How to understand you are smart? How to become a genius? Here are 13 traits of intelligent people that will help you recognize them without any tests.
We usually take IQ tests to measure a person’s mental abilities, but as it’s not always necessary. It’s hard to argue with the fact that some of us are smarter than others (yes, there are so FEW of us). It might be offensive, but it is what it is, and there is no denying it. We usually take IQ tests to measure a person’s mental abilities, but as it turns out, it’s not always necessary!
What does it mean if you are a messy person? Can someone lazy be smart? We've got 13 traits of intelligent people that will help you recognize them without any tests. You can use these signs for self-analysis!
TIMESTAMPS
Smart people love cats 0:51
Smart people easily adapt 1:42
You sense when you are being lied to 2:03
You are self-sufficient 2:38
Sometimes you are messy 3:25
You don’t lie to yourself 4:22
You can hold your emotions when it’s necessary 4:58
You always make plans 5:37
You like being lazy sometimes 6:16
You don’t get stuck in the past 7:23
You make mistakes 7:52
You don't prove anything to anyone 8:24
You know what finger ration means 9:22
SUMMARY
- Scientists really think that so-called cat-people are smarter than those who prefer dogs. It has been proved in a US study.
- Intelligent people adapt to the changing environment easier than less intelligent. They either change their opinions or the environment itself.
- Smart people are believed to understand other people’s intentions, motivation, and wishes much better. Think about the smartest friend you have - is it easy to get him or her to do something that you want?
- Of course, intelligent people have partners - they love being together with other people. However, they don’t let their entire lives revolve around their boyfriends or girlfriends. Smart people can live just okay on their own.
- Intelligent people are messier than less intelligent ones. Scientists think that this is because a person’s mind is busy with more important things. Smart people know that paying too much attention to such insignificant things is stupid.
- Smart people don’t lie to themselves just because they can’t do that. They are unable to convince themselves of something that they know is not true.
- Intelligent people don’t like showing their true emotions because they can be used against them. In an argument, it’s much better to conceal what you really feel, this way you will have a winning position.
- Smart people use their time wisely. That’s why they don’t rely on improvisation. They analyze the situation and evaluate all possible options.
- Research that was conducted by a team of scientists from Florida Gulf Coast University suggests that lazing around might be a sign of high intelligence.
- Intelligent people value their experience and memories, but they realize that there is no point getting fixated on what has been said and done. They dream and plan their future while living in the present moment.
- You can never move on if you keep regretting the mistakes you’ve done in the past. The best thing you do about the mistakes is learning from them and avoid repeating them.
- Intelligent people don’t push their smartness on anyone. They know that it doesn’t matter if anyone knows they are smart or not.
- There might be a connection between the index finger and the ring finger ration and your mental abilities. Knowing what ration even means already makes you smarter that many people, but still: the ration between the index finger and the ring finger can be calculated by dividing their lengths.

I have something to add, watching this video I had flashbacks of the horrifyingly disgusting messy cat houses I've been in. I barely scrolled the comment section, and not surprisingly saw a "like if you agree" comment with upvotes regarding cats and being messy and nothing else. There should really be some clarification on that in this video. I don't think we need anyone feeling validated for hoarding and cat farming. Just throwing that out there

And some intelligent people prefer dogs... for companionship and emotional support, because finding suitable and willing humans is challenging... and some days you just need unconditional love and acceptance and affection... and dogs do that better than even my own friends and family...

@@kiwiyt5423 Not unsmart but just ill informed (jk). Actually it was a joke on psychologist who feel that IQ is anything but an overly simple indication of how well you might do in school with all other factors being perfect. In other words it's useless for much of anything except a diagnostic tool when psychologists suspect a problem. We (All people) don't even know what intelligence is much less how to measure it. Lately there have been a lot of alternative intelligences proposed. Say you are a people person. You get along great with everybody and everyone loves you then we could say you have a high people IQ or Social IQ. Say that you can walk, boat or drive anywhere and find your way perfectly. That would be a spacial IQ. In fact there have been so many of IQ's proposed that it makes the argument useless. So we are right back where we started. A guy named Terman tried to look at it a different way. He wanted to find where genius comes from (Not Trump 😆). He took 180 boys and girls who's IQ's were above 175 and followed them for 40 years. Not a single one was what people would call a genius. Most did very well and had distinguished careers but no geniuses. So far nobody has pegged a genus in the making. So if anyone thinks a high IQ is what a genius is they are probably selling you a stack.

