I watched Scott Pilgrim Vs the World for the first time and thought it was awesome! If you love the movie then you'll enjoy this reaction! But also Scott makes some questionable choices.
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World is a 2010 romantic action comedy film co-written, produced, and directed by Edgar Wright, based on the graphic novel series Scott Pilgrim by Bryan Lee O'Malley. It stars an ensemble cast, with Michael Cera as Scott Pilgrim, a slacker musician who is trying to win a competition to get a record deal while also battling the seven evil exes of his newest girlfriend Ramona Flowers, played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead.

Technically it was mainly to just be a cameo. NegaScott in the comics was a personification of Scott's amnesia(that caused him to make mistakes over and over) as well as his flaws.

Fun fact: the package scene wasn't CGI! The director actually had him throw it into the trash can. If you track down the outtakes, it shows you how many times it took him to get it in there.

Nah, I think you missed the mark there. First off, by then, Scott had grown. The real reason they got on is because many of the characters had numbers associated with them. 1-7 for the exes, 10 for Ramona... Scott (and Neill) is a zero! Thus, Nega Scott is negative zero. They equal each other.

The band’s music is “bad” because their songs (or at least the first) are easy, just the same 3 cords over and over again instead of 4, and with little change. Something like that In the comic, the defeated people who turn into coins just reappear in their home

Also, Beck wrote the Sex Bob-Omb songs, so they are intentionally simple and garage band style. He nails the style and they're still catchy imo.

The Scott Pilgrim comics told a unique coming of age story of a boy working through his worst attributes, the mistakes he made, and the people he has hurt in order to grow and change for himself, his loved ones, and for the girl that inspires him to be his best self. As bad of a person Scott is, him coming to terms with his short comings is one of the most emotionally impactful character arcs I’ve read. At the same time, we see characters like Envy, Kim, and Knives grow from their experiences and move on with their respective lives, while Ramona comes to terms with how she responds to relationships and anything that could lead to potential heartbreak. Although this movie is fantastic in a lot of different aspects, it barely scratches the surface of what made this story engaging and awe-inspiring in the first place. Side note, the new animated series serves as spectacular complimentary material to the original comics, taking the concept and putting a new twist on the narrative and taking the story and characters in a new direction that fleshes out and explore new aspects of these familiar characters.

I remember going to see this movie in theatres back in 2010 with my best friend and a friend I'd had a crush on all the way back in grade nine, and the three of us had fun. I ended up buying the comics a year later and honestly, I love the movie, but, the comics were able to really take their time with the material. I'm from Canada, and live in Ottawa, so seeing Toronto in a movie, that wasn't a Canadian production, was pretty awesome. Great reaction btw! I'll be sticking around for more.

Todd is waaaaaay worse in the books than he is here. That whole thing about punching a hole in the moon for Ramona? He does that with every girl he goes out with. And envy is actually one of Scott's evil exes, and has to fight Ramona. And Roxys weakness in the movie is Envys in the book.

Agreed its creepy, and glad his friends called him out on it, but the reason jail doesnt get mentioned is because Knoves is above the Canadian age of consent.

I personally don’t draw outside of my general age range, and still think it’s a bit weird when someone that young dates another person just outside of what most people think is the age of consent. However, correct me if I’m wrong, but they didn’t really do much of anything before her birthday, and as strange as it is, I don’t think one can go to jail just based on dating but whatever acts may or may not happen within said relationship. As I said I’m just logically trying to see this from all angles.

Ya, age of consent in Canada is 16 as well as having Jack and Jill laws which are 5 years for 14-15, so even 2/3 years earlier it might have even still been legal (not sure on if technically > or < 5 years difference). Regardless all still creepy, but ya never illegal.

Everyone in the movie, outside of Kim, pretty much sucks. The characters aren't meant to be likeable, which is where the comedy comes from. Even Knives is messed up for using Young Neil and shaming Ramona for her weight. Dunking on Scott is boring because the actor does such a good job of balancing realistic shittiness and humor. Let's move on.

