yeah, this looks amazing. unfortunately I have too many games I’ve bought and still haven’t even cracked open yet so it’ll have to sit on my wishlist. hopefully the afterlife includes an area where we can sit around and play our Switches because otherwise I’m never going to finish my backlog...

Thanks for pointing out the accessibility options! Too often I find I'll never get to see how a roguelike game's story pans out because I just never get good enough or want to put in the excessive amount of time to get good enough. I understand it's often more about the journey in these types of games, but I'm glad the devs put options in there for when I inevitably get burnt out by the high difficulty after many runs. It certainly increases the appeal for me tremendously!

Just picked this up last night, and I could see this joining my all time favorite roguelites. The combat is just so damn slick, it feels incredible. Its the Super Meat Boy of action games

I don't think I can resist this one. The 60 fps, and the absolutely rock solid controls have me hooked. I played the demo a ridiculous number of times. Thanks for the great rewiew as always!

Looks cool. Yeah, im actually kinda surprised at the fact that some years ago Roguelike games were just a little niche, and know it looks like everyone wants to make their own Roguelike, wich I actually like cuz I love the genre. Gonna pick this one in the near future, thanks for the review Glen.

I'm not that much into roguelikes but this is not the same as hades, I enjoyed hades cuz the upgrades were meaningful and it has replay value which is the main concept of roguelikes, but here many of the upgrades are forced and many are focused on the gun with no real alternative option for sword, each area have 2 shops one for guns add-ons and the other for guns/health/sword upgrades (which is only increased damage basically) so if u like to use the sword u are stuck with only 1/6 of the available upgrades to carry ur run which ultimately fails, I got all the "roguelites" upgrades which are carried from run to run and I have too much excess of that currency and still I can't manage to finish one run, sry but this game fails in every roguelike aspect. and before u say gitgud or something similar, don't get me wrong I'm all for in for challenge in games, I have finished cuphead many on S ranked and celeste with b and c chapters and the pantheons in hollow knight but this game is just so unrewarding and it's the first time in my life that I feel I should have liked the game but I just simply couldn't TLDR; don't take the word of the reviews cuz most of them didn't get to finish the game and, I even recommended the game for my friends in the early hours of the gameplay but now it's the opposite.

(SPOILERS FOR THE END OF THE GAME) I really like how the bosses are called "Judges". Instead of being called "Bodyboulder", he is called "Judge Bodyboulder". It's an emphasis on how they are "judging" for a new Pilot. If they can't beat the Judges, then they are unworthy of becoming the Scourge's Pilot.

The formula for this game reminds me so much of Moonlighter. Somewhat similar anesthetics, and progression formula.

Played the demo yesterday and was hoping you guys would give it a review. My first impression was great although my backlog is just to big right now. I’ll put it on my watch list if it goes on sell it’s a for sure buy. Otherwise I’ll wait for my back log to get a bit smaller. Loved the visuals and controls of this.

Hello, the graphics remind me of old Imagine games on the Spectrum 48k and Commadore 64k, it does look really difficult though and I still have Hades to keep me busy

This one looks very good. I played the demo and really enjoyed it. Definitely gonna pick it up once I’m done with Hades! I got the true ending last night but I still have so much more to unlock! No shortage of rogue likes but the ones this year have been amazing

I love this game I’m at the point where I’m reaching the 5th biome every attempt or the 4th There is a 6th biome that can be accessed after beating the 5th judge But you must activate the roots of chaos that can be accessed at the chiming tree after beating the final boss for the first time

Last pre order demo I tried was neon abyss and I lived it so much I bought it. Next thing you know it had huge performance issues. I didn't let that discourage me from picking up this gem. First of all you can change the game speed. . . Like 👌🏽

Although I’m not the best at the fast paced roguelike games and do have dodgy blood pressure and often feel pain grip my heart whilst playing frustrating titles or fear inducing title’s like outlast I am gunna give this one a good go. I’m still alive and playing games so haven’t had a game finish me off yet (selfish if you ask me 😏) so bring it on scourgebringer. But no seriously I might need to tell my wife and kids I love them before playing this one cuz it looks like this game is gunna take its toll on me 😂 Great video and nice amount of detail given to the regions of the game that are most important. Would agree about the soundtrack after just the clips and the silky smoothness of the combat looks amazing. I probably won’t use the accessibility options though ( 10 mins later I’m probably gunna turn every setting on )

I'm playing on Xbox (it's on Game Pass) but I'll get it on Switch at some point as I'm really enjoying it. You definitely need to use the health drop assist though, the default setting is ridiculous 😅

I have a budget of only one game. My choices are Trials of Mana or ScourgeBinger. What should I go with. I’ve tried demo of both the games and I’m in love with both of them. I’ll be buying both of them anyway but as of now I can buy only one.

If you want a story and clear progression, get Trials. If you want a game you can return to, trying to get better as you go and improve on your previous run, get ScourgeBringer. Hope that helps. Glen

It has a really slick look, but man, the structure just looks exactly the same as a zillion other of these games I've already played. Good presentation just isn't enough anymore, I think these things need to be doing something a bit more unique to really stand out. Fight through a difficult procedurally generated level, beat a boss, get random power-ups for that run along the way, while gaining a secondary resource that gets you permanent unlocks for further runs, etc, etc. It's like... I haven't played THIS game, but... I've played this game, ya know? Kinda sad. I really do dig the look of it. Just wish the concept wasn't done in to the dirt at this point.

Not a big fan of rogue like games since get easily frustrated with them, why is it some best indie games usually rogue like ones. I love I find this game was just simple action adventure platformer. Maybe I wait till price goes down alittle more. Does look like an awesome game

Same, until I was persuaded by SwitchUp to try Hades. The game didn't change my assessment of this genre as a whole: I still find the formula deeply unappealing, and I won't be tempted by ScourgeBringer. But Hades, with its masterpiece storytelling and the charitable exp accumulation system, gives a meaningful narrative arc to the whole "die and repeat" chore. Much recommended.

People can make whatever they want. I feel like some people think game development is just one studio. "We already have enough games like this!" You say, but that would only be reasonable to say if like a specific game studio kept making the same game over and over. These are indie devs, individuals that started their projects long ago before any of this exploded in popularity. Yes I agree theres a lot of games like this already, but why does that matter? If you don't like to play games like these, its not going to halt development of games you _actually_ want to play, so who gives a shit?
