In this video, I'm breaking down two more collection packs. I got a lot of feedback on Part 1 in this series and there was interest in showing more collection pack tear downs. Today, I'll be breaking down Summer Market from Carta Bella and Day in the Life by Echo Park.
The way I do this may not work for anyone but me. But I hope that walking through the steps and having the discussion is helpful. It's always easier to implement changes when we've seen someone else have success doing something similar.

Love these videos. I'm using the Day in the Life collection for my Year in Review album. Will definitely use the month cards, and some of the cut aparts, but some will be just papers I add to my main stash.

So glad you did another one! Both of these collections are great. I’ve been thinking about my collections more. I do scrapbook from my collections, still not willing to take them apart. But I can see myself doing something like this after I’ve used a collection and I’m not using it as much. Would love to see another one. This is a fun series!

Aw, thanks! I had about 15 collection packs and probably 20 paper pads from Michaels/Joann. Took me a couple months to get through it all. I just bought 10 more Echo Park collection packs at a scrapbook convention last month, so I'll be bringing the series back! Thanks for watching. 🙂

Do you hang on the the cover sheet? If so, where do you store it? Also, what do you do if there is matching ephemera or other pieces to a collection?

No, I don't hang on to the cover sheets. I thought maybe I should but once I started taking these collections apart, there was no need so I just recycle them. I keep all of my ephemera in plastic bags in Iris bins. Not a very sophisticated storage option but it works for me. I keep the collection together until there's only a few pieces left, then I have a couple of bags that are a mish mash. I don't label the bags but I'm actually pretty good at picking out the ephemera that goes with a certain paper. I also try to mix it up and find other sets with similar colors. I tend to use up more of my stash that way. I can always make my own embellishments if I use up ephemera before I get to all of the papers.

@@tammytinedesign so if I understood you correctly, you keep the ephemera together in the Iris bins, not ever with the paper, right? Maybe you keep like things together? All paper together, all ephemera together? Not all of a kit together?

Yes, Michele, I do tend to keep like things together. Back in the day I would create these big mega kits with paper and ribbon and letters and embellishments, all coordinated, all ready to go. And I never used them. I'm starting to see a pattern...😆 Now I just make page kits for one layout at a time. Are you a kit girl? I do sometimes envy that because I spend more time gathering stuff sometimes, but things are working well so no more changes for the moment.

Thank you both for the great insights and dialog. It is so helpful to see someone else's strategies and then consider if I should mix things up in my own space to bring the excitement back to some of these papers I've been holding on to, or just pass the paper along. 😊🎉❤

Thank you for asking! I was unhappy with my previous newsletter provider and cancelled the service. I will bring it back once I find a new provider that has all the features I need. 🙂
