Nice review! I believe Orlowski finished 3rd overall at last years worlds (2019) on a semi dusty hard packed dry track. Like you said this buggy is probably the last of the off-road belt cars, so that’s unique/ special. Belt cars are just so smooth. I had a xxx-4, it drove nice but was super fragile, basically a touring car with bigger towers and shocks.

1 way FAB was an option on some older Schumachers. I put one in my SX2 and K2 Aero, it's cool it comes with it stock now. It's a definitely extra tuning option you want for high grip Astro.

Great video with an in-depth analysis of the Schumacher CAT Evo L1. I would suggest for future comparison videos, if possible to carry out back to back-on-track testing. Since you are racing on carpet, track evolution would be negated. You should also include and highlight the handling differences such as on-power turn-in and braking stability. If possible a three-way comparison between the Team Associated B74, Schumacher CAT Evo L1 and upcoming TLR 22 x4.0 would be fantastic.

Great review 👍. I have been on the fence about getting one. It's the little quirks and design "oddities" that really draw me to Shumacher. Plus I'm a sucker for carbon fiber and belt drive.

Nice review! I am honestly surprised that you've had no failures especially since you say you've beat on it pretty hard. Schumacher must have really worked on that for this revision as the original L1 was not something I would call durable at all. I am not one to crash really all that much either and I broke arms, towers, shock shafts, you name it. lol! Also had the chassis bend to, it was rough... Glad to hear though, as I thought the drivability and handling characteristics were good.

Matthew Bauer thanks, yeah I was surprised nothing has broken yet. They did revise the bulkheads and include the chassis top brace, I guess it’s helping. I thought my chassis was bent, but it was just the top braces putting tension on it and it’s still straight. 🤞

So for years I've owned a Schumacher CAT that I bought off Ebay that the guy told me was a Procat (I'm an RC guy from way back in the day, and this was my entry back into the hobby after about 20 years). But this didn't look like any of the old Procats I'd ever seen, although it did look super badass. Clearly, it's SUPER close to this model. The motor is mounted in front of the main ball diff instead of behind it, and my steering servo is on the left side of the chassis instead of the right (with the receiver on the other, obviously). I don't have the nice sway bar in the back, either, and it seems like my suspension connections are not as over-engineered, and I don't have the front brake slipper clutch. My wing is identical, and I have the dual belts though. I've abused mine pretty good now too, and it's time to start looking for some parts, and I'm starting to worry about what model car I actually have so I can order the right stuff. I think I should be able to better narrow it down after seeing this video. I wonder if there's a plain L1 model or something... some other derivation...

@@RazorRC - I got it. My bad little kitty is a a K1 😼. All I needed was to see yours to be able to start my search correctly. Just blew like $120 on parts! Thanks so much for posting! This video really helped me out!

I thought they recommend Associated 4wd front wheels for this car? It's what Amain lists in the parts section.

Been building/running Schumacher cars for decades now. Piece of cake to build. FAB Virgil ;) OK I'm old LOL. Cecil Schumacher sais he went with belts drive (CAT XLS) as he said it was more efficient. I would defer to his judgement.

Average compared to other 4wd and slower at changing direction 🤔 Have you seen Orlowski drive this thing at the EOS 😉 2 Star for parts🤷♂️ Discount RC is in Michigan with 3 day shipping and there’s Klinic RC which is also awesome, both have everything!

If you think the belt drive is draggy it's probably because you're belt tension is too high.

It requires a special extended pinion gear? WTF Schumacher. That's a deal breaker for me, no way. But good detailed review!
@RazorRC4 жыл бұрын
Netcruzer RC TECH CARS yeah, it’s stupid. You can get away with a standard pinion, but it only has half tooth engagement with the spur.

JRP Romeo156GTA wow. TLR is really messed up in Europe and I think that’s why nobody runs them there. Here the 22X-4 is $499 and the CAT L1 EVO is $549