The thing about character growth is the main character usually starts as likeable and ends up as likeable *and* mature. Scott Pilgrim starts off as unlikeable and ends in a place where he could become likeable. It's a risky choice, but it makes him more genuine, because most people aren't all that likeable, at least not to start.

When I watch the anime recently, on the list of casts from this movie (who may or may not all be on the anime on Netflix) there was something I didn't realize I missed out on back then when I thought this movie was too "embarrassing" to watch: Of all the people to be on this movie I didn't think *"Mae Whitman"* (The voices of Katara A:TLA, Tinkerbell DFMS (Disney Fairies Movie Series), and Amity Blight TOH), would be in it, as a Lesbian or Bisexual.

You probably missed the part where Knives invited Scott to her birthday dinner, meaning she turned 18. You probably missed the part where all they did was hold hands and she kissed him once. You probably missed the part where the film was set in Canada, and in Canada the age of consent is 16. So should Scott go to jail? No. Why? Because he didn't break any laws.

True I mean it's not like Scott dated her because she was 17 anyway he was doing it more so as just a crutch he's a jerkass yeah for sure but he's not into diddling kids and he actually does have some redeeming qualities in the movie itself despite being fewer then in the comic like when he immediately stood up for Knives and to be completely fair I probably did worse than him "let it be known that it was the first time anyone asked me out and I didn't have a single idea what to do so it just happened" I dated this one 15 yr old when I was 17 and it was nice her parents were cool and she was well she definitely wasn't the nicest, definitely had some issues but there were good qualities, I didn't try anything because well that's weird and I have no balls and then i got dumped and proceeded to not date anyone again because 1. That shit is hard and 2. I'm NOT good at it

@@thebestofstephx And yet, for some insane reason, the age of consent is often 16 (I decided to google it, and in most western countries it's 16 or even 14, and in the US 11 states have it at 18, 8 at 17, the other 31 - And D.C. - are 16). It's kinda depressing (I dunno why they don't just make it 18 with close-in-age exemptions to not criminalise teens just leaving school).

While I don’t think this is the best movie or a 1 to 1 adaptation of the comics (due to the last 2 chapters not even being published yet and the movie cutting some scenes from the comic) I think it is a good enough start for the franchise and a good enough start before watching the animated series

This movie fucking rules! Idk why this is gonna be comment on one of my favorite movies. But you kept saying "my queen" about Aubrey Plaza. Usually when she is in a movie I think she is by far the most attractive, because she is. But if you watch the movie "Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates", Anna Kendrick might top her in that movie, she always looks great. But she is absolutely stunnninggg in "Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates". Low rating and stuff, but still a really fun movie to watch! Great cast.

I'll never get the obsession over all circumstances. 18 year old is literally a hardcore p*** category and has been for so long, more in the US than anywhere else in the world. But a 22 year old and someone a few months younger than that in a steady relationship - PRISON!!!! Add in the fact that most of the civilised western world has it lower than 18, doesn't see a 17 year old as a "minor", and just is open to accepting that real relationships can develop, it feels like such a strange blanket attitude to have. If a 22 year old was looking for 17 year olds, hanging around schools to get to them or anything like that, then that of course would be a concern.

@wanderer3004 It's also 16 in the majority of US states, with some states having exceptions regarding people in authority or couples where both partners are the same age. It's really inconsistent and a little bi confusing because it's one of those areas that's left entirely up to the individual states, but the most common age is actually 16 not 18, with a couple of states going with 17 because apparently they couldn't pick a side.

Really not a fan of the animated series. Called Scott Pilgrim, features almost NO Scott. All about Ramona, Svott's friends, and the league members. Imagine a "what if" if Scott lost to Matthew Patel. Kind of that, but not quite. Then throw in as much wokeness as you can get away with. Have about a dozen "executive producers" besides Edgar Wright (they keep using that word. I do not think executive means what they think it means). Cool that they not only got the original cast to voice it, though, but also really famous others to cameo their voices.

i dont understand why people are upset at the direction the animated series took when theres already so many adaptations of the same story. its GOOD that it took its own spin on things, theres a world of untapped characters to see more of in this universe and by going its own way, the show allows the creators to explore it
