1:30 The moment when Stephen is shouting Scott's name to interrupt his daydreaming cracked my best friend and me up for some reason, and since then, we always used this shout as a random insider when one of us isn't really listening to the other. Love how they used the transitions to visualize Scott's daydreaming.

i think that's because of big glasses. They resembles the artstyle of this comic pretty much, where all people have big eyes like in anime. And it's not a big deal to recreate the exact same haircut

@@ankihansen2489 Between 1:30 and 1:48 there are two transitions (I'd say that's pretty fast for average movies), probably to show a sort of daydreaming/confusion effect. Eternal Sunshine uses that same technique in a similar way.

This isn't really a transition but when they are performing at the battle of the bands young neil is trying to sing along but doesn't know the words so he just tries to improvise. Very subtle but very well done.

Hulk from Ang Leed used the same technique in the most rotten and poorly made way possible. Scott Pilgrim manages to use this to his advantage in a comic style.
