@@peterdorscheid5652 Leather soled with hob nails so basically they are walking on nails as they project below the leather sole. These are SCOTS GUARDS not Scottish Guards although most do originate in Scotland. You might notice that the Guard who stayed behind is a Sergeant. Sergeants and high wear a red sash as well as having three gold chevrons and more. 3 Silver Chevrons is a Lance Sergeant a rank particular to the guards.

Its a drain cover! And they can't see where they are going as it is! They have to to polish their shoes and the tower of London gaurds are voluntary. This is not the Palace just a tourist attraction these days.

The man who helped him was the Sergeant among the group, hence the three chevrons on his sleeve and the red NCO sash. It's his job to look out for the other men

Yea that is nice but I thought they are not allowed to do that ! I thought they supposed to march on regardless what happen,maybe a very very tight protocol ! Then how can they explain out the fact that they run over a kid ? If little adjustments are allowed then they certainly could have avoided the kid 🤷‍♀️

It's the shoes, there so dam slick on everything. You see him touch a smooth metal surface an goes down instantly. Think someone would fix that considering. About once a month we see someone fall, usually just walking casually.

Eu entendo perfeitamente quando acontece estas coisas como por exemplo um escorregão no metal liso entre os paralelepípedos da rua ! O excesso de treino, os sapatos lisos, foi um acidente que se recuperou rápido! Mas cansaço,exaustão,fadiga mental e a responsabilidade de fazer tudo conforme o determinado pela Rainha Elizabeth II é complicado! Deus salve a nossa Rainha tão amada !

This wasn’t a mistake. It was an accident. As for him wedging his gun between his legs is a mistake. Thankfully a good friend was there for him.. those shoes must be slippery with cobblestone. I’m just glad he’s okay.

I don't think the fall was a mistake, his feet literally slid out from under him on the slick part of the ground. Now the "mistake" he was about to make with his gun, thankful for his buddy that stopped that.

If a US service member were to do that they would more than likely be low in rank and have never handled a firearm. The gun isn't loaded but there is a bayonet at the end of it and the ground is slick. Dude is a moron.

I'm pretty sure that other soldier who helped him up is an NCO "sergeant" or a Warrant Officer "you can tell from the red sash that he's wearing", pretty much a more senior individual, a leader of sorts. So it's kind of expected that he'd go into damage control mode.

I've got a pair from surplus. They make a good field boot (as that was their original purpose), but a good dress boot on occasion. They slip very easily on any metal surface and some wet pavements, but one eventually learns how to walk in them without slipping. The occasional slide does happen, nevertheless, and some are more extravagant than others!
