What a bummer, wasn't expecting that. At least you got all that nice brass. I think It's a lot harder to make high purity aluminium, especially in a thin gauge, as it might be prone to electrical faults. It's easier to make heavy gauge aluminium wire where It's not as critical, so they probably still need to use copper for lifespan of thin gauge wire, because copper is easier to work and purify. If I had to guess I'd say they use the copper wiring where the machine gets hot.
