That is the word I was looking for---avolition. It really sucks since this lack of motivation prevents us schizophrenics from accomplishing an entire task or two.

A shaman is someone who swims in the same ocean as the schizophrenic, but the shaman has thousands and thousands of years of sanctioned technique and tradition to draw upon. In a traditional society, if you exhibited “schizophrenic” tendencies, you are immediately drawn out of the pack and put under the care and tutelage of master shamans. You are told: “You are special. Your abilities are very central to the health of our society. You will cure. You will prophesy. You will guide our society in its most fundamental decisions.” Contrast this with what a person exhibiting schizophrenic activity in our society is told. They’re told: “You don’t fit in. You are becoming a problem. You don’t pull your own weight. You are not of equal worth to the rest of us. You are sick. You have to go to the hospital. You have to be locked up.” - You are on a par with prisoners and lost dogs in our society. So that treatment of schizophrenia makes it incurable.

could you do a video on your experience of finding out you had a mental illness, who first noticed you needed help, when you wanted or didnt want medical help...the process of getting diagnosed and trial and error with medications. also maybe a good video would be some of the best and worst side effects from different meds through the years. i find the process of this so interesting. my uncle has bi polar among SEVERAL other mental illnesses and the trial and error with meds has been an over 20yr process. its always interesting to hear others stories on this.

My issue, due to my autism, is that I have a hard time getting started when I need to do things, things like cleaning, but also things that a like, like drawing, I haven't done it in ages, maybe around 2012 was the last time I attempted to draw something. I live in psychiatric group home so I get a lot of help when it comes to doing all that needs to be done, I do all the work they just push me but it helps, I would never clean otherwise.

I can kind of relate to loss of interest. I used to be really into writing and once I went on antidepressants when I was 18 I lost all my creative drive and started sleeping 20 hours a day. Got kicked out of university because my grades were awful. I'm on different meds now but I've never attempted to write again.

As someone with Major Depression, almost every single anxiety disorder, and has shown symptoms of schizophrenia for quite a while now, I have been hit hard with the symptom of no motivation and energy. I might be lying in bed in the morning, and I physically have to use the bathroom, but I don't mentally have the motivation to get up and do it - I suppose I think "what's the point?" and also just don't have the energy. I've quit doing things I love way too many times. On specific hobby I quit for 3 years and have just now started back - it is a challenge, very hard to fight my mental illnesses, but to me it is worth a try and I am tried of being under he tyranny of my own mind!

I have Schizophrenia. But I'm anything but lazy. I have found things that I love to do, or would like to do. But my issue is fatigue. When I have som energy I spend it cleaning my flat, fixing cars, doing some king of project, working outside on the house I live in. I am not satisfied with a day doing nothing but spending time on my computer. Not at all. I need some kind of activity to be pleased with the day. A balance between work/activity and doing something lazy is the key for me. But I'm doing quite OK at the moment. Living by myself and having good meds. Just sucks to have fatigue.

It depends. My helper knows when I've been lazy or not. My eyes change, and I laugh a lot if I'm having problems. If I'm being lazy, I'll try to stay in bed or will drag my feet on my chores. Sometimes, if I'm having cognitive problems or somatic hallucinations I will walk around but not read or study and will drink 50 gallons of water and not put my cups up.

I have an idea ! so you said you lost interest in the things you used to like and enjoy. How about trying something new... e.g. you can read about different cultures ?... I personally enjoy learning about other cultures... their food, activities, celebrations... read about things you never thought you will be reading about... biographies... countries you never heard of... this world is huge and the exciting books or people are countless... All the best. waiting for a video where you will talk about a new & interesting culture you've read about. 🌟

Why is this life absolutely beautiful? It's easy (easier at least) to say when you're not one of the billions being abused and tormented. If anything this life is a meat thresher. I truly don't see evidence that it's beautiful...you're spewing delusion, cause even if that's your subjective opinion it's not backed by the reality of what goes down in this world.
