Well the only GM cars I like are Corvette, camaro, and CTS V equipped with V8s, other GM cars are trash imo, for a daily would rather have a Japanese with a manual transmission

@@ryadhasanahmed5443 Yeah it's one of those things where GM knows they can't skimp when it comes to those cars so they put more quality in them while all the other ones are junk and purely profit driven. It's kind of like Ford. A lot of their cars are nightmares as they age but the F-150 trucks are usually really good. You have to be careful what you buy with some brands.

The difference now is that the president of GM is an engineer, not a bean counter like before. And the guy in charge of the team designing this car is a very serious, mature engineer who really knows what he is doing. Then on top of that, GM is not building this car on the same line as the rest of their junky cars, this one is built by a specific team of assemblers. All of the above information I read about, so I'm hoping it's all true.

I worked on many of the composite exterior and structural parts on the C8. I was incredibly impressed by how many people kept things quiet during the development. It was like our own Skunk Works. I'm not "The American Car" fan so much, but GM really did an outstanding job by breaking with tradition. I'm very proud of their achievement. Thank you for the video!

Most of the cars he reviews are aimed to be daily drivers, so maximum reliability is key. The people who buy this car don't care nearly as much about that and drive the car hard. Most people won't be daily driving this car so reliability isn't nearly as important. (it still is to a degree though, but its still way more reliable than a modern beamer (old beamers like the e30s were tanks) which sometimes won't even last 60k miles)

Great honest unbiased review Scotty! Giving credit where credit is due! I am often critical of GM products myself,but I give them great respect & praise for doing the unthinkable! This new C8 Corvette is pure awesomeness! They have turned the automotive industry on it's head & proving that they can build a world class vehicle & undercut the others by thousands!! Right?!? Just a few days ago I was watching him rail against Ford for the dual clutch transmissions in the Fiestas and Focuses for being too complicated and prone to expensive repairs. Same for electronically adjustable suspensions. All these things are going to make repairing the new Corvette prohibitively expensive. A regular strut and spring suspension and a manual trans would be a lot easier and less expensive to service and a lot less prone to failure. As one of the others said, I thought this might have been alternate universe Scotty.

Yeah you say that but the materials used on this car is the same as in any other car aluminum and steel. It’s not a carbon fibre tub it doesn’t have a hybrid system that gives 800+ horsepower it’s not economical compared to rivals. It’s not rare it’s mass produced and let’s face it it’s a pushrod American engine. Also I think it will never feel like a r8, Nissan GT-R, Mercedes gtr, Lamborghini nor a Ferrari 458. Or Infact the new ford gt. Ford gt has more power even though it’s a v6 and more aerodynamic and much better suspension and it races in Le Mans. Simply just moving the engine to the back doesn’t make it a super car. Or better than others. The game is already up A LOT you just gotta do a bit more research corvette has A LOT to catch up....

The 2020 Corvette is the most impressive vehicle GM has ever produced. For years, people argued that the Corvette was a great car "for the money". Now, you can drop that last bit. The Corvette is a great car, full stop. That it's half the price of its competition just makes it that much better.

I agree. I am an old school corvette lover primarily for the styling, but the past 5 years of corvettes have finally seen them as serious sports cars. The 2020 model can hold ranks stye wise and probably almost performance wise close to Lambos, Ferrari's and McClarens.

Drove a bright red 2018 Vette all around FLA couple of years ago. It was a 'free upgrade' hahaha. What a fine car. The shocking thing was it rode like a caddy. Smooth, quiet, and comfy. And that was the previous version with only...oh, 500 HP. Hahah. Fantastic experience. Almost made me want to...buy one...almost. The thing is, when GM wants to build a top shelf top quality car, they can do it. Every detail in that Vette was perfect. And I mean everything.

I own a 2019 Grand Sport Corvette it’s been a blast. No issues at 23k miles. For the price go ahead and get that vette. It’s just about a super car experience at a very reasonable price.

They've been making these things for decades, I don't think it'll be that unreliable than many of the other GM cars. Plus, people don't buy these for reliability anyways because people who like these cars generally beat the hell out of them, and the most they'll probably get out of any transmission is around 100k miles, no matter how reliable

Hmmm.. As far as it being the 'first model year, which you shouldn't buy' - while that may be the case for some vehicles (in hindsight of course), it's not the case for _every_ vehicle. I don't think that should just stop someone from buying a car when they want it. But, hindsight is always 20/20, right? Either way, if I had the money, I probably would have bought the first model year also for both the C7 and C8. The only reason I would wait for either would be if I wanted the Z06's lol. Or, instead of waiting, you could just buy the base model and put 25 grand into suping it up. Regardless, I don't think Scotty is *too* worried about money, as you can see.

The great thing about American sports cars is that they are much much less expensive Europian, mostly due to them having to be imported. And they are more mass-produced rather than the Europian ones

I'm doing a work place experience at a GM dealership right now. Someone bought a new 2020 Corvette for $103k. They were doing the final touches before they gave it to the customer and had to update/repair the system because the front trunk wouldn't open with the key fob. After they did that the car wouldn't start. Just got the new motor for it after about 3 weeks of it sitting.

I just build and priced a 2020 C8 Corvette Stingray 6. 2 liter with a silver paint job, carbon fiber red fade accents, LT3 package, badging inside and out, brembo red brake calipers 5 blade corvette custom rims, racing exhaust, and some other upgrades. The total came out to $94,615. It would be cool to put a high rise manifold with twin screw super charger, dual four barrel fuel injected carbs and some sort of intake scoop through a rear polished plastic molded window on and make it a super modified C8 stingray and the drag strip roll cage!!!!
