To clarify: earwigs do NOT generally seek out the ears of humans, or any other creature, as a hiding place; nor to lay their eggs. While it is possible for them to enter the ear canal by mistake, it is by no means their natural behavior. They do enjoy warm, damp environments; but they are far more likely to be found in leaf litter, under rocks or inside rotting logs than in the human ear. Awesome video, though; this is one of my favorite SCP's!!!

agreed, but its the "Generally" aspect, any other creature can move into your ear, spiders, moths, etc. But correct it is not natural but there are confirmed cases of this actually happening, with the eggs being laid as well! but I am glad you enjoyed it!

@@RoanokeGaming True, anything is possible; I mean, has an insect ever managed to make it's way into a person's ear? Yes; there are documented cases of this happening. However, I've never heard or read anything about one actually laying eggs in there. I know some flies will lay their eggs in open wounds, and some parasitic worms lay their eggs in various organs of the human body; but I believe that any story of earwigs laying eggs in a human ear is purely anecdotal. Then again, I could be wrong; my aunt never thought katydids could bite, but one of the little turds proved her wrong, too...

The keter ranking is given to SCPs based on how hard they are to contain, not how dangerous they are.

The ranking as I remember is ascribed to how much attention the SPCs require, Keter tend to be exceedingly difficult to contain and are often apocalyptic as well.

Orksy It is given based on how hard it is to contain, on the wiki it gives an example about how a button that destroys everything when pushed would be safe class because you could just but it in a box, but a cat that switches positions with another cat would be Keter class, because it would be exceedingly difficult to contain.

simpel box test If you lock it in a box, leave it alone, and nothing bad will happen, then it's probably Safe. If you lock it in a box, leave it alone, and you're not entirely sure what will happen, then it's probably Euclid. If you lock it in a box, leave it alone, and it easily escapes, then it's probably Keter. If it is the box, then it's probably Thaumiel.

“The reason why you generally don’t act out dreams.” This “paralysis while dreaming” mechanism does fail in some people, leading to extensive injuries. I heard a podcast describing a man who suffered from this, and at one point he actually dove out a window (he survived fortunately).

fun fact! the classification of an SCP isn't only based on it's danger, it's MOSTLY dependant on how difficult said SCP is to keep successfully contained. An extremely safe SCP may even be Euclid simply because of a teleportation ability or any other way of unnatural escape. Likewise an extremely dangerous SCP can be classed as Safe because it's in an easy to contain condition.

Class is based on how much attention and resources it requires to contain. Not how dangerous it is. See the box example for a better explanation.

Ight peeps, just to clarify: he’s simply joking about the “earwig entering your ear”. It’s an old myth your parents would tell you to stop playing with them 🤷🏻♂️ However, earwigs have been known to enter your ear... by accident of course. Same with other bugs.

Earwig pincers are solely for wrestling with other earwigs, that’s why on normal earwigs the pincers are usually asymmetrical with one being longer than the other to make grasping and piercing the thin sleek bodies of other earwigs easier. They use them as defense in a secondary measure but they aren’t good weapons so this usually is futile

If it makes you feel better, earwigs have almost never crawled into a human's ear before, and it would most likely only be accidental I they did.
