I like the Schrader, just a little less to worry about, less to fiddle with. Most mine are Presta, but I'm always happy to use my schrader.

We have bikes with both and my feeling is that it's MUCH easier for us to air up the Schrader valve bikes because we don't have to mess with screwing the little adapter on and off each time we want to air up a tire. In fact, I am considering drilling out my lone Presta holdout just so they are all the same (to make life easier). I know I could get a pump that would go directly on a presta valve, but the cordless pump we have, as well as the manual pumps (and virtually every other source of air in the states) is ready made for Shrader valves (since that is what is on virtually every automobile). So for me it comes down to what is most standard here, and that's the Schrader valve.

You can let out the air from the Schrader valve by using the valve dust protection cover, and pressing it in an angle to reach the valve pin..

After working with both valves for so long they're are much of a muchness. I find in the shop neither one is better than the other to work with. But from a consumer point of view Schrader is easier for the average punter. Easier to put air into, can do it at a petrol station without an adapter and no tip to bend or snap off. I've seen more Presta valves clog than Schrader and way more failures with Presta. As for drilling rims, people need to understand it's the same rim regardless on how it's drilled.

I feel like Schrader valves last longer. I have had a couple of presto‘s break on me. the little metal insert with the gripped cap bends and sometimes breaks after the Structural integrity is compromised. Then I have to put a new valve in. But I agree with you on inflation. It’s easier to inflate a totally flat tube that has a Presta valve than a Schrader. Thanks for the video.

Since I've had bikes with the presta valves I understand the need an mechanics better. I see why they are smaller. Used to be frustrating but there's the adapter if necessary with a pump. I use my battery powered car compressor/ charger at home, it's got the digital read for correct pressure, on the road the CO2 option for me is best due to weight and size since it's compact and quick

the only thing i hate about presta is its very easy to be bent with the pump and if u bend it alot it just disconnects and breaks but its better in terms of convinience

I'd like to observe that you can get Schrader stems which are threaded on the outside all the way to the tube. I don't know how common they are in bicycling, but they are basically the default in aviation.

I needed to pump my shrader tires as they were deflating. I pumped the front to max and then the back. 3 days later the back tube is completely flat and no longer wants to pump and doesn't seem like the nipple thing is holding pressure. Did I break the tube?

Prefer Presta. Only slight downside is easier to bend when installing and removing chuck.

Presta tubes seem to air up faster for me. Could just be a placebo

My Diamondback with Fattire 27.5/3.00 came with Presta. I think is moronic to do that on such a big tire.

I just tried Presta with two tires. I'm taking them out and putting Schroeder back in. I can't stand bad engineering and Presta is just bad engineering - the valve thingy comes out when you undo the cap - too many parts for such a simple task. Schroeder always worked but we are all told by the freak show that change is good even though there is no need for it and they didn't have Schroeder when I went to get new tubes.

Presta valves absolutely rubbish , fragile and crap

a presta valve is like a slow charging apple fire wire cable, it cant charge my headlamp nor my tailight, battery pack, bluetooth speaker, go pro. usb c would be the obvious choice. im replacing my presta valves with schraeder so its the same style as my , dirtbike and 3 cars
