In an effort to bring a school with rigorous project-based learning to Albuquerque, Gant and three colleagues co-founded nex+Gen Academy in collaboration with Sandia Labs, Intel, APS, and the non-profit New Tech Network (NTN). Gant has served as a School Development Coach with NTN, helping to implement and support more than 10 new schools in seven different states, and has trained hundreds of teachers in project-based learning.
A graduate of APS, Gant is an award-winning, National Board Certified Teacher of science and math, and currently team teaches a course integrating English, government, ecology, and statistics at nex+Gen.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

I remember hating math because I was forced to learn it without knowing any use for it. This is particularly true of people who from an early age are planning on going into careers that don't use math past arithmetic like law. I only appreciated learning math in college when I developed an interest in finance. Eventually, I studied law, and I only use arithmetic daily. The years of higher level math I learned went down the drain.

the real world offers choice and your prefrences matter.....you are forced to be in school and you only get by if you stay silent and nod your head.....real world offers choice, school doesnt.....make school optional and you will see more educational innovations in 10 years than in the last 100 years combined.
