I feel like Eric was someone who cared for 066 and because of this 066 willingly let Eric cut it's threads. However, after rit was put under containment, it didn't realise since it hadn't grown eyeballs yet. So, it continued to assume it was under Eric's care. When the Class-D went to cut it's hair, 066 felt this and asked if the Class D was Eric. After the Class-D responded with no, 066 realised where it was, and grew restless.

Wow, so the SCP Foundation saw this wholesome ball of yarn that had nothing but good things about it; it played nice music, turned into affectionate animals and the Foundation thought “you know what we should do; cut it up for testing”. This one reminds me of the chair that would teleport to whoever suddenly felt the need to sit down. It was harmless until the GOC threw it in a wood chipper. After that it became hostile to anyone wearing lab coats or foundation uniforms. Even though it's fiction, I feel bad for the SCPs that only became violent after being harmed by either the foundation or the GOC.

Speaking of theirs a proposed SCP I read and I don’t know if it ever got made into an official one. It was inspired by a skit on KZfaq and was called The Door Monster. It is an anomalous door that activates when the porch light is turned on a person in a poor quality prison outfit will appear with a Halloween bucket or pillow case and demand candy and will not leave even after getting candy appearing once more with an empty bag as long as the light is on. You can kill him and a new manifestation of the same exact person will appear once more. You can explain to him what he is and even show him the body but seems incapable of comprehending the information, it’s unknown if this is an effect of the door or if he’s just an idiot. Their was a researcher tasked with it that’s really annoyed with having to deal with the persistence and ignorance of the SCP and had to specifically get told to stop killing it’s manifestations

think about this: The song in the beginning, the one about scissors safety, could be about Eric. Eric could have been a kid who had the yarn for a toy or an imaginary friend. But ig he then figures out its a creature thing but still loves it the same. Eric ends up hurting himself with scissors and the creature witnesses it. Its playful because it thought it was a toy or friend but then the scissors brought up memories and it misses Eric... i thought way too much into this.

Maybe Eric’s parents tried to destroy it by cutting it up or they threw it away once they discovered its anomalous properties, hence why it became hostile when the D-class said they weren’t Eric. Would be a sad theory, that it was hurt or thrown away and just misses its owner.

I have the feeling that the Eric its talking about isn't bad. When he came into the foundation, Erics Toy was still normal. After it was provoked by the scientists it became the form its in until this day. When new scientists came in, its shape didn't change. I think its possible that it doesn't hate Eric but actually misses him. Maybe it really was Erics Toy and it wants to go back to Eric so its looking for him.

Do you think Eric is another key individual that may or may not be important to the Foundation? Since a few SCPs seem to have the name Eric on them Example: -This entire SCP is named Eric's Toy -The Sentient Calculator has the name Eric engraved onto its removable case -The Personality Tape (I think) also has Eric engraved onto its bottom side

This poor little SCP man, it was just a joyful little thing and then it was given pain in return for it's kindness. Also as 066 is looking for Eric, but the fact it asks everyone if their Eric, it just remembers the name possibly, when it was found it may have been dormant for many years so, Eric might have passed away by now, or is a very old man, a large amount of time must have passed, removing it's mental image of what Eric looks.

There may be a connection between this and SCP-168, the sentient graphing calculator, because it has the name "Eric" carved into it. There used to be a Tale that had Eric as one of the Overseers paying a visit to 168, who suggested that he visit the yarn.

My theory would be the complete opposite, Eric was probably a kid, and in an accident, he produced a gruesome lasceration to himself with a pair of scissors; at that very moment the previously mundane ball of yarn became an anomaly, generating music to please Eric those days he was alone in his bedroom; until the kid's parents hear the anomaly's sounds, getting rid of it much to the regret of Eric. The reason I think this is because of SCP-066 first action after asking the question, that is, popping up eyes and staring to the D-class personnel, getting violent after realizing he was not Eric, and no one in the Foundation will ever be.

I remember seeing this SCP in the Containment Breach game. It rolled around and said "Eric" in an impossibly deep voice. It could also blast that Beethoven symphony really loud and make your character temporarily deaf.

It could be that eric had this scp and cut off strings for some other things or was just eric being sadistic and so the yarn either escaped or was given away to the scp foundation. So because it reacts negatively to the sniping of its yawn it could've reminded him of his mistreatment by eric so he changed to play agressive music to deafen them as revenge to eric and to other personal who attempts to castrate his yarns

SCP-066 Is like a human. If treated wrongly and is thought of otherworldly, it would react as if anyone would. It reacts to what humans think of it, treat it, and care about it. It takes notes. That's why it transformed into a cat. If Eric was its previous owner per-say, then everyone at the SCP Facility treated it wrongly, it would call for Eric for attention that it was not given before. It adapts to what people are going through and try's to help them if they let it. It was safe as long as you treated it correctly.

I think the reason he asked if he was Eric was from shock, the creature would have had to be in a sense blind in its calm form. I think is was very shocked too why someone would cut it after not doing anything too harm anyone. So it wanted to confirm who it was dealing with, that really destroyed its trust.