I had an IQ test as a kid and rated 119, the lowest of my family, most of whom have genius IQs. I was, still am, considered by them to be unintelligent. I relate to most of the topics brought up here though. I give myself more credit than the rest of my family does. They stress intelligence way too much in my opinion. I think that I have more human and animal and environmental understanding than my siblings, except for my brother. He was awesome.

Intelligent people are generally secure enough that they don't worry about outward signs of intelligence. People of exceptional intelligence are generally too busy thinking on too many levels to care much about someone telling them they have signs of intelligence. in short, Intelligence is self-assured as well as self-evident and requires no excessive external reinforcement as validation.

Nice way of classifying a certain personality type. I do think you might need to better define intelligence though. It seems to me that many of the traits listed in the video are signs of wisdom not intelligence. You might want to do a video on the difference between knowledge and wisdom, it would help to clarify your definition of intelligence.

I prefer cats. I adapt easily. I can tell if someone’s telling the truth. I’m kind of self sufficient? I’m busy with hobby’s, I draw, read and stuff. I’m extremely messy, my room looks like a bomb hit it. I don’t lie to myself, but I try, a lot, but it doesn’t work. I’m emotional a lot, but I just put my hair over my face, and give myself a couple seconds, then get out there. I panic a lot, but I forget what I panic about, and then list what ima do so I stop panicking. I can’t get out of bed, I set an alarm 40 mins before I wanted to get up so I get to be lazy. I don’t focus on what’s happened, unless it hit a string. I make a lot of mistakes, I don’t really learn from them though, as I’m lazy and forget what to do as I rush around. I don’t think I’m smart Meh. Dosent matter. Thanks if you got this far 😊

Every one of these is me. I particularly like the bit about being messy and hating others come in and tidy up for you. Yes, we do have more important things to do. I tidy up only when the degree of mess begins to interfere with my achievement of more important things and I limit time and energy I waste on such trivial activity. And I hate external help with tidying up because, despite Apparent chaos to outsiders, the mess has a secret order I created and I know what that order is. The last thing I need is some control, order and neatness freak stepping in and seeking to impose their order eg by tidying ip, cleaning, discarding things etc. Thereby messing up my own order. That is why I Would feel an overwhelming desire to completely liquidate some of those typical decluttering consultants one sees ads for, who offer to come into your home ie invade your private space and start cleaning up ie mucking up my own perfectly functioning system and order, where I know exactly what I have, where it is located and can access it at my fingertips, as needed. I'm creative. Surely you don't expect me to be neat and orderly, too. How unreasonable!

If you asked a bunch of people if they have these traits, they would almost all say yes; because the human mind has very powerful cognitive biases which make it difficult to see their real selves, look up the "above average" effect. This video was designed to make people feel better about themselves and think that they're smart, even though they are no more special than the common joe.

The video was merely discussing the traits of intelligence or intelligences, plural. There are all sorts of theories of intelligence but three are at the basis of this video: Sternberg's, Gardner's and Spearman's. This video takes a lot of their accepted theoretical traits and expands upon them. As an intelligeent person, I found them to be mainly true, even if I did lack in certain areas! I mean, we're human and imperfect, so no biggie to admit we make mistakes! The video actually said that! But it's been known for eons that some people are most definitely more intelligent than others! It doesn't matter if we're speaking of general intelligence or of specific intelligences, or we define them as analytical, practical and creative intelligences or maybe interpersonal intelligence (“people smart”) or intrapersonal intelligence (“self smart”). The fact is not everyone IS intelligent even if they'd like to think so. That, as my grandfather would say, is what you get for thinking! lololol

In my opinion, this is just another of those videos starting with: the latest researches have shown (insert amazing things), which are some years or even months later proven wrong. And this is why I don't like this kind of videos: it sticks to your brain whether it is true or not and every time you will look at a person who loves dogs you will think they are less intelligent. I think this is just a lot of biased information.

