One tip! Try to align your kicking leg with your upper body in a straight line until your kicking leg passes your standing leg. This helps to bring up the chest as well as getting much more power

ITF is more traditional and WTF is more sport orientated so ITF based on that. But it depends on your instructor and how they teach really.

Just keep trying to work on technique and practice slowly. Don't rush into it. As for if it's a serious problem or not it honestly depends if you rest and take breaks or not. I'm not a doctor so i can't really help much but resting usually helps a lot.
