I never had any doubts about his defensive and ballplaying abilities. But the confidence with which he makes challenges even in the box surprised me. And his press resistance is crazy, some of these clips had him looking like Frenkie de Jong.

Haters will say that this guy is short and no where near as good as Van dijk.. But Martinez have prove to everyone that heights is just a number to be a good defender.. Most important is your intelligence to read the game well.. Time your tackle.. This guy is amazing.. Aggressive,not afraid at all to throw his body to block opponent's shot.. @@steffan5104 there are certain attributes in which he's better than varane at like great awareness , good timing , ability to read the player's body language and figured out what he's gonna do , he's defensive play is slightly better than varane and is very good in build up play , he's the perfect replacement for Varane in the longer run , varane is at the tail end of his career and need someone worthy enough to take his place alongside Martinez and lead from the back and I can't think of anyone better than KMJ
