How is it that despite having some of the worst primary variety, literally every single one of Scout's secondary weapons are viable in some way or another?

I was actually considering going back to the winger. It was my first unlock and soundsmith said a bunch of positive stuff about it in the weapon stereotypes. So my little naive brain thought "Ey big youtube dude say its good! it must be good!" And I was right! All scouts pistols fill a niche which no other can, and I have to admit this just convinced me to going back about a year and then some and staying with this wingman again.

Why use anything else when if you have this, the atomiser, and the soda popper you can recreate Poochie's final moments as he travel back to his home planet, as Scout TF2 from the popular game Team Fortress 2.

Hey! I'm a mapper for TF2 and Portal 2, with most maps, those "spots" where you can jump were probably not intended by the mappers, it's likely the collision of the prop that the mapper didn't bring too much attention on let you do this :)

Honestly, the downside isn't even bad. I mainly only use the pistol to finish off opponents, so the damage buff is good, and entirely negates the clip size downside. In my opinion, it should be meta.

The Winger combined with the Atomizer lets you do anything and get anywhere, it’s actually insane. Get the 25% higher jump from the Winger then if you time it right, you can also use the third jump from the Atomizer, and then the sky’s the limit with the amount of mobility you have

I've always been a winger supremacist. I couldn't imagine playing on Harvest without it; the movement is just too fluid when I have it, and it really helped to cement Harvest as my favorite map. Glad to see some love for the weapon

I found the most of my jumps on harvest, you can jump onto the roof from spawn on those boxes and get to the other team real early. There is also a spot on the big blue barn where there is a light you can jump on from the roof of the point. You can also go on the boxes outside of mid and jump on the roof from there. You can also jump up to shed with the boxes stacked by the side, and from the shed to the roof across (you could already do this but it is much harder).

I personally have always loved using the winger, scout already capitalizes on high mobility, so using it plus the damage boost, and they can't hit you because your jump archs look different from what their used to, whats not to love?

I just started playing TF2 again and I always loved playing as Scout. seeing the Winger already equipped, makes me feel that I knew, that the higher jump gives so much more potential in movement. As a CoD player, movement is such an important factor for a shooter and that's why I love Scout and hate Heavy :p

I genuinely love the Winger and similar weapons for Scout, which is why I have a load out for him that is the Atomizer, Winger,and Force of Nature, I also know you can get out of sewers to the middle area in 2Fort with them.

Personally, I cannot live without the Pretty Boy’s Pocket Pistol. It makes it worthwhile to pick at far away targets that can’t hurt you because of the healing you’ll get, and the higher dps at minimal cost is a nice addition. Also, WHAT ABOUT THE ATOMIZER? It provides an equal, if not better boost to your upwards mobility, and opens up your secondary slot for a more useful weapon!

I know it's not optimal but I also find that the winger synergizes nicely with the babyface's blaster, more so than the stock pistol, and about as well as the prettyboy's and cleaver. The extra height allows you to make jumps where you can't spare the boost for a double jump, and the added bonus damage allows you to build a bit better of boost by just firing into distant fights before diving in.

The Ultimate “More Jumpy, Less Shooty” Loadout (TUMJ,LSL): Soda Popper, for extra jumps when the boost is active and the knock back on shot, the Winger, you already know why, and the Atomizer for triple jump when equipped. Jumps could be like: double Winger jump, switch to the Atomizer for the triple jump then switch for the Soda Popper for the knock back

The winger and pocket boy have always been my favorite. But I tend to use the winger more, just because the extra height on my jumps combo's really well with my playstyle of "Fly scout", aka fuck you, I might not be able to hit you, but you can't hit me either. Basically just be a minor annoyance that can cause major distractions for my team to push.

Why not just run atomizer and save yourself a slot for the PBPP? It's perfect for getting back that 6 health you'd normally grab a large health pack for as a scout.

After I started using the Winger a few months back, I havent been able to stop. At this point, losing the Winger's mobility would feel like being hit in the kneecaps. There are SO many situations where you can just winger jump instead of doing awkward crouch jumps over props, making movement feel fluid

It's also worth mentioning how useful the extra jump height can be when dealing with the enemy players. Being able to manually alter your jump height means more possibilities for juxing your opponent and exhausting their shots while you're dancing in the air around them, pelleting them with lead.

Former FROYO scout Freestate also liked to use it a lot, which inspired me to start running it more often.

My personal favourite efficient jump is on plr_hightower where you can jump from the balcony to the hightower if you stand on the railing and double jump you can BARELY make it without the winger so its a ton of fun to use on community servers

I LOVE this thing with the Back Scatter! It's so easier to get behind enemy lines when you can jump a bit higher.

1:56 Not sure if you meant to imply that this jump is impossible, but you actually can jump from the planters to the central pagoda roof on koth_king with stock. It's a bit tricky, but definitely doable.

What's even great about the winger is how you can vary your jumps rather having the same height for both jumps. You can either have a normal + high jump, high + normal jump, or high + high jump giving you a bit more unpredictability in your jump patterns, arguably still a bit predictable since you're airborne but hey they have to aim higher/farther now.

i think me and most other people prefer the atomizer over the winger, even though you can get some extra mobility with the winger, atomizer does essentially the same thing and also opens up your pistol slot for stock/pocket pistol. Im aware of the jumps you can get with both, but most are usually quite situational and you could get more kills with the pistol finishing people off at a distance than you could with the different spots both the weapons give you

There are a few jumps where you will barely be unable to make it with the winger. However, just hold down crouch in mid air.

Not so long ago i realized how underrated the force a nature is. If you use it with the winger and the atomizer, you can perform four air jumps.

