I adopted a beaten and torn to shreds pit bull that came from a dog fighting ring. This was 25 years ago. I wake up thinking about him still. He was one of the sweetest dogs that I have ever had and he would always make me smile with his cheerful personality. He lived to be 18 years old. I miss him so much.

I am sorry for ruining the good mood. It is just infuriating that too many people use/abuse animals to make profits in the most inhumane and evil ways , as only people can. Although it may only be a few people who save these animals and treat them with respect and dignity, these people make a world of difference. They proof that people can be good and that they have to share this life, this planet, with others, and floral and fauna.

As a retired mail carrier I agree with you on that they are good dogs. Almost all the dogs on my route were happy to see me. The pit bulls put their whole body into it. Doing their pit bull howls , flying down stairs & bouncing against doors to try to get to me. Not to attack but telling me to pet them & get their nummies! Brought a smile to my face & took the stress of everyday life off my mind. I MISS THAT! ❤

Thanks for your perspective. I'm glad you had that experience and enjoyed it. As for pit bulls, I'm not knowledgeable and would like to learn more about the breed and its reputation for aggressiveness vs how they're trained. I don't consider them that cute, by my taste, but I can see how many people might enjoy the playful energy when those dogs are in their happy state.

I’d be scary too if I was asked to fight to the death, be rescued only to sit in a shelter for years. He’ll miss you but at least he got a home! Thank you for the work you do and joy you bring to these puppers! Heart of gold! 💛 🐾♥️🐾

exactly, these dogs are not bad just misunderstood, you just need to put yourself in their shoes for a moment to understand that any living being in such a situation would be terrified and feel the need to defend itself, their trust has been betrayed so many times that what is extraordinary is that despite everything they are ready to trust again if they are understood Maybe it's because fear is in the eye of the beholder but I don't find him scary, he has a very sweet look

We just adopted a pitbull mix. She was in a shelter for quite a while, then in foster care. We wanted to see her twice in the shelter and were turned away because of a long wait list. Then I saw she was in foster care. She's a sweetheart but she makes a scary first impression. If we would've seen her at the shelter, we probably wouldn't have adopted. She's been with us 2 months and we are in love with her!! Give pitbulls some love and they'll give you nothing but kisses!!❤

Thanks for Saving him! People are so ignorant especially when it comes to certain breeds who are WRONGLY given a bad reputation because of people MISTREATING/ABUSING them! They're one of the softest/kindest and most loving loyal breeds (by nature) you can get..

I agree. I have known big Dobermans & Rottweilers, pit bulls, German Shepherd breeds. I even knew a Wolf hybrid (roommate with a large red Doberman named Satan). They were ALL sweet natured and goofy. The little chihuahuas, toy breeds that are not properly trained are more scary and likely to bite & be dangerous than any of those big 'scary' breeds. How can I be afraid of a huge pit-bull who is laying upside down (&snoring) in a pair of Sponge Bob pajamas, or a massive Doberman trying to hide behind me during a storm? But a snapping, snarling little dog is not cute.

@@antiquegirl6505 I agree. I had a friend years ago who had two Dobermans and the minute you walked into the house they would fall over each other to greet you and lick your face. I also had relatives out of town who had a chihuahua and every time we visited they had to put her in their bedroom the whole time we were there because she would try to attack anyone that came into the house.

I cried when I saw him playing with the toy! You're right about pit bulls get a bad wrap; any dog can be aggressive depending on how they are treated. I adopted a staffie and had her trained to be my service dog. They want to please their people and be loved.

Green Bean is the happiest dog! It boggles my mind that people were afraid of this baby! Two years, that’s two years too long!!! What you did for him most likely taught him to fully trust again! He knew love before he went to his forever home. I hope they contact you so you can see him again!!!!! 🙏🏻💙🐾🐾

Gotta love how propaganda can ruin any breed. First German shepherds, then Rottweilers and Doberman, now pit bulls. Pits were called "nanny dogs" because of how good they are with children. Any person evil enough can turn any breed violent.

Where I volunteer, my dog has been there for 3 years. I paid for boosts about him on social media, and take him out on dates. They transferred him to another no-kill shelter in hopes that a change of scenery and new crowd might adopt him. I still cry thinking about him. I pray he finds a forever home and a family of his own.

