The taxes may be higher in Finland, but it goes right back to the people. In the US it just bankrolls the military Industrial complex. That bankroll doesn't even cover the false promises made to our veterans
@disadadi89585 ай бұрын
No it really doesn't. Quality of education has dropped, quality of healthcare services has dropped, quality of infrastructure upkeep and maintenance has dropped yet we pay more taxes than ever before. It's the same shit where too much money goes into administration and bureaucracy, rather than actual investments in keeping the society running. Finland has also adopted the parts of socialism and capitalism that mostly benefit the state and big corporations, the general public only get the short end of the stick from both sides. For example, a big corporation can give a salary so low you're entitled to get welfare from the state. That's basically subssidized workforce for the big corporations funded by the taxpayers.

@@disadadi8958 its the same here, but we get nothing but a bloated government, more billionaires, and still have to pay for those things on top of it

@@PixiePrincessBrat True, not good at all. But I think media likes to create overly positive image of what it's like in Finland. Public healthcare puts you in a queue for months before you get anything done, or with less severe cases you just wait at the reception for hours on end before you see a doctor. Only rarely it's worth it to go public healthcare when you get a surgery and you're sent there from the private healthcare provider your employer pays for. Then you may get service and it's cheap.
@PixiePrincessBrat5 ай бұрын
@@disadadi8958 so its pretty much the same as were except payment comes from taxes instead of on top of your taxes... it takes months to get a yearly check up, and at least weeks for re-check on things seen at the Emergency department. 2 to 3 hours for urgent care, and easily 6 to 8 hours unless you literally are dying. *edit* I forgot to add that insurance companies get to decide if you are allowed prescribed necessary treatments based on their financial bottom lines.
@disadadi89585 ай бұрын
@@PixiePrincessBrat haha yeah. Certainly treatment is way cheaper here, starting from an ambulance to anything else. My mom had a nose surgery for a tumor and I think the ct scans and everything including the operation didn't cost her anything over $500 and I'm being pretty relaxed with the estimate. Total cost was probably closer to $150. Meds were maybe a $100 on top of that

@@jhtsurvival Yeah, no doubt. A lot of american foods are processed to shit anyways. At least Finnish school food is edible. As a university student I prefer cooking at home, it brings the average cost of the meal to the same or cheaper than school, but I can use quality ingredients instead of only soy and rice.
