Welcome back to the Scrap Mechanic Challenge Mode! Today we are building a new challenge pack! I don't really know what to call it, but the goal is to tilt a track to make a ball roll from the start to the finish without falling off. It's fun!

U can put the ball spawner next to the rails so no weight is added

The spawner isn't the problem, it's the socket. If the socket isn't connected it could work but skips would be easier to do and the second level would need to be redesigned

You can use controllers instead of electric engines, and if they are to slow just double them up. And you don't need counter weights. Also use the vanilla wasd converters.

controllers only rotate at defined intervals, this won't allow the precision needed for these challenges

@@scrapman There is a way to make controllers very precise, Place 2 bearings and connect them to different controllers in opposite rotation, set them to 1 degree ,enable loop and connect to buttons. Save your creation, open the blueprint file in your scrapdata with notepad (sort with last modified to find your blueprint). Look for "timeperframe" and set somewhere between 0.1 and 0.01 and save your blueprint. It's a shame the controller doesn't allow for more precision without blueprint editing, but it's not that much work.. And if you press e on the controllers after editing they will return to their standard speed which is tediously slow..

Scraps, you’ve come up with a rad idea!! You could add pistons or powered bearings that change the orientation or/and position of small sections of the rails. This would create a puzzle-like aspect, as the player would need to balance the ball, AND correctly orient the path. Added plus, you can fit more path length into the available space, because doubling back, or crossing paths would not be an issue. Just add a turntable like railways. Can’t wait to see what you’ll come up with! Keep it up.

I have soooo many ideas... :D I have never played Scrap Mechanic, so I'm only going out what I know but here are my ideas for more complex levels based on the episode: 1. Take the level into 2D with a free bearing on the block with the free bearing (or however it's done). 2. Take the level from 2D to 3D using pistons. 3. Have multiple rails to transition between (one I want to see is where you have to sandwich the ball with two rails to transition). 4. With the pistons, try to perform jumps. (Trickshots into the hole would be cool). 5. See if a ball can balance on a single rail. :P 6. Make extra pathways lol. I don't know a seat is able to do complicated things like that but good luck anyways!

like in the second one you made with the plus sign, put all of the rails and stuff on the front of a big plate made of metal then you can put the counter weight and the thrusters on the back, out of the players view. And depending on how big you make the metal plate, it can act as a flywheel and carry momentum to make the challenge harder at later levels :)

An idea to have something like a maze on 4 piston legs, attached to the maze on bearings, that are on 4 buttons which will tilt the maze

Oooooh! Maybe in the later levels adding two axis of rotation would be cool. So the player has more to think about than just left and right.

You could also have 2 on the track at the same time to add more if a challenge, trying to get 1 in it's spot without moving the other one.

You could put in a second axis to rotate on. I know it would be hard to do while having a good weight distribution, but I think it'd be fun. In regard to actually seeing whats going on I would then recommend moving the whole ball course down!

idea for one of the challenges later, instead of tilting perpendicular to gravity, have a bearing parallel to the ground so you have to use centripetal force to move the ball

Oh boy there's so much that could be done.... While I was watching I thought of how railway and raceway tracks tilt sideways through curves you could maybe have a balancing section. Also thought of a mini maze when you mentioned multiple balls, something like those mini maze toys where you avoid holes and try to get to the end.... But sideways and 4 of them on separate tracks. Would need to have a section of bars or glass on the side *(after reading the comments I've noticed what I'm thinking has similarly been done in' legend of Zelda, BoTW,.... Mixing that and this is what I was thinking) Also thought of a manually controlled slide or roller coaster like thing where you have to pick the best path, while balancing and keeping speed (like the demonstration at the start) to navigate moving puzzles

u can put this entire thing on a flat plane basically by having the tilt bearing then on top of that have a bearing that is facing up and that allows the player to rotate the game, this makes it so that you would have more than just 2 controls of tilt left and right, it also allows u to add actual right angle turns and not turns that are basically falling and catching yourself

You could add a wall with a single block hole in the middle that a pipe can go through with the ball spawner, socket and rails and minimal blocks on the front side, and counter weights and thrust on the other to make it look better

You can try to just make a drop from the middle of a straight line. You'd have to make it go to one side and turn the other side very quickly. This could be like the second or third challenge, being kind of an introduction to the physics of it.

Day 1 of suggesting scrap do the Mad Max race. On either team, 1 player drives while 1 shoots the opposing team. You can decide how you want to split or combine the building, but I recommend the teams’ mates build together to figure out how the turret should attach and the overall design of the vehicle.

Make one where there are two rotating platforms with two balls. Rotate them with the same buttons but when one goes clockwise make the other go counter clockwise and visa versa

When it gets to a harder lvl you should do a maze type thingy and tilt the maze to navigate thru it. Other idea two sides the ball is up the end is down turn the course then you have to catch it mid air.

Reminds me of a toy I had as a child. Google "Wood Labyrinth". Very cool idea. Also you could make a "cage" over the top of the goal to prevent being able to "catch" the ball like you did. It would force the ball to have to take the intended path in. Obviously that challenge you worked out, but for future ideas.

Why put spawner and catcher on the tilt mechanism? You could put spawner on a 90 degree angle so the ball falls into the rails, even a static rail with an angle at first, like a Rube Goldberg section before the part you control with the buttons. :) Great idea btw ScrapMan!

when its getting complex just build another rotation bearing construction :v so then you will rotate multiple things at once, also you could use additional buttons to move alongside rail OR time it so character is moving to the right when you spin it, same for left :D

After seeing this video there should be a block only available for challenge mode So basically its just a 1x1 or 2x1 like a controller and when you access it you can set the weight of it by ( the set amount of metal blocks you want ) then boom your map is clean Cuz if ur like me i like it clean and hidden

Do a multiplayer Monday challenge that is you have to make 1 vehicle that is a car, boat, and plane and you need to do a race which has a part of planes cars and boats

Add a jump with enough speed you could do them or two different spinning things one you have to go one way and the other you have to go the other way and have to jump between them. But I do like this Idea. Another thing you could do is build a Labyrinth Game using pistons
