SCP-1733 is a Safe Class anomaly also known as Season Opener.
SCP-1733 is a digital recording of the 2010-2011 NBA season opening game played at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts on 10/26/2010 between the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat. Although initially diverging from the original broadcast only negligibly, such as quarter point totals and occurrences of fouls, SCP 1733 has begun to markedly digress from the content of its earlier playbacks. But what's even stranger, is that the people seen on the tape, seem to be aware of their existence, trapped within the recording, remembering each and every play back.

7:45 Should've read the wiki more carefully: "Fans in the crowd also appear to be real human beings in all respects, and Foundation inquiries into the current status of these persons has found nothing of note." "Nothing of note" means they found nothing out of the ordinary, not that they found nothing at all. The fans were still around in the real world too.

This is a really big detail. The video implies that the real people are trapped in the tape, but the wiki pretty much says that the real people are fine and the tape just has an "alternate" version of them

It's interesting to discuss the implications of those two alternatives. If there are people missing in reality and trapped on the tape forever, only gaining consciousness when someone is playing it, that's horrible. If it'd be copies of real people, but still conscious and suffering because they're trapped, would that be any less horrible?

@@derboeseVlysher Honestly, after hearing that the wiki says the people still exist irl too, I'm convinced this video is viewing alternate timelines, confined to the stadium of that one game. Every rewatch results in the previous timeline being implemented into the minds of the crowd/players, and the doors being unbreakable is a result of them being trapped in a pocket dimension, with nothing actually being beyond the doors

Indeed. Either out of desperation or trying to find a legitimate answer to the predicament at hand , just to figure out why it happened and how they can try to escape. In regards to a time loop though, it may as well be a glitch in the timestream of entropy. They're at the mercy of forces trying to fix the loop

Theory : One of the crowd is a reality bender, though unknowingly used his or her reality bending effects to trap the people in the video. This might have been caused by the excitement of the game

Actually, that's just this video's representation of the SCP, from what I gathered here on the comments, unless it was changed, they DID find everyone on the tape, but discovered that there was nothing abnormal with them, making everyone in the tape a clone.

The SCP is also a digital recording on a DVR, not a VHS tape. This channel seems to make small changes to the SCP they make videos on.... for some reason

this might be of a different version of the article(like the teen succubus got a rewrite) edit: okay so i read the actual article and i think i found the issue, the one(literally) line that mentions the state of the recorded audience members outside of the video says "nothing of note.", which can be pretty easy to misread(nothing of interest or just nothing to find(i.e. missing)? it could've been worded better)

This particular scp is a time loop in the guise of a digital recording. At least it was a recording, and not affecting reality. However, given how sports is technically the same thing on a different day, just with different players and teams and fans in the crowd, it may as well feel like a timeloop

I wonder if they ever checked the camera and other hone recordings of the same game. If there are multiple tapes this way they could be experiencing multiple playbacks, and would suggest the tv camera is anomalous.

I actually have a theory about this one aswell.. I feel like this game was filmed in one of the reality’s eaten by the worm..and only these people survived for what ever reason because they were filmed but there stuck in the confines of Td garden ( which is a great place irl if you ever get the chance!) cuz the rest of their reality is just gone lol

The original article said that it came from just one guy's DVR that he uploaded to Facebook. The iteration he uploaded to Facebook was implied to stay the same every time it was played, and only show a minor deviation in the third quarter. The original broadcasts were fine, but I guess you're right that no other DVRs were mentioned, let alone home videos. This is one of my all time favorite SCPs but now I feel it's lacking something.

Why don't they make a TV show? Literally every video I watch or article I read on the Wiki makes me ask myself why are they not creating a show. Unlimited potential in all categories, from cosmic horror/ horror and mystery, to wholesome and friendly creatures like SCP-999. I am just shocked nobody has thought to do this yet.

You didn’t mention the last recording, the one where the arena is bathed in red light. But the rest is expunged. It seems like the child sacrifice managed to summon the Scarlet King into their world and the foundation expunged it to prevent people reading the file from learning how to summon the Scarlet King.

It ties into Gnosticism. There are higher and lower realms of reality in the SCP universe. IRL, the SCP is a site with a bunch of fictional stories, but to the characters in the stories it is reality, albeit a less perfect reality to our own. In the SCP universe, the recording is a less perfect reality of something that really happened in the SCP universe. And if someone trapped on the recording of the basketball game watched a movie on their phone, they would see an even less perfect universe to their own. It keeps going further and further down, becoming more hellish until at the bottom there is the red light.

Ok, so were the people real and erased from our reality or were they manifested by the SCP? Who attended the original game in person? The narrative says their whereabouts are unknown, not that they are missing or even have been identified. Only the players have real world counterparts that have a know location.

I rewatched the video. it stated it's unclear if they are real people or digital copies. it also specifically states that every person in the video is identical to their counterpart in the real world, so I was mistaken, every person in the video has a real world counterpart.

7:34- 8:00 Hey guys, I love this SCP and I love the work you do, but I have to point out that this part is totally fabricated. I read every single tale on 1733 and nowhere does it say that the audience members are fake, missing persons, or anything less than digital counterparts of real people living normal lives in the SCP universe. Laugh Is Fun is populated with people who disappeared or died, but not Season Opener.

Just before the video ended I got a weird feeling of deja vu. I felt like I seen the end of the video before from 12:45 to its end. Which is ironic considering what the video is about and the also because the narrator said "Have I seen this game before?". That is a very creepy experience. Probably just got it confused with one of his other videos.

This is one of my favorite SCPs, and this video's narrative differs from SCP 1733 in one major way: In the video it's stated that the Foundation was unable to locate any members of the audience, while in SCP 1733 it is stated that: "Fans in the crowd also appear to be real human beings in all respects, and Foundation inquiries into the current status of these persons has found nothing of note. For all intents and purposes, recorded entities appear to be the actual individuals but somehow abiding in a digital medium." This text is a little ambiguous, but to me it seems to be stating that the members of the audience went on living their lives normally after the game, just like the players, ("nothing of note") and the individuals in the recording are trapped copies of them.
