From my home town of Aylesbury. Fish used to live 2 streets away. A real genuine nice fella. Always had time for fans. Great memories of growing up in the 80’s . All of the band were real and approachable.

Just watched this , Feb 2024. I still love Marillion after 42 years . An Hour Before Its Dark Is just brilliant. But I think the guitar lick on Hearts of Lothian is my favourite guitar lick . Tingles up the back every time. But Mariliion were definitely special and a breath of fresh air in the 1980s post 70s prog scene. I saw then three nights in a row at Hammersmith Odean on the Fugazi tour and of course Reading 83 and Script. Best band ever.

@@garymitchell5899he is saying that Fish let himself go after this and put on loads of weight and couldn't sing as good and his performance suffered. He was obviously unhappy and left the band just as the were getting really big.

Met Fish and Ian Mosely at a sound check in the Hammersmith Odeon in '85, genuine nice guys. Derek Dick became Fish, one of the best poet lyricist ever to pleasure our ears.

This was a great and never come back time. I remember Nov 1985 after a great show of Marillion, we came out of the concert hall and dancing with Western boots in the snow. Before and after we went with my first car, a 2 CV with my friends to Rock am Ring also in 1985, Mannheim and Loreley! Thank you for this gift 🙏❤️

Thank you for putting this up. 🙏 The angst, poetry, aggression and almost ethereal nature of the lyrics, vocal and instrumentation hasn't been matched by anyone before or since in my life. I listen to Marillion and my heart wants to go too war, for love of course. 🌻🏴‍☠️

I used to want to see them during this period while they still had Fish after he left they turned into Genesis clone which was a real shame at that time by then Genesis had turned into a shifty commercial pop band with Shit albums like Duke and Abacab which were both pure shit!!!

Fantastic thanks for the upload.......saw the script tour in a bradford nightclub! Cost £3 😊 for the ticket and still have the album they all signed on the day and they sat in the foyer as we left......unforgettable night ......what a front man fish was 👌🎶🎵 still one of my favourite albums

What a crowd : what a band, still are. It was suggested by KZfaq. Really enjoyed the performance of Misplaced Childhood, when Fish said this was the first time they’d played outside when not at a festival- it’s a kind of Garden situation, I literally shouted Yeaaahhb!

Absolutely superb this performance. These days were most probably the highest point of their career! The attitude, the energy of all, the perfection of the interpretation of the songs, the voice, the set list, the crowd in ecstasy, ohh great days!! One of the greatest bands in the world definitely.

Thank you for posting this. I was there that night (my first Marillion concert) ❤️ I can certainly say that this is the full broadcast of an Italian TV (Videomusic) but it is not the complete show. Now I can't remember what they played before Misplaced Childhood but I'm quite sure they also played Assassing and Cinderella Search. I think the whole show was more than an hour and a half long. Nevertheless, GREAT UPLOAD, thank you so much (a truck full of memories hit me....)

what a group! For sure MArillion in the fish era is always linked with my childhood. There was some magic in it in the songs, artwork, thematics, and shows that unfortunately i couldn`t relate after he left. The memories will stand !

I flatted with a Glaswegian in the 80s. Wrong city, but "Mid-Lothian" reminds me so much of him 'spraying the pheremones on' and walking out the door done up to the nines, "I'm goon out tae get ma hole" At the same time, the same thing was happening every British city and town. (Different accents of course).

Hadn’t known they played “Forgotten Sons” in 85

They played Forgotten sons mostly in June. And this was their last performance until 17th Augusts' Donington Which to my disappointment they didn't play it.(along with not playing Jigsaw or P&J wasn't really bothered they didn't play Cinderella Search tho. Anyway I digress. Then in September they only played four dates of their UK tour...two in Dublin and a Belfast gig where they played Forgotten Sons BUT I'm not sure but looks highly likely that it was the song that caused trouble with Derek's vocals as it got dropped after that. The Sept 9th Warrington gig had to be rescheduled for Jan 86 as Fish lost his voice. And the 10th September Marquee gig they played with mostly the crowd singing along to Fish's broken voice. They cancelled the UK tour. Then on the 12/9 the infamous Top of the Pops "Lavender" lip sync with Fish holding the lyrics on a giant pad happened. As for Forgotten Sons it became to the Forgotten song as they didn't play it again if ever. I'm not sure.

Was at Maysfield Belfast, Fish did like a false encore 2/3 of the crowd left we stayed Marillion came back on stage the sound of the 1/3 left us, was like a bomb going off the rest of the crowd rushed back, best rendition of FS Fish really did go for it he understood the situation and Maril were charting is there any recording of this have never heard one?
