Makes me wonder how many people are out there with revolutionary ideas that aren't able to connect with the right people, and it makes me realize that in the future automated call trees are still going to suck...

Plot: 21 year old male invents a cold fusion reactor that can fit in the palm of his hand. He spends days and days attempting to get the attention of various research companies by cold calling them. What he should have done is offer his neighbors electricity at amazingly low prices to build up a cash reserve so he could then install these golf-ball sized reactors in cars which would get the attention of the media and therefore the attention corporate sponsors. Had any of the companies actually taken him serious, he would have moderately rich 21 year old (Hey, kid - thanks for giving us the patient to the device. Here's the $500,000 we told you about).

Better idea, if the kid had any business savvy, start his own company and start an energy revolution by pushing out the other energy businesses and laughing his butt off at them. "Ya should have took me serious."

When you create an amazing invention this incredible, you don’t just call them like that to share your knowledge with some massive company, who would probably pay you quite well for owning all the rights/patent on your new invention. Upload it to KZfaq so others can see it, THEN they will be racing to contact you first. You patent the tech with a patent lawyer fast, and then you sell your invention to the highest bidder while keeping the patent. That’s when you negotiate a percentage on each and every sale to get a commission. In my opinion this video was “meh” or 6/10 on my Dust movie scale.

He should have spent more time filing a patent for his idea, instead of desperately seeking someone to steal it. Also, did the filmmaker just quit caring in the end?

Patents cost minimum 6 figures and take years to get processed. Only big companies can really do it anymore.
@SewerTapes
@SewerTapes 6 жыл бұрын
The cost wasn't my point. I found myself not caring about the character's situation because he's an idiot, and the situation is wholly unrealistic. Even at the most basic desperate level Kickstarter would get him backers and notoriety with minimal effort, to the tune of millions. I know this is science FICTION, but the premise is too ridiculous to be relatable, which isn't good since the entire short depends on buying into his struggle.

What is the key to success involving human interactions? STRIVE FOR MEDIOCRITY. People advance to the limit of their individual ineptitude. Greatness is often collateral damage in the struggle for commonality. Cool story. I'm glad the character keeps rising. Well done.

im glad im not the only one that has spent a life time going through this over and over. The first one was a motorcycle with a gps that i was working on in the early 80's. It could also go across country , i think, on a single tank of gas. It would also encase the rider so if an accedent happened the rider would be unharmed. Then i made another and....so on this went for years. My lates was a combustion chamber for bomb bases scraping old bombs. Instead of making too much noise, polution and destrowing property near them... my chamber could produce gigawatts of energy or more. or what ever the correct terms are. I had a stroke 2 years ago and only work at 20-30% now... still i retain quite a bit more than most people who live normal lives. I keep running into this problem because people are not ready and too dam dull witted for real improvement that helps the planet deal with our stupidity.

How well I know this feeling. When I was young, I was so far ahead of the music business as far as actual music, I did not fit in. So I locked it up for safe keeping inside, and went to work, like the rest of the slaves.... Good movie, realistic portrayal of a frustrated genious. Society stifles genious, or just simply steal their ideas and give them nothing....

That's the absolute best way to commit suicide. Take it to a well populated unwired public place with 20 appliances and just get all those appliances start working. Invite everyone to bring random appliances and plug them in, and live stream the event. Share an invention like this with any corporation and you will end up very dead very soon.