Awwww!!!! I feel so akin to Green bean seeing that at a very young age my family saw how fast I was growing and gave me the nickname Bean! I’m 54 now and my precious Grandmother, the only Grand I have left, still calls me Beanie! Lol. And hearing Green bean’s background and then seeing his reaction to getting a toy says to me that 1. He now knows he’s loved and 2. He can FINALLY be the pupper he was always meant to be!!!! I’m deeply grateful to ALL who rescue and nurture our precious animals for they are our gifts from God. LONG LIVE GREEN BEAN!!!!! 🥰🙏🏻🕊️♾️

He is so frigging cute, zero scary for me. People can be so ignorant. my grandmother wanted me to give mine up. I told her if it was her bigotry or my dog, it will always be my dog. My girl never held any grudges or hated a group of people for no reason, so a pit bull will always top my extended family. I will never have a better dog than my Maya. I wouldn’t trade of minute of her life for anyone. the best, very best dog ever. A pure source of love.

I’m very surprised that she didn’t adopt him herself. But some people are just spokespeople or caregivers until the magic moment comes. He looks like a very sweet boy. I adopted my Pittie which helped save me from me when my last Pit Pei passed away. I’m very blessed to have what I have now. But in the next few years, I’m going to open up a Senior Sanctuary. I have way too much love for the forgotten.

I love pitties! My wife rescued a pittie who had been dumped and was sitting in the middle of the street. He was tired, sore and plain worn out. We think he had been used as a bait dog since his teeth had been ground down. His ears were all chewed up and he was heavily scarred. You would thing he would be mean, but he turned out to be the sweetest dog. He loved the wading pool we got for him during the hot summers. He never barked and was always very lovable even though he had been treated horribly. He eventually had to be euthanized due to having cancer. We have his ashes in our back yard on our garden railroad next to a lake feature we have. He always liked the water. My wife named him Harley, so now he is buried next to Lake Harley. I have never known a mean pittie. I think they get a bad rap unfairly. It is the owners who make their pets mean. Pitties are very lovable and do watch over "their" families.

Pitties are one of the best dogs if allowed to remain their natural loving selves. ♥️🙏🏼 Dog fighting makes me so mad. 🤬 I’m so glad Green Bean was adopted. Sadly, I’ve seen it take longer than two years. The rescue I volunteer with had one dog who was there for 8 years before finding a forever home. 😳

Our family favorite dogs were Bob the Staffie-better known as Albert’s brother, and Rocky-our emotional counselor. He’d be right by our side any time he saw sadness or discomfort. Rock was 95#, and the biggest marshmallow ever❤ Green Bean, go get ur family ;)

Two years in the shelter was still better, happier, and safer than wherever he was before, but just because he was rescued from a fighting ring doesn’t mean that he was a fighter himself. No matter what, he was also a victim of his circumstances and surroundings that were obvs out of his control. Most likely, Green Bean was chained up in the yard w/a lot of other dogs. Ppl always say “it’s how you raise them”, but dogs really live in the moment. It may take awhile for them to recover from their pasts, but they can do it in a calm environment with comfort, love, routine, safety, and structure. When they know what to expect from their humans, they learn not to act or react out of fear and insecurity. Consistency is key to building trust, but it looks like Green Bean was pretty friendly and happy to see a nice human (and play w/a fuzzy toy). It’s lovely to hear that he was finally adopted, though I’d like to know that he got a good home, too!💕🐾☮️

Scary? Get out of here! Green bean is so sweet and lively. If anything, it those damn human villains who abuse animals and put them in a fighting pit. Blame them and not the innocent animals. i am so glad he got adopted. I pray that his rest of his life will be filled with love and happiness.💙💙💙

I have ownned several different breeds of dogs in my life. In january of 2017 found a pitt bull on the side of the interstate in the middle of no where had jusy lost my chihuahua of 18 years her name was Stinker very depressed over her passing. Anyway the pitt bull was real friendly so open the car door he jumped in. No going back now lol😊😊. Named him Outlaw. He has been the best doggie I have ever shared my life with. Outalw always ready for walks, car rides, great cuddle buddy and best decision to take him cause of his love for me and saved me from depression. He is not just a dog but my family member. Daddys right hand buddy love you Outlaw.😊😊❤❤

So glad that Green Bean got adopted. Our dog is half pit bull, half lab, and when she gets a toy she acts just like Green Bean, tearing it up. We gave her a green dragon with a squeaker and crinkly wings for Christmas, and within 5 minutes, the crinkly wings were gone. Merry Christmas, Blue!
