Күн бұрынDark Matter is a 5e compatible setting that injects Science Fiction into D&D 5e's mechanics. I got a chance to play Dark Matter at PAX Unplugged last year, and I was impressed then. The offerings from their new Kickstarter has me even more impressed now. This box set is an a amazing way to jump in and the adventure is a great way to start things off. I'll be doing a separate video in the next few days reviewing the adventure, so stay tuned to the channel for more info!

I love the idea of a 5e Sci-fi setting and honestly, I've come to trust your judgement on gaming. Side note, my friends, my wife (my best friend), and myself are all truly enjoying the Buffy the Vampire Slayer RPG. Cheers, Ted.

The Mage Hand Press/Middle Finger of Vecna guys put out a lot of great homebrew and their Dark Matter setting is a great example of just how versatile 5e can be when it comes to setting and genre. Seriously, works like this and the multiple game series over on Dimension 20 prove that 5e can be adapted to any setting.

Mage Hand is always cool. Their Lovecraft & Weird West Handbooks are fantastic, I use their madness rules when I run Curse of Strahd.

I also had the opportunity play Dark Matter at PAX Unplugged last year as well, and can not overstate how much fun that the game was. It was a very smooth gameplay experience that was easy to pick up, even for one of my friends with me who has never played 5E before. It's really good, and the universe is lovingly developed and ripe for stories to be told in it!

I would at least like to see rules for Spelljammer, ship combat. An update of Planescape factions would be nice too. I am writing a higher level campaign which will incorporate both Spelljammer and Planescape.

That sounds rad. Top it off with getting them stranded on Athas and give them a solid Dark Sun curveball. What a trifecta of grand storytelling nerdom! I would enjoy seeing what you come up with.

Awesome timing! I asked my players what sorts of adventures they wanted to do after wrapping up White Plume Mountain. I was thinking more like if they wanted something more roleplay/political and less dungeon-delving, but three of them all said "SPACE!" I had been looking at that Burn Bryte system in the Roll20 market, but a couple of my players were reluctant to learn a new system (took them like 2 years before they were even comfortable with 5E! XD) So being able to reskin a 5E game sounds like exactly what I need!

I imagine the Space Kobolds Ships are big mining ships that cracks moons a la Ishimura. As look my decedants of my kobolds are... Ozula's decendant is more space dragon priest and Caesin's Decendant is a Space Captain of Mosscale Space Naval Legion.

Sad that Dark Matter was one of the campaign setting for the Alternity RPG. A a sci-fi/conspiracy theory campaign setting, like X-Files.

You should check out the Absolute Tabletops Harbinger 5E conversion all new classes and a whole new magic system. I have been play testing from the start they are about to do the 6th beta test and will be kickstarting hard copy end of 2020 or early 2021. BTW in 2 two weeks is that groups online con

So... Starfinder 5E, then? I owned 1E Dark Matter core long time ago. I don't see anything of it in this newest incarnation, aside from the name and the (extremely broad) "sci-fi" label. I guess I could do a deep dive and see where these games connect, but I wasn't invested enough in the original Dark Matter to want an updated version of it. I'll pass on this, but it looks like a lot of other people will have fun with it. For what it's worth, I hope this Kickstarter rolls out successfully. It certainly funded (three times over as of right now), but I've seen successfully funded projects with a lot of stretch goals, especially those with accessories and merchandise, roll out way late or fail altogether. Hopefully the project won't hit any snags.

They kept spells, which I am not a fan. I want SciFi, not space fantasy. I'd recommend checking out 5E compatible Esper Genesis or Hyperlanes.

They really lost me with that Kickstarter trailer. I can't imagine a more mundane by the numbers way to present a product. It immediately sends up a red flag. Hard pass

Have you actually seen the setting pdf? Everything else I've ever seen from mage hand press was good, I have no hesitation putting it in campaigns