I recently found out that the 25% jump height bonus is actually more like a *50%* jump height bonus. What it increases by 25% is the jump _velocity,_ but the effect of that on jump height is squared. It increases the perfect double jump + crouch max height from 117 HU to 171 HU, which is a pretty big increase. This applies to MvM jump height upgrades, too. Buying 3 ticks of jump height and holding the Winger actually gives you *4x* jump height, not just 2x.

My favorite Scout secondary- If you’re on Hightower you can jump up the main tower from below and get the drop on Soldiers spamming your spawn. It also makes the jump to mid on Granary easier :)

I remember playing this game years ago, and pistol was super important to my scout playstyle, because of this I could get away with running the Force-a-Nature for more mobility. Also Idk if they changed it but I recall Engineer's pistol having much more ammunition, which meant swapping pistols in spawn was really nice when possible.

The Soda popper winger atomizer loadout are scout's version of engy's rescue ranger wrangler eureka effect setup Always fun being able to jump onto a ledge for a sniper and sneak up infront of their scope only to unload 2 slugs into the. Or More humiliating atomizer bat taunt killing them 😂 People forget scout can counter sniper if they use their brains and use something else other than stock. Its really funny when you can simply double jump over a sentry's range too as it doesn't react fast enough turning around and up. Though takes practice.

The winger is fuckinf amazing for the fact that it negetates splash damage from rockets, not to mention the massive utility it can have. I've gone 20-1 on hightower with singlehandedly the winger. probably my favorite scout weapon

I wish the atomizer used its 3rd jump first, so you could switch from winger to atomizer on any of your jumps and suddenly be jumping higher or lower to throw off snipers while still keeping a third, smaller jump in your pocket for situations like that.

Winger kicks ass and has a cool design. The extra jump height is really fun to see how many weird little spots you can get into.

This raises the eternal question of Winger vs Atomizer. They can be used in conjunction, but there's some major overlap between the weapon's niches and their benefits don't really work together, since you can only have one out at once. This means that equipping both is in many ways sub-optimal. The atomizer does most of what the winger does, without having to give up your more reliable pistol (instead just giving up your melee, which for many scout builds isn't used at all). The question then becomes: do the upsides of the winger justify equipping it when so much of its utility is covered by the atomizer for free? The main benefits of the winger are faster switch speed and being able to do big jumps while shooting (albeit less sustained dps than your pistol would be). There's some utility for that, but if you're just using it to do rollouts and get into position while out of combat, the atomizer doesn't seem any worse. There's also of course utility for people who want to equip a different melee than atomizer, but outside of 6v6 where you need the basher for uber, there aren't really many situations where your secondary slot is less valuable than your melee slot. That's not looking good for the winger camp. Now the final point that I THOUGHT put the nail in the coffin for the winger is the actual jump heights. My assumptions about the jump heights made me think the winger is +25% height for two jumps, meaning an effective 250% jump height. This would put it well below the atomizer's theoretical 300% jump height (and additional horizontal jump distance), and leave it pretty much trounced on ever level. BUT, after testing it on tr_walkway, it seems to me that the atomizer's three jumps somehow results in less jump height than the winger's two +25% jumps. This probably has something to do with how tf2 calculates gravity - maybe it's actually increasing the force of his jump by +25%, which for some reason results in a higher total jump height than a third distinct jump. Whatever the reason, the winger seems to give a bit higher jump height, while the atomizer of course provides more horizontal airtime. As someone who values mobility a whole damned lot, I'm going to have to play winger scout a lot more now. Looks like it still has its own niche. Side note, you can actually fairly reliably do a jump with the winger, then swap over to the atomizer by the time the second jump ends and benefit from both in one round of airtime, but it's pretty clunky and means not shooting while jumping, which again negates part of the benefit of the winger in the first place.

the thing with the winger is that it only has 5 bullets and its a little out shined by the pretty boy pocket pistol and the stock pistol but it is a solid option for scout

The Sydney sleeper is also underrated. It is better than stock because of its 25% guaranteed (no bar or requirement) increased charge rate. It can also extinguish allies from afar. And even if it doesn’t finish of an enemy you should have a teammate to finish them off. It’s downsides isn’t really much of a downside since on fully charged headshot it can finish off any non overhealed class. And a headshot with it equipped will reduce the remaining cooldown on Jarate.

The Winger can also be combined with the Shortstop (and Wrap Assassin if feeling especially sneaky) for the ultimate mid-range Scout...a gameplay loop with absurd survivability and excellent harassment/finishing potential.

Winger + atomizer + force of nature/soda popper = ultimate scout movement

This is my personal opinion, but I think using plain is better. Atomizer is a better choice due to its 3rd jump which allows more control and slightly less height, emphasis on slightly. The difference is so little that it doesn't matter. Use Scattergun, Stock, and Atomizer.

Fun fact, you can go over the blast radius of stickies and rockets if you time it right, making you an even bigger pain in the ass against them

What brought me to the Winger is that I adored the movement of the Atomizer, but I wanna have access to the range of the Wrap Assassin. It’s been wonderful so far

Even though it is fun, i’d say the atomizer has alot more upsides, such as having more control of your jumps and not having to switch out a weapon that comes in handy very often

Along with the force of nature and that one bay that lets you triple jump, you will be everywhere on the map

ngl i think the shortstop is far more underrated than the winger. everyone seems to think it's a trash weapon that gets outclassed by the scattergun but those people have never two tapped a scout in a 1v1 before the other guy could even fire a second shot. i've never played with any version of the shortstop other than the current one, so i have no memories of it being better or worse than it currently is, but it is so fucking fun to use. also i *think* the shove might actually be useful for shoving trolldiers away but i've not actually remembered to try using it when i'm facing one.

kind of new to the game and recently got the winger, genuinely clueless with how some weapons effect gameplay, so this is definitely an eye opener!
