Just a correction: At 2:22, this comment was about why I started making hard songs in the first place. After Jordan and Through the Fire and Flames, all that was left was custom songs and after I exhausted the hard ones in there, there was nothing left that was fun for me in Guitar Hero anymore. This is also why "Soulless" has its name. The original was just a difficult and soulless arrangement of notes.

My favorite thing about Obsidian is how people argued that it would never be FC'd all the way up to the very day it was FC'd.

I should mention that a lot of my runs of Obsidian definitely weren't practiced for ages on end, I really only hopped on for a solid 2-3 hours each time i grinded something relating to it and got everything very quickly

I remember people being impressed when i hit message to blue 3x in a row slower which goes show how hard the section was. Unfortunately for me tobi beat me in the race for first ever slow fc (i had a -1 a few days before he fced it.) And he made sure to rub it in my face lol.

18:19 A better way to tell if someone's on an FC is the presence of the gold ring around the score multiplier. Far easier than deducing from scores or note counts. Good stuff otherwise.

I guess this poses an interesting question: "Is Darkly the most ambitious and skilled combined GH player, or is merely the pioneer for pushing what is thought possible to lead the rest of the community to push themselves even further beyond?" Either way, Darkly has done the most for redefining GH/CH in my eyes and so much of what has kept me entertained and amazed started with Darkly. Fantastic video Etienne!

I think the worst thing about the community is just the "like that's ever gonna happen, impossible" people. Like how many times can you be wrong before you stop doubting the evolution of players skill

If Darkly ISNT the GOAT, then he will still go down as one of the greatest to ever play the game...simply based off his ability to literally push/lead the entire gh/ch community to entirely new heights. It’s like his specialty is literally single-handedly making everyone take a better look at what is considered to be within the realms of possibility...like people say “this section is not possible or viable in a run” ...darkly comes along and pushes himself until he is able to do what was considered impossible, which in turn puts pressure/hope on other players to push themselves to do the same...next thing you know, that “impossible section” is fc’d by multiple members of the community and the skills of the community as a whole has been “levelled up” per se.... IMHO Darkly is like the Atlas of the community...he literally takes the entire community on his shoulders and forged ahead paving the way for us all LMAO

I totally remember back in 2014 when I first found out about the community I first saw Message to Blue on TobeGH3s montage (which is an all-time classic). Also one of the first GH players I have watched at that time. In other words on this particular section on that montage, I have always thought to myself "I wondered if anyone got it on Full Speed?" or "Will anyone even grind the full song ever?" Until 5 years later, I remember I was in school in my culinary class that day and I get notified that Darkly uploaded a video of him FCing Message to Blue on full speed and I watched it and I was just in disbelief that it was fucking over that very day. What an insane madman and still such an iconic section FC on this very day.

I have many fond memories of people like IBitePrettyHard, kknyrass, JLC, Blindz0r, mrallen95, and many others from back then, and it seems like the whole community has been largely forgotten about. Haven't really seen any videos documenting that scene. some notable first FCs would be Blindz0r's Blinded by Fear FC(s), mrallen95's Visions FC, IBitePrettyHard's many first FCs which kind of opened the door for more people to mod their drums and go for accuracy. Anyway, you probably have other shit going on but I thought it would make a really good video. Thanks for all this dope rhythm game content, your channel is truly a godsend.

GH3 Wii guitars don't need to be modified to rake the one-fingered way consistently, which is part of why they're considered one of the best starter guitars now (alongside the facts that they're ludicrously common cause everyone had a wii + the raphnet adapters just make them super consistent)

This is still my favorite FC to date; even if there might be a better one ATM for CH. Just the background on this song, the meme of it and for a GH/CH custom - it doesn't sound too bad. I also like that it's a stupidly hard 3 minute song instead of a stupidly hard 20 minute song
