Am I the only one who was fully on board the Phantom's hype train back when we were kids? I thought it was going to not only come out, but really change the landscape of console gaming. I told all of my friends about it and how amazing it was going to be. lol As a console + PC gaming lover, the thing seemed like a dream come true(considering it was the early 2000's). I knew the company was a huge underdog to compete with Sony/MS/Ninty, but I thought they were gonna pull it off and at the very least carve out their own decent sized hardcore fanbase. I was so disappointed when it kept getting pushed back and eventually cancelled. Getting hyped for things like the Phantom as a kid really made me a skeptical adult. These days I always find it hard to put my trust into unknown companies who are planning on creating an amazing product, building, theme park, etc. Really any type of difficult project. For example there's this amazing crystal lagoon resort+Mattel Adventure theme park being built near me in Arizona. We've never got any cool theme park resorts here in AZ and finally getting one here was something I used to want so bad as a kid. So it feels like a childhood dream coming true. And it's already half way finished being built, yet I'm still being negative expecting it to fail. I'm finding it hard to believe it will even be completed(let alone live up to the hype). It's hard to be positive, I've been let down too many times. 😂😭 Idk how investors trust random ass companies borrowing millions of dollars expecting them to live up to their promises. It's wild to me the kinds of projects people pour tons of money into lol. If anything, seeing how many failed/scam Kickstarter projects there's been over the years has only solidified my skeptical nature. I just can't trust anyone enough to get hyped and emotionally invested into ideas/projects. let alone give them money too. lol

Man, Rare getting bought out by Microsoft is one of gaming's travesties. I know people say that Rare wasn't the same Rare and that even if the buyout didn't happen we wouldn't have had great games from them again to that I say I disagree. Lots of the people who made Rare, well Rare left after the Microsoft buyout, probably would've sticked around longer had it not happened. I just wish we could've gotten Donkey Kong Racing, Banjo-Threeie, and Conker's Other Bad Day on GameCube, who knows maybe they would've helped the GC do better, we'll never truly know. Can't believe there's an alternative universe out there where GameCube does indeed have those titles. Nintendo should've bought Rare after the N64 era, they proven themselves at that point imo.

If they made the N64 DD out of a standard but copy protected zip disk in 1998 then they could have really competed. Zip disk was faster then CD at the time.
