@@SchoolBusSass I passed the test for the school today it was pretrip and driving , emergency evacuation and a few loading an unloading kids with no passenger but me an the trainer .. They're sending me to the DMV to take the actual CDL test next week I'm kinda nervous hopefully it'll go well.. Thanks for asking 🙂😎

You need to scan your mirrors throughout the process. You’re focusing on specific mirrors at specific times, but all mirrors must be monitored.

Ray, not crazy at all! I started school bus driving so I could be a hands on parent and still work. I never would have believed how much I would come to love school bus driving. You have been driving for a long time and UPS has great training standards. I think you’ll find delivering children, far more rewarding, on so many levels. You’ve got this, Ray…enjoy the journey. Good question, and thank you for asking! When I instruct my new students, many have never driver anything larger than their own personal vehicle and maneuvering this big ol’ bus, can seem intimidating at first. Particularly when you tell them they are going to parallel park the school bus as one of their testing maneuvers. Initially, we take all maneuvers slower. This gives my drivers the opportunity to correct any problems that might occur. If your going fast, you likely won’t be able to correct the problem in time. This also helps them learn the pivot points on the bus and to utilize all of their mirrors. The parallel parking maneuver, in particular, is pretty much a formula, so once you learn the steps, it’s much easier to successfully complete the maneuver and apply similar pivot point principles to other maneuvers.
