The whole Hercules learning from his parents that they adopted him and that he came from a very special place is pretty much how Clark Kent found out he’s from a different planet

I really honestly love this movie. It has such an interesting plot of "but what if they didn't live happily ever after" with actual, reasonable, natural progression! I also love the Fairy Godmother scene. We all know which one. I'm super lucky, because I have A.D.D. that makes me forget stuff very easily, so I got to experience that scene for the first time like 3 times and it has impacted me every single time

There's so many jokes in this film that you don't get until you're much older - the union jokes, the KNIGHTS scene, the blink-and-you'll-miss-it Starbucks gag. I feel that's probably the main reason why this film has stood the test of time and arguably keeps getting better the more times you watch it. And yes, this film should definitely be discussed in the same breath as The Empire Strikes Back or The Dark Knight as a sequel that's even better than the original

Yes, this movie was meant to be referential, in honor of Disney's 100th Anniversary, but some of it I didn't care for. I didn't like the gross-out humor. They could've done without the guy sneezing on the cookie and the other guy eating it. The songs felt more like pop songs, than songs that were meant to be timeless. Otherwise, parts of it were cute and endearing, mostly the scenes with Valentino and Star. But there are other Disney movies that I'd much rather prefer.

I think the key to determining a musical is how much of the music is diegetic (being sung by the characters in real time).

I have a theory that the reason the Fairy Godmother turned into bubbles is that it was the last bad ending that she reversed... Taking it on herself. Which is why the enchantress never shows up again after the end of Beauty & the Beast.

8:38 the comment about the Southern Water Tribe men. They made several big deals about how the men went off to war. That's why Sokka felt like he needed to grow up (faster than he needed to for a child of war). He felt that he needed to protect his tribe being the only male warrior remaining. Which explained why he was trying so hard.

I don’t know if I consider this a musical, because in musicals the characters sing to advance the plot, and the only one who sings is the Fairy Godmother and I’d argue that she’s not doing it to advance the plot, she’s just in situations where she would sing (her intro song feels like a thing she would just do and I need a hero was a performance)
@thebestofstephx11 күн бұрын
That’s a very valid point

Actually it's not always midnight! That's the joke! Its always the stroke of 12! The stroke of 12 isn't midnight, it's when the clock's bell rings 12 times. By specifying midnight, it actually IS midnight!

@@Kenny-ep2nf in fairytales, a spell or curse usually ends at the stroke of 12. People think think this means midnight, but it's not. It means when the clock's bell rings 12 times. So by specifying midnight, it actually IS midnight, not the stroke of 12.

Ok there is one massive plot hole in this movie. IF Charming kissed Fiona and she fell in love with him she’s still turn into an ogre at midnight unless shrek kissed her. Sure charming would be married to fiona but in her ogre form
