@kure changed under Day? What? Did yall just start watching this team? No... Day has only been HC for 4yrs. 2 with Fields and now 2nd yr with CJ had 1 QB... go pro - Fields. Tressel had pro-style under center QB approach. He had a conservative run-first approach that is STILL the pro style in the NFL. Meyer introduced the spread offense to CFB at BGSU, Utah, and Florida before he came to OSU. Keeping the dual threat QB in shotgun mostly. That style works in college. Not so much pros. Alex Smith was Meyers only successful NFL QB. Day had a dual threat in Fields and he leaned on that. Fields has struggled bc his Oline sucks. CJ is not like Fields at all. He is a pure pocket passer not a dual threat. But he mainly plays from shotgun and not drop backs fromnunder center. He will need to adjust that in the NFL. But again... you can not in any way say the OSU QBs "started" with Haskins. It started with a Troy Smith and every QB since him at OSU will admit that. That is why ALL of them pay him homage with the fist raised and foot swipes. They know who the OG that started it all and that's that last Heisman winner for the Bucks. Every QB that's come after him wants what he achieved and to build upon that foundation.

@kure everything I said is irrefutable facts. Everything you're saying is hypothetical and assuming outcomes. I'm talking results. What other OSU QB since Troy won a Heisman? What other QB since Jones won Natty. Til that happens these dudes are chasing greatness. Stats look great. Hardware trumps stats. Assumptions sound great. Facts are better. Day is 1-1 v TTUN. CJ is 0-1. Meyer/Tressel 16-1. Day and his QB desperately need this win or their other incredible stats literally have no relevance let alone any assumptions of the future that you're babbling about ...the unproven.

Yeah I was laughing when all those white Ohio St fans were mad when Haskins won the job over Burrow. Stupid people will say they were right to be mad, but Burrow in 2018 was not Burrow 2019. Haskins put up heisman numbers in his one year starting and played way more the year prior than Burrow did. What drove Burrow into success in 2019 was not only the ridiculous talent LSU possessed it was the dedication he had to improve himself and teach all those people that talked down on him Urban Meyer hated his "noodle arm". Scott Frost didn't want him at Nebraska either. I don't even remember if Cincinnati wanted him.

It was interesting to watch an OSU backup QB transfer to LSU a few years ago and take the Tigers to a National Championship. It just goes to show that OSU can recruit and develop QB’s.

We haven’t seen much of McCord or Brown yet, so I’m definitely nervous. Nervous enough to the point that I’d like to see OSU consider Taulia Tagovailoa or Daquan Finn. We need a QB with either more mobility or grit for sure.

Id take our two over Taulia or anyone else that isn't a TOP qb. just because we haven't seen them play enough doesn't mean we should take a shot on an experienced qb at a smaller school

I like devin brown.. he looked fantastic in the spring game, and is a dual threat people are wanting.. he develops a little more and I’m pretty sure we will have the Burrow we never got.. I really think we should take care of devin.. he looks tough, has a hell of an arm and accurate, looks so good in the pocket, and makes playes with his legs, While extending the play outside of the pocket nicely avoiding sacks. I would rather him over McCord and honestly! I can see devin winning the job next season if stroud leaves. If you haven’t seen him with the buckeyes yet, watch him during the spring game early this year.. he has highlights and I think he will surprise you.. being a freshman. McCord and Marv could honestly have a dope ass year next season tho, never know.. just like what devin did in the spring game and I think he has some grit, and might be a sick leader. You don't want kyle to qb...? Kyle is the reason our star wr marvin even got recruited. He had 6.8k passing yards and 88 passing tds in high school with Marvin while playing against national talent.. I think having that same high school duo would be good next year.

I mean you definitely have to give Kyle a shot he's put in the work but I think Devin might have a shot at it I really do for next year all I know is this I would love to have a quarterback that will scramble that's one thing we miss I love CJ Stroud but there are many a time where if he just kept the ball he could have walked into the end zone

I like devin brown to but! McCord will be the most experienced and I’m sure will get the spot until brown develops a bit more.. also McCord and Marv could have a banger year next year.. let’s not get looking to far tho, what if stroud decides to return and so do all of his brothers.. this buckeye team is pretty young and not many seniors are on the team.. the NIL is putting some cash in their pocket and honestly, why rush off when you can really leave a legacy until your a senior, without those financial struggles. Developing more and winning more playoff games, The games and possible a natty or two.

Like in the past, simply the next qb in this years rotation will start next year. They will say they have a competition but they will just give the starting nod McCord. IE - Haskins vs Burrow

It might be a better use of time for Ryan Day to open up the playbook a little in garbage time,….Instead of handing the ball off thirty times in a row. Our garbage time play has been pathetic and unwatchable. I think it’s one of the reasons we lost Quinn Ewers. They stick him in for one play all season and it was a handoff. Do that in practice! Let the backups throw in the games!

Ohio state has a great quarterback commitment coming, I think it's in 2024 or 2025. And he's a good one. He's already met with CJ Stroud on his visit to the Ohio State University. And he's not the only one they've got and or targeted. That young man is already helped to get wide receiver commitments for Ohio State because he has promoted the Buckeyes as his future team. I don't think we have to concern ourselves at the quarterback position there will always be an elite quarterback at Ohio State. At least one

He’s currently rated as the #1 quarterback in the nation for the 2024 class and the number 1 overall rated player. His dad was an all American for Nebraska and played 14 years in the nfl for the lions… we might have a hit on our hands for qb year after mext.

Our next QB is currently on roster Kyle McCord is a 5 star for a reason and Devin Brown is a straight up dog we'll be in great hands with either one. If we do get a transfer (not counting Drake maye ofc) honestly DJ U would be the best but also Jeff Simms from Georgia tech would be interesting.

