I always enjoy Scrappy Saturday Gayle!!! I love that you’re doing slow stitch belly bands!!! A very fun, smaller project for those of us starting out with the slow stitching. I was focusing on pockets for slow stitching, but may have to add belly bands to my list lol. I’m looking forward to seeing what you do with them!!! TFS!!! Hugs, Sharon 🌷💜

Oh my gosh! What a fabulous idea! Belly bands make the perfect small slow stitch project for doing during TV time. Now I just need to get some prepared to stitch up. Jolene and I both hand/slow stitch wall hangings, which take forever, I can’t wait to try these instead! Thanks for the inspiration sissy! Big hugs! 🤗💖🤗

These work for me!!!! Old timer 4-Her with my sewing tins so I can do slow stitch/back stitch/running stitch while I recuperate my community pneumonia. The hospital loaded me up with a year's supply of face masks in a rainbow of colors. My brain let loose with watercolors and markers first. Then stitched up the middle so I could curvy cut all the way up or zigzag. Stitch or glue. Makes great ruffle tags, belly bands, and jazzy cluster bits. I'll take my tin with me the next time I'm out of quarantine to visiting room at ER and share with quilting club: Introducing Betty Butler's MAGIC MASK Ruffles

Gayle, if you wish to make holes in card to sew it into fabric, use your sewing machine with no thread, on the longest stitch length.

I was once reminded: do not let perfection get in the way of greatness. I, too, struggle sometimes with things being "perfect." It makes me stop enjoying what I'm creating. And recently you created a piece of ephemera that read: embrace your imperfection. You are an inspiration! And your perfect imperfection is what brings me back day after day. You go, girl!

These are so fun to watch how you put fabrics together. Can't wait to see them finished! I will have to see if I can find that Creative Stitches book. I have done lots of embroidery and crewel work but I see some stitches in there I would like to try. I need to put some of these slow stitching projects together and have a bag to grab to work on while I wait at sports practices etc. Thanks for another wonderful week of new ideas Gayle! Hi Gayle! Your belly bands are beautiful! What a great idea for journals. if you go to Roxy"s Journal ofStitchery Volume 1 she and Sarah show you how to fill in the flowers with stitches. Episode 17 by Sarah shows her filling in flowers. Slow stitching is so much fun. I'm just getting in to junk journaling and love to watch your videos.

Lovely! I have to get myself some patterned/floral fabrics. Have to admit I am a tad jealous at the amount of choices you have at your disposal. Makes me wanna go to the secondhand store to look for supplies so badly.... But that is not going to happen anytime soon, boohoo. Oh well, no use crying over spilled milk. 🤔 No use crying over milk that might be spilled if you had milk to spill in the first place. Or something like that 😁 Have a lovely Sunday and hope Mike’s shot went down well too. That sounds a bit weird but you know what I mean 😉❤️

They all turned out beautiful! When you were thinking you wanted to add a word or phrase to one, I was busy telling you I just saw a lady on Etsy today selling words and phrases printed on cloth. :) Hole punching TH paper ephemera was a great idea - the only thing I thought of was some of his metal word or quote bands because they have holes on the ends to stitch through but it would add a lot more bulk than the paper ephemera and not near as much variety - love your paper idea! Take care and God bless...Sheila

I know I’m behind on watching videos, only by a day because I went birding yesterday. But, between watching Amy at Crafty Cat working on Cindy’s sewing journal and then watching you do this, this is going to be my next spine cover. Amy did this on her spine by putting a bunch a little scraps but she sewed it on the machine. I think I’m going to give this a shot. My next journal is going to be a 2 1/2 inch spine floral themed journal with five signatures, I’ve never made one that large before but looks like I’m going to do a scrappy slow stitched spine cover or I may just do it on the machine like Amy did, depends on how lazy I am at the time when I get that far. I haven’t even started it yet, well I gutted the book and put Tyvek in the spine and I’ve printed a bunch of papers but that’s as far as I’ve gotten. 😂

Oooh I loved this. One of my most favorite things to do is match fabrics together and since I don't have the room to quilt this was perfect. I'd also love to see you use lots of texture with yarn/thread again. You did a belly band/side tuck with tons of yarn (I think in the Winter Journal?) and it just has stuck with me - I loved it so much. Also, YT did you dirty today with the ads. In the first half of your video I got ads every 3 - 4 minutes! I sure hope you get the ad revenue because otherwise they're pulling a fast one.

Well I was wanting to stitch and so instead of throwing toys away, I started patching them with fabric scraps and making new toys out of the PCs that came off. We are getting quite the collection. If you want to keep your buttons with your fabric collages so you don't forget about them, one easy way would be to use a bulb pin and slip the buttons on the it through one of the holes, then pin the bulb pin onto the fabric collage. Just sayin.

Gayle...look up the “back stitch” I think that’s what it’s called and it is very easy. I use it to outline things...I’m a newbie too so I’m glad you did this video. The only things I’ve been stitching is lap blankets...they are 10” squares of various fabric pieces that I machine sew into a lap quilt and then I slow stitch on all 24 squares while I’m watching tv. Then I put a plain back on it to cover all my knots and machine quilt across all my seams. I bind it around the edges and have given them to my three adult kids, daughter in law and granddaughter. I can’t believe I’ve done so many but it’s very therapeutic for me. This idea of yours will help me do something a little bit different...I love it!
