The prosecutor did not want his arraignment pushed back. He objected to the continuance. He made it sound like he fully intends on prosecuting Scheffler on the felony charge.

Yeah, I watched the arraignment continuance hearing this morning. That prosecutor sounds pretty determined to lock Scottie up.

I just dont see how they reach the burden of proof on 2nd degree assault: "Intent to cause serious injury with a deadly weapon or instrument". That seems like a very high bar on intent in this case with no body cam vid and the eyewitness testimony is mostly favorable to Scheffler's account.

I make of it that the city typically enjoys the revenue from bail and they like screwing with regular folks and making them uncomfortable for as long as they can. Everyone who comes in there could be processed in less than an hour, but instead they like to have people sit in freezing rooms on metal benches for hours.

Scheffler was chauffeured from jail to the course by one of the owners of Valhalla. Make of that what you want...

@@gregbarnes1580 Agreed. People who respond to this story with a kneejerk defense of the police have obviously never been on the wrong side of this sort of 'misunderstanding'. Twice in my life my own close friends and family members have fallen prey to this kind of law enforcement, and that changes your perspective as to what some police officers are capable of doing. And also, sadly, it makes you aware that the system will work to protect the officer regardless of the unfairness of the charges. The key point in this case is simply this: at the time that this officer chose to 'attach himself to' a moving vehicle, the driver was guilty of nothing more than what amounted to a traffic ticket (he may have been guilty of nothing at all, but worst case was just a misdemeanor traffic violation). The road ahead was blocked in both directions due to the tragic accident that had previously occurred, and all Scheffler could have done was turn into the open gates of the country club 100 yards down the road. There was no reason for the officer to put himself at risk of injury, and Scheffler certainly did not know the guy was hanging onto the car. As soon as he became aware of it he stopped. The 'felony' charge is ridiculous and an embarrassment to law enforcement in general.

No, a plea deal is NOT acceptable, because Scottie did NOTHING wrong!! Accepting some trumped/up misdemeanor charge by this corrupt cop and leaving with the stain of a criminal record is UNACCEPTABLE. The only rational thing to do would be for the elderly prosecutor Mike O’Connell to drop the charges, but it increasingly seems like he’s too stubborn and crazy to do so. Scottie and his lawyer may well have a tough fight on their hands, despite the support of millions of supporters. So, goddamn Louisville, stop digging a deeper grave for yourselves!

You are without a doubt one of the most mis-informed individuals to comment on a situation regarding any persons involvement with law enforcement. There is literal witness testimony, video evidence and paper trail to completely corroborate any and all testimony for Scottie. The defense attorney was not even contacted about the date in which an arraignment could be made. This is a liar cop, in a city full of liars trying to make their fame. Multiple people have even said the cop tripped.
