Welcome to another episode of Scrap Mechanic! Today I am over-engineering another weapon that is completely impractical! This time it's a high-g centrifuge! It has 4 different speeds and I actually roughly calculated the G forces of each speed level!

That would equate to the max g-force being 0.0000284×243×(108)^(2) Which equals about 80.4955968G. We'll say 80.5G for simplifying it.

Protoplasm you can accurately measure a scrap mechanic block not by assuming a length but by assuming the g which u use any ways so 1 g is 9.81 m/(s^2) even if it’s not that in game you would have the scrap g and your result would be in scrap gs. I did this a while ago but can’t remember the exact value I came up with.

If this brave man hadnt subjected himself to that experiment, seat belts as we know them wouldnt exist. The most g-forces ever lived by a human was set during an indy car crash, where Kenny Brack crashed against a gate and spun around. He experienced a mind numbing 214 Gs, 8 times more than a lethal dose; he lived but was really really banged up. thought you might find some of that interesting.

It makes sense that humans can sustain more gs when it comes to sudden impacts. Because the danger with prolonged gs is your blood going “imma head out” to a certain part of your body.

I've read that people measured how big the blocks are using beacons, which came out to 4 blocks = 1 meter. So, 7.5 meters for a 30 block radius might be more accurate.

Some time ago I’ve spoken to Brent Batch (mod maker) about physics calculations in SM. I needed that to calculate spud trajectories. Actually, 1 meter is 4 blocks according to code.

I know that regular blocks do damage to bots and if they hit hard enough they can actually destroy the bots. So maybe something that shoots blocks, kinda like a blunderbuss. I tried making something like it myself a while back, but didn't get very far. Turns out reloading the weapon is wildly impractical. There's also great potential for the dome pieces you can find on top of warehouses, I think they're called "Generator Coil Corner" which is weird because they're round, they don't have any corners. Anyway, if you weld eight of those together it makes a bloody great big ball that's extremely heavy, some might even say impractically heavy.

Fun Fact: the highest G-force survived by a human is Indycar driver Kenny Bräck. He survived a crash that subjected him to about 200g, according to black box data onboard the car

Pistons only serve for positioning the "splat wall". You want concrete for a harder splat. Concretes greater density/mass means greater inertia (per block), means it is more resistant to changes in motion, which typically makes for less elasticity in collisions (ie stuff stops moving more).

fun fact: the world record for the highest amount of G's is either 25 or 26 G's for a few seconds and this was accomplished for a test(I forgot what the test was for), and the person who got this record actually volunteered for it and rode on a sled on rails with rockets strapped on

So every 2 blocks is roughly 3 ft, so oneish yard/meter (yes, the coffee mugs are huge), this is based on the fact that the player characters are confirmed to be as wide as a human but shorter, and they fit just barely into a 2 wide slot, human shoulders are about 1 meter wide with small variance for height. So since your machine had a 30 block radius it would be roughly 45 ft long (15 yard/meter) which is much longer than your initial guess

It's interesting to note that the reason human won't last at high G is different for sustained and sudden impact. For sustained, it's because the brain doesn't get enough blood from the heart because it's becoming harder and harder for the blood to pump to the head at high G and you eventually oxygen deprived and lose consciousness. For sudden impact, such problem will not have enough time to take effect but it's just the collision force that your internal organ experienced colliding with the cage of the body and could not handle the force and burst causing internal bleeding.

I did the math considering that the scrap mechanic player is the height of the average male a block would be about 1 foot 1.2 inches (sorry metric people). So after all the calculations, level one is 7G"s, level two is 16G's, level three is 29G's, and level four is a whopping 66G's. That would instantly kill anyone that steps inside. Edit: there was a comment by the cactus that said they were 8.1 inches tall. So with these calculations level one is 4G's, level two is 10 G's, Level three is 18G's, and level four is 40 G's. So Scrapman got it right!!!!

I'd divide your values by 4, since the first level got the box at around 45° it should mean that the downwards force and the backwards force should be the same. Basically it means the natural g-force at scrap mechamic is 4g, good luck to the one whos gonna tell us what's the radius of the planet

@@karl_look Yes, it can be counted via gamengine default texture (1m^2 square), as well as mannequin boots sugest that dwarf is 3 foot high so if you do math it's aproximetly 25cm, so yeah. Kinda strange how did human mannequin ended up in dwarf's world tho

Apparently according to the code the block is 25cm tall. which means that 1 meter is 4 blocks. Source is a redditor who has that information from Durf. Still it's the best answer I could get. You may try asking Durf.

Based on my calculations, which says that 4 blocks is a metre because the average size of a dwarf is 122cm and in Stormworks 4 blocks is a metre (I know that stormworks has nothing to do with it, but it is another game that uses blocks). This means that the arm is 8m long so going with the 36 rpm thing the calculator says it's 11.5 G's. And with your calculations, it says it should be 6 G's, so someone made a mistake because even though I tried to use the same measurements I got a lot different of a result. EDIT: aaaaaaaand I didnt watch far enough but with my calculations at 108rpm and 8 metre rod it would be 104 G's!!!!!

Just wanted to point out that if you start counting from 1 then you have to minus 1 from the duration. For example: if you count from 1 to 5 that's a duration of 4.

@@diegootero1686 Not if it's put in a properly functional Gyroscopic stabilizer so that the sensor array is always horizontal. It would be range limited, and one hell of a construction to automate, but it could probably squash some Greenies.

I was curious, so i did some math. 3m and 108 rpm equals to ~33.93 m/s (about 76 mph), and sudden stop (deceleration to 0 in 2.36 ms) from that speed would equal to 1,467.4 G. So if a heybot would weigh say 40 Kg, it would experience the impact of a mass of over 58 metric tons. :D Edit. Calculations based on ScrapMans estimates.

I think the best part is not the tapebot being flung away. It is Scrapman ability to headshot the tapebot from such distance. It is going to be scary to sniper war him in PUBG or COD.

To calculate the g's a bot endure when stopped suddenly you just have to calculate the linear speed of the bot (2.pi.radius.rpm/60) and then divide this by the time it takes to go from this speed to a complete stop (I think we could assume it's worth 0.2sec) and then divide by the value of g (9.81m/s^2) to change the units.

Next idea! Something that will launch the bots into the air, then a baseball bat type thing that sends them flying. Like the equivalent to throwing up a baseball, then batting it yourself!

Or make it a competition with the guys. Build the vertical launch system that everyone will use, then everyone builds their own bat to launch the bots. Have a little ruler on the ground to see who launches them the furthest.

You should do an episode testing the impact force tolerance of the farmbot. You could do this by dropping them from gradually higher altitudes, or hitting them gradually faster objects. It'd be nice to know how many Gs it takes to kill one.

You should build it in survival to find out how much G can handle the mechanic itself while in ragdoll, and in multiplayer should be funnier

a block is exactly 1 foot, I tested it using gravity (timing how long things take to fall). the gravity works the same on all things, so you can use the distance the thing fell (in blocks) and how long it takes to calculate the distance. (in feet).
