At long last, here is the beta version of the scrap buster “house”; the idea book that holds my scrap buster items. It uses 3 sheets of 12” x 12” Tim Holtz paper (this one is Memoranda, but any/all of his collections work well) and 4 sheets of thick paper or card stick. I’ve used Braille paper in here. In the next few days I’ll show you how I made the cover, the spine and how I’ve sewn in the signature. Thank you for your patience and for watching. Happy creating!
ETA: Scrap Buster item list and corresponding video:
1= journal cards & scrap clusters
2= bookmarks & envelopes
3= Gayle fold-down (Gayle Agostinelli) & die cuts/punches
4= negative space & fold-over pockets
5= match books & paper clips (including Paper Attic side pocket paper clip)
6= scrap cards & scrap pads
7= stamp cards & square-fold envelopes
8= tabs & tags
9= top-flip trifolds & tucks
10= belly bands & windows/frames
11= 3-pocket full page & top tucks
12= top fold-downs (Laura Bame ) & paper snippet rolls
13= triangle tucks (2) & shaped pockets
14= collage pages & pocket flips
15 & 16 (one video)= stacked pockets (3), button spots, concertina books (Wendy Townsend) & Tracie 2-sides (Tracie Fox)
17= books/notebooks & page borders and reinforcements)
Extra items made/mentioned:
Rita Donnelly flip
Hermalinda tag
Faux postage stamps
Layered paper flowers

Keep doing what you do and do it your way. Isn’t that what art is? Those who don’t understand hopefully will, eventually, as they learn more. Or, unfortunately for many, they never will, because of an inability to ever understand. It’s just who they are. Your art is amazing. I wouldn’t watch crafting videos if they were all the same. It’s the artist’s take on a technique that make the videos and the art so beautifully individual. And that’s what keeps me searching KZfaq for more. Thank you for sharing your ideas and your art.🙂

That was not a rant, but a very kind response to some whiny babies. I LOVE that you took the time and care to make your idea book beautiful and full of tiny details that make you happy, like the little bell from your grandmother (a great idea i might steal, by the way, as I have some similar bells from a door bell pull that I have from my grandparents' home). You allowing yourself to slow down and enjoy the process instead of just getting it done really inspires me, because sometimes I have a tendency to feel rushed after I watch a bunch of videos and get a false sense of urgency. So thanks for being you!

I agree, do what makes you happy. I love playing with papers and turning them into pages I love to look at. I adore this book of yours! Fun ideas and the pages are so fun to look at. Marvelous “Idea book!). I now have so many ideas to play with. The folded piece that holds 4 tags that Gayle showed us, I made 4 more tags for the back and gave it to my 2 1/2 yr old granddaughter, for she loves to play with putting tags in their place. Thanks again for sharing all these ideas and how to do them. They’ll keep me busy for an entire journal!

I love your channel soooo much that I’m using it as my “degree” in journal making. I’m going to make me a journal like this for myself. I’m new to journaling/paper crafts. About 15+ yrs ago I bought what came to be 2 dressers worth of scrapbooking materials- but never did anything with any of it. Now I have a great opportunity to do journaling. As I learn to make each of these components I’ll be putting it in my idea journal. This is such a pleasure for me. Thanks for sharing what you know.

It is what feeds the soul. It is what gives us appreciation for the human ability to express ideas into tangible items. It encourages independent thought and interpretation. I am no spring chicken but rather an old hen who is living the importance of keeping your mind working. Your journal is a great example of how to keep the wheels turning ..and have a beautiful work of art that is your own creation! Thank you for providing this experience.

Why do naysayers feel the need to comment? I love the idea of making journals like this. How wonderful it would be to open a book like this and find a love one’s memories tucked away on a tag or booklet written down in no particular order. I would find it a treasure book to explore. I’m so thankful that you don’t stop sharing these wonderful ideas with us because of a few negative comments.
