P I’ve been buying some of my favorite IR’s in psa 10. I think some of the obsidian ones are really really strong pickups right now. I have a hunch that set won’t get reprinted and the psa pops and gem rates are absolutely abysmal.

Raginf bolt is only because the new deck is extremely strong and a lot of people play it. It ended 2nd yesterday for Japan Championship

Part 2 on the Pikachu card. Maybe also interesting to debate what will happen to the value of this card when Pokemon decide to drop an Eevee variant, or Charizard variant. It was a great tool to get people to buy stuff at their local game store, compared to all the online shopping. So I would not be surprised if there would be a new card introduced next year.

Raging bolt is very playable is why it jumped, Pikachu with grey felt hat I think will do good even though there's so many. Groudon is being bought out. Mortys conviction will probably be a $15 card down the road, it jumped up, because it got bought out. The Squirtle card I never understood $90. Your paying for a stamp on a common card, I can't bring myself to do it..

Raging bolt went crazy because it's a key card in the new teal mask deck. Combine that with the fact that we are in peak international competition time and insanely close to worlds and people are splurging for their decks. Lots of the "buyouts" people are complaining about recently have been because of this. As investors we need to keep up with the game because it influences way more in the market than people give it credit for

Yeah that's awesome input!! I'd imagine as cards rotate out either my normal time standards or as new better decks evolve we will see prices fall unless they have a ton of other umph behind them like a big name or epic art. Love this comment, thank you!!

Tyranitar and groudon are a much better comparison. Similar style arts and similar pricing.

No I was talking about the T-Tar, it's spiked in price recently too and in my opinion have similar styles. The T-Tar has a crazy low PSA 10 pop and PE has a ton of momentum so that makes sense to me I just owrry that people think Groudon might be T-Tar 2.0 but the fundamentals are totally different. Good question thought!!

You have to pull the numbers from PSA website and do the math. I don’t know of anywhere that publicly lists the info.

I feel like the whole SWSH craziness is kind of rubbing off on S&V. Doesn't make sense how these IR's that are basically just worse versions of trainer gallery cards (horrible print quality, no texture) cost so much more than the TG's ever did. IR's are essentially the same as the yellow border TG cards which were all $1 or less. I feel like this is a ton a hype and they're gonna absolutely tank in the future from these super high prices, but I could be wrong. I know I'm not gonna be buying any S&V singles for a long time, if at all. I love the art were getting nowadays, but paying over $50 for a non-textured card with horrible print lines and 4 dinged corners feels stupid, even if the price does hold up. I do think some of the SIR's are still a bit undervalued though.

This is a timely comment as I was just sitting here thinking about how many S&V cards are over the $20 & $50 point already. I don’t remember SW&SH outside of the big alt arts popping off like a lot of these so early. I’m not sure what to make of it yet to be honest… hype overflow, hobby growing or total randomness!!

Raging Bolt isn't anything to do with the artwork. It's a very good card in competitive play (same reason that Iron Hands ex jumped up). The deck is considered one of the best in the Twilight Masquerade format as the Teal Mask Ogerpon ex opened it up. If the deck doesn't live up to expectations it will drop back down.

I would tend to imagine the good playable Pokemon are a lot more volatile (at least until they rotate out of play) as they can change a lot. The really good trainer cards (like Iono) tend to find themselves I. A lot of decks no matter the changes to the format.

I believe the reason why the groudon has popped off recently is because it gives Godzilla vibes. Just so happens Godzilla-Kong movie is really popular right now. Trends are there for fans to gravitate to.

Happened to catch this early. Temporal forces pull rates have been really bad for me. Could be why it's so high so quick

Yeah I've heard that a lot!!! Hate to rip and be disappointed but for a long term hold the bad pull rates have been a good indicator for long term appreciation!!
