Oh, also, I play 95% finger style and when I have to play with a pick, I sound like I only just picked (ha) up the bass. It'd be cool to see a lesson dedicated to playing with a pick for people who are more accustomed to finger style (if you haven't done one already) and where the hold the hand, how to mute, all that good technical stuff. Thank you in advance!

In that case you should also mention the change of the riff after Mainard starts singing. There's one round how it is shown here and then one round where the rhythm pattern is the same but after the triplet on the D string it's E(9) to D(7) instead of F(10) to E(9) on the G string. And after the second triplet it's E, D, F instead of F, E, G. And then playing these two riffs alternating several times.

For the life of me i cant get the hammers to sound right. I dont know if its because my strings are raised to high or its my cheap 25 dollar bass from amazon! Just replaced the strings and they sound great so it isn't those. I still might not be doing it properly so i might need to practice more but I'm on my third day of just doing the hammers and it still doesn't sound right and my finger tips are really, really sore. Wal, the brand of bass he's using and also what Justin Chancellor of tool has used, makes their own proprietary pickups for their basses. You can usually get close by using any two humbuckers or a jazz bass platform, scoop the mids and add chorus.