As a badger fan it's really annoying to see OSU as essentially an NFL qb and wr factory that we can never beat but I mean can't even hate when we get someone highly touted like Mertz and then because of Chryst's not good scheme and lack luster development he turns out bad and then everyone hates him for it. The thing with Ohio State is the standard is so high that if one of these 4 or 5 star guys ends up sucking it'll be obvious who's fault it is given that everyone they've had has been good.

Day may go with the kid from the 2023 class after using the dual QB system. The problem for Day is he will only get two years of playing time out of a QB and nobody wants to stay four years in his (Day's) system. Look what a few extra years did for Burrow, or this year's QBs from Tenn and USC both 25 years old.

its for sure not obvious, and a "beast" his time in the scarlet and gray games werent great and he often looks like a deer in the headlights out there. Also his release is rather slow, he himself is pretty slow and his arm is not as strong as CJ's, laterally I dont see him moving well and the garbage time throws havent looked great. Theres reasons to believe Devin will beat him out

Calling Justin Fields a bust when he’s in the middle of a record breaking run is funny. He will very likely be a star once he gets even a little bit of help around him. And people are overreacting to McCord’s playing time. He’s already been there two years and has way more playing experience than Stroud did when he started. If he’s not ready by next year, that’s more of a McCord problem than a Ryan Day problem.

Wish CJ was handing the ball to Quin Ewers that would be nice it was a pipe dream a year ago lol. I'd say give McCord a shot his talent is intriguing. Grayson McCall is interesting but hasn't played big time ball against elite teams but good dual threat. I just hope they get DB Cypress from Virginia because none of it matters unless the defense can actually cover a guy in the big game.

I personally don’t think anyone should look two years out anymore at prospects because they come and go now with the portal. McCord has been waiting his turn and I think he definitely should be the guy next year unless he just gets lazy and doesn’t put the work in. Burrow waited and finally did what was best for him and left and we see how that worked out for him. My biggest complaints with Stroud this year has been his poor clock management penalties and his lack of running ability. Always nice to have a QB who has that tool in his pocket.

First off I don’t think anyone has called Fields a bust. Next I think Kyle needs to get more of an opportunity to run the offense at full speed. Every time he comes in to play we have a huge lead, and he hands off and throws a few short passes. He never gets a chance to run it at speed.

We just got Lincoln Kienholz to commit. He has fantastic touch with his passes and he can take it to the house with his legs on any play. He's like Justin Fields, except he excels in fitting the ball into tight windows while Fields has superior arm strength. He can definitely give our offense the dynamism we had with Fields.

Bro… McCord isn’t play as much because as you mentioned, Stroud is going for the HEISMAN! Can’t win it if you are always playing 2 and a half quarters… it’s just the way it goes. McCord is not some true freshman. He’ll be ready. We have a cake schedule (minus ND) to start the season next year

Saying fields is a bust is like saying lawrence is a bust. They are BOTH looking like stud QBs and taking that next level in 2022. Those two were top QBs in HS and in college. I think you see them both top QBs in the NFL in 2023 as they will both get help with better receivers. Lawrence gets calvin ridley and fields will get a top WR in the draft. Maybe get Njigba

With the transfer portal their is no such thing as a heir apparent anymore, loyalty by a player is not a factor, if a better player transfers in, he is the man, and you can bet schools like Ohio State will always have top notch QBs at other schools looking for the opening that Ohio State will have in 2023

I've been watching football for many many years I cannot understand why Ryan day doesn't have CJ Stroud to run the ball more often it makes the defense have to be concerned about whether to quarterback will run I can't understand why won't he make him run some plays with him as the running back and that's the quarterback does not have the opportunity to audible at the line I can't understand why Ryan day doesn't call some place that will feature the quarterback running or give him that option

I for one thought Joe Burrow's beat him out in the Spring game. Joe was 7 of 8 with his one miss being a drop . But Urban was in love with Dwayne Haskins arm. We may have won two Natties. Urban made the wrong choice IMO.

How do u say things begin to step up when Haskins got there when Troy Smith won the Heisman and led his team to a unbeaten regular season and a National championship game? Terrelle Pryor was 34-4 as the starter there and JT Barrett still holds B1G and Ohio St records TO THIS DAY!! Just say u wasn’t watching college football then so u just don’t know how great these guys was. U saying great QB play didn’t start till Haskins came is CRAZY to me!

Ryan day needs to put mccord in against GA with some designed plays. He is a great qb and its time to get him some meaningful reps in a game that we can use his skill set. Like how mich used JJ last year. But then again, ryan day isnt very creative.

Ask any Buckeye fan that one year Dwayne Haskins had is the single greatest QB season ever from a QB at Ohio State if not for Joe Burrow throwing 60 TDs to Haskins 50 he would've won the Heisman

If McCord is the starter I doubt Brown will stick around and wait. These guys want to play and the NCAA has made it way too easy for them to transfer

if Day had 'sound mind' in coaching, he would have brought in another QB 4 games ago for a few plays.. and Stroud would have realized he is 'off his game because he is distracted in his personal life'... and stopped 'following the blind worshipers'.

You need those project guys in case something happens to your stars. Also, sometimes those guys turn out to be the real deal over the stars. What I like is that because they got this kid, they don't have another dumb kid playing "follow the leader to all the top bandwagon schools". It makes no sense to me seeing 5 star/high 4 star QBs coming right behind 5 star/high 4 star QBs, right behind 5 star/high 4 star QBs. Do you really think you'll play? I'm hoping NIL spreads out some of that nonsense. Clemson, Bama, UGA, and Ohio St, and Lincoln Riley have been doing that crap for too long now.
