My son has special needs, so even though he's 26, if my bday is on a weekday and no extended family or friends are around, I make sure I have a small cake, so he can sing and help me blow out candles. It makes my bday special, not sad.

I had full custody of the kids but I never used it as a public display of “putting my exwife in her place.” The only consequence of your “I have sole custody” is that your kids will one day be older and realize what a baby you are and you don’t mind trashing their mom. My kids never heard me speak ill of their Mother. When Fathers OR Mothers trash the other parent, they kill a kid’s spirit. Crushes their heart. So defeating. They don’t even want to be around you.

And frankly speaking, birthdays after my kid (and she’s spending the weekend with her grandparents) are not any lonelier than they were before I had her. 💁🏻‍♀️ Homegirl is hurting, and her friends/family/“village” need to step up to the plate and make her feel special on the only day of the year that’s only about HER. Ex-husband is taking his guilty conscience (that he’s not supposed to even have, per Scientology’s “tech” and the way it’s supposed to create lemmings, devoid of emotional reaction) out on her by trying to smear (by way of an “explanation”) her in an attempt to get out ahead of any “bad PR” for him. It’s textbook narcissistic behavior - which seems to be a common thread in almost every dispute that Scientologists are in. L. Ron Hubbard was a swindler and a narcissist clearly, given that every single time someone follows his “tech” (aka propaganda) they end up looking like a self-absorbed, ego-maniacal spoiled rotten brat.

- Aaron, while I think it’s weird to deliberately film yourself crying, and it is possible she’s lying, added to all of the other things single moms go through, staying up until 1 am to throw yourself a pretend birthday to make your 6 year old happy can be too much. I had to do this on the day my abusive ex filed court papers on me. He’s a deadbeat dad. I was so tired all I wanted for my birthday was to curl up in a fetal position and go to sleep. But I stayed up until 2 am to make my kids happy, knowing I had to get up again at 5 to get the children ready for school. I cried from tiredness if nothing else, and I called a DV support hotline. I didn’t film it and I didn’t start an online war as I doubt the court will view their shenanigans well. And I think practicing Scientologists are allergic to facts and good decisions.

I disagree with Aaron's point about her video being a red flag because she is responding to the clearly jealous ex-hubby's video. Aaron himself says he is no drama, but he DOES engage in drama when it is responding to specific falsehoods alleged against him or others important to him. So, as long as the rest of this lady's normal videos are clean of attacking her ex, then her responding to her ex's viral smearing of her is perfectly reasonable... according to Aaron's own standards. Felt like Aaron was being a hypocrite there tbh. Also, if the ex turns out not to be a scientologist, since the lady didn't specifically say he was definitely a Scientologist? There's no falsehood there. If he's trained in Scientology due to hiring a Scientology consulting company, it wouldn't be surprising if he took that Scientology training home and that feeling like he was injecting Scientology into the family. I really think Aaron is off on this one, it's very very tricky business when you're putting yourself between two clearly troubled people - especially when the Scientology point isn't even that important, it's enough to be Scientology-consultant trained and abusive.

Aside from their personal story . . . yep. Single mom, made my own birthday cakes every year since 2001 when my husband died. Didn't usually cry but felt sorry for myself sometimes. Being a single mom is exhausting, and having no one around to take the time to care for a mom who rarely has time to take care of herself . . . I guess you'd have to be IN a single mom's shoes to get it. (I would never post myself crying cuz no one cared about me though) However, the extra of having a husband be a d*ck about you online, is pretty crappy. Best thing is to keep all of that stuff off the internet. But drama and trauma do grab attention. Attention seems to be missing in this lonely world, sad that people have to get it online. Messed up. She didn't say anything about him in her first vid. He decided to do the nasty and out himself and her, he's talking sh** and she's supposed to be silent? Probably they are both wack a doodle.

I've been around just long enough to know that 'abuse' takes many forms, that an abused-abuser relationship isn't immediately recognisable, and that the distinction isn't always that easy to make while analysing the two parties involved. They could both be manipulative or abusive, one could have learned it from the other, one could be innocent, or both are innocent and social media is just amplifying a brief or unusual state of acrimony. Having a website dedicated to your ex, though, is fundamentally personal and pretty textbook vindictive narcissism.
