That motor really responded to a little oil. I remember receiving some of these Stompers, very close to Christmas 🎅 of 1982. 41 years without lubrication, the motor was simply bound 🆙 a little bit. These were a COOL 😎 toy, but now they’re vintage. Remember, even the plastic gears ⚙️ in these Stompers has probably become brittle. Cracked gears are not unusual. The tires also may have become hard over the years. Ya should keep these Stompers as shelf queens 🫅. I really liked Stompers, they even had a strawberry 🍓 like 👍 smell when I opened the package 📦. It was the smell of the tires 🛞. Your friend, Jeff.

A drop of 90% rubbing alcohol on the commutator and running for a minute or so will clean it and the motor brushes. Follow up with oil on the outside of the shaft

I like the idea of using the double 1.5v AA batteries to jump start the motor! I've used 9v before to kick off really stubborn motors, but you can't have the light connected or it will fry it. Great video Mike!

Man I wish someone would bring these back. I had so much fun as a kid playing with these, now that I'm older I wish I would've taken better care of them. I even had the hotwheels foil car crushing set and used use my stompers with that. older toys are always the best, today they would be bluetooth, with cameras, and GPS. totally would ruin it.
@mikemullinix26982 жыл бұрын
I don't even think they could make them like they did, too many little pieces that could easily break off and be a choke hazard lol
@thisolesignguy27332 жыл бұрын
They weren't that bad at all tho. I see other toys out there that have more parts. Things have gotten too PC and people complained too much over nothing. I used to beat mine up and never had a problem, it's not like they were built to fall apart. Just put a 8yr+ tag on them, it'll be most of us adults that are playing with them anyhow :) hehe

Thanks man! I recently picked up a McDonald's Mail away Stomper (white & green Chevy 4x4) in like new condition. Its light works but no movement. I'll give this a shot (very delicately)

Put a new battery in and tap the motor cover, drop it from 4 or 5 inches up, do that a few times while switching from hi to low, usually they'll come to life

hi, i need some help with a 2 speed stomper. 1) motor ain't spinning, not even when jumped. how can i tell if it's shot? 2)low speed won't engage. the lil lever simply won't slide into position. 3) I'm missing the positive side terminal.
@mikemullinix26989 ай бұрын
Very rarely are the motors no good. Have you tried getting it going outside of the chassis? I usually get them going good, before putting them back in. 2 speeds are really tricky because of the contact under neath. It's hard to tell you what to do without seeing it. You could email pics if you want, see if I can tell what might help Oldyellerrt@aol.com

Why dont you do the oil beforehand and give it a few turns so you won't get the magic smoke? Or is that what will cause it?.
@mikemullinix26984 жыл бұрын
Mainly, incase I have to tear it apart, I don't get it everywhere and make the small pieces trickier to handle, lol.

Can you get new Plastic gears for the Semi
@mikemullinix26982 жыл бұрын
No, best bet is to find a parts lot. Are you on any of the Facebook groups? Lots of good guys that buy, sell, and trade stomper stuff

Hi Mike, is there a way to fix the on and off switch if it broke off?
@mikemullinix26982 жыл бұрын
Only way is another switch, if you're talking about the plastic part. At least that's the only way I could. There are also a couple different ones, so I would probably see about having Ron Fraily 3d print a new one

Where is a good place to find Stompers that aren't running or need work and how would I search it? Also, how do you find parts for these? Thanks for the video 👍
@mikemullinix26987 ай бұрын
Fb market used to be a good place, and ebay, but most people know they're worth money so finding deals is super rare these days. If you're on fb, search the stomper museum, lots of stomper info and dealing

Hey, i have a 1st series bronco that the engine works great, lights great, etc but the rear wheels just work sporadically. Is there a way to keep the white gear from slipping and popping up and losing connection with the rear wheel gear? I think that’s what is happening and i can get it lined up and all 4 wheels will run, then as soon as it hops or flips over the rear wheels stop again. Does that make sense?
@mikemullinix26983 жыл бұрын
Yes, but I'd have to see it? Is the motor cover good? Has it ever been removed? Is it a side clip? Some gears are a little shorter, and only work on certain ones, if someone has repaired it, it's possible they put the shorter gear in, and it will work for a bit, then pop out, that's if your motor cover is good, that's what I'd guess is happening. Try a longer worm gear.

I really need to know how to replace the rims. Do they just pull off? Thank you for the video.
@mikemullinix26983 жыл бұрын
Yes, but they break easy. Best way is with a little pry bar so you get even pressure on both sides. And if you're changing tires, I just cut them off. I have another video showing 1 way you can safely put on new tires, but make sure they're not hard, or they will ruin the wheels. Side clip wheels seem to be the strongest, and look the best imo, but only original on side clips, if you care about originality

I've been told not to use it, idk why, I've just always used the 3 in 1, but I imagine the wd40 would probably be ok, just use a tiny bit