FACT: being left handed doesn't have to indicate you're smart. For a long time, people believed that your dominant hand has something to do with intelligence. A 2015 study conducted iq tests for people who were left and right handed. They found no difference in their intelligence, however both sides of the team did well overall.

Pardon me, but I forgot one of the major characteristics of geniuses. It's that they're easily able to watch, read, and listen to views that are opposite others, and this they often do. I've asked the three geniuses I've known about that, and they've each told me independently of the others, that knowing and understanding opinions opposite to theirs helps them hone their own views by seeing where they need strengthening or changing (to one degree or the other.) Now, would it not be nice if every human had that view of the world? I have several friends and acquaintances who watch or listen only to the news from CNN, MSNBC, NBC, NYT, PBS, NPR, and WAPO. Every other news outlet else is absolutely wrong, even though they've never personally heard a word of what they're saying. Believe me when I tell you, they're certainly not close to the genius category, or even the smart category. They do have some redeeming qualities, and are still my friends, however.
@michealtm
@michealtm 5 жыл бұрын
I agree, you would find that people adopt the views that easily fit their lifestyle, which is why they don't watch opposing views. They may fear that logic can destroy their habitual nature, therefore ridding them of their safe spaces and threatening their comfort zone. So they demonize the opposite side and cower away from its voice. Those are not just far from smart, they surrender to delusion for the sake of personal pleasure and comfort. That makes them fools in every sense of the word, and they represent a huge portion of humanity. Many of them can be well-spoken and even intelligent, but they are not wise! Merely intelligent people can be dangerous, because people listen to them and follow them, yet they may be blind and lead masses down the cliff. Wise people on the other hand, are also well-spoken, they may not pass tests with flying colors, but when they open their mouths, they fill the gaps where intelligence fails. Those tend to lead people to their destination.

Pretty interesting stuff. However, I disagree with the cat/dog comment. I don’t simply have a dog as a “companion”. By having a dog, and by observing him over the last seven years, I realize how much my dog thinks and feels. Dogs are much smarter than many people give them credit for. They are truly amazing and wonderful family members. Although I also have a beautiful and wonderful kitty, my bond with my dog is extra ordinary. He has elevated my consciousness. We are connected on a different realm. Thanks for your videos.

Evan566 actually you understood that wrong. When it said that people are messy, it said to them it’s an organised mess, and they get annoyed when someone try’s to move stuff around. So technically with the mess they are still being organised, but in their own unique way. (I do this, and every time I tidy I loose a hairbrush or my glasses or something important 😂)

While talking about differences in finger lengths, you spoke about if your pointer finger was longer or if your ring finger was - implying (to me) that the fingers were of the same length on both hands. It’s very noticeable that my pointer finger is longer than my ring finger on my right hand. On my left hand though, both my pointer and ring fingers are the same size. What does this say about a person? 🤔

My mother was the smartest person I ever met. She could make money out of nothing. She was indeed very messy and always had her hands into multiple projects at once. It was not uncommon for me to come home from school to find her painting the walls yet a different color or having the couch and chairs ripped apart teaching herself how to upholster furniture. A mother of seven, she took my father's weekly paycheck and parlayed it into a real estate empire before it was fashionable to flip houses. Her natural negotiation skills were incredibly successful. She could sell you your own shoes. She would buy these dilapidated old duplexes, and my father would fix them up. Not only was he very knowledgeable about what needed to be done, but he had an innate sense of beauty and design and made them look beautiful. Mom would then rent them out. At one point, she had a dozen or so of these duplexes plus a couple of farms. It was the 1950s; she had taught herself how to do this. Her lack of fear and willingness to try new things were her strongest personality traits. If her ideas didn't work, they didn't work, like the time we found she had purchased a huge vertical freezer (which cost a fortune to run) loaded with hundreds of dollars of, what turned out to be, "old meat." Without any drama, she would learn from her mistakes and just "move on." She taught herself how to grow the money she was making through investing it and how do her own accounting and taxes because, let's face it, she was cheap. She had become one of the first "millionaires next door." (P.S. she may have had undiagnosed ADHD.)
