This video is not to be used strictly as a guide on how to rebuild an engine, I am not a professional and you may follow this video at your own risk. Please use your best judgment when it comes to assembly. I am not responsible for any mistakes you may have followed throughout this video.
Follow the guidance for the particular sealant you purchase and use, the sealant I purchased and used had different cure and re-assembly times than what the rebuild manual called for, which was a mistake on my part. The manual says to assemble within 5 minutes of applying which is if you use the sealant supplied through subaru. The sealant I used had different cure and re-assembly times which I did incorrectly.

This is the sealant that I used for the entire engine assembly. I contacted permatex directly to ask which sealant to use and they suggested this one. I am unsure if this really is the proper sealant so use at your own risk. PX OPTIMUM BLACK CT

Did you use rtv between the heads on both sides or just that one side? Any leaks, engine build looks great BTW!

I actually can't remember if I did, I did whatever the manual said I believe both head gaskets got sealant on them, but I don't remember if both sides of the gaskets did though, I believe the primary purpose to the sealant on the head gasket is to seal where the timing chain goes and also where the bed plate does if i'm not mistaken. Asside from that, leaks wise, I have a leak from the Cam Plate Cover which is very normal, I need to address it again but haven't gotten around to it. it's not an immediate concern though

had my engine rebuilt and for a while ive had a p219a code. I have replaced the cam sensor, o2s and someother stuff but cant get the problem fixed. What do you think could be the issue?

Sounds like it could be an injector related issue, does it missfire or stall at all, or stutter at all?

I adjusted the valves as best as I could with the parts I had, I had new rockers and lifters and also new valve shims, but the new valve shims were too thin for the clearances. So what I did was mixed and matched between all my rockers, lifters, and shims so that I could get the clearances I needed. Some of them didn’t quite make it to the adjustments I wanted but I just ended up putting it together anyways, which I sort of wish I didn’t do because my valve tick is a little louder than I would like. Unsure if it will cause premature failure in the future, but it may be something I’ll adjust in the future when I am home again.

I’m having a p0302 code on my fa20.. I did had my heads done recently put everything together with all data .. runs rough at idle but is find under load .. misfire is only on idle .. swapped spark plugs .. coils .. even changed to intake gasket again but still .. any idea.. you think a valve is too tight or?

That is a pretty odd occurrence, but there could be other stuff that is more likely and related. My valve clearances were on the loose side which means they wouldn’t open fully and my car runs fine at idle, (when it actually starts running lol) my car doesn’t start up on the first try but I think mine is tuning related, could be valve related as well. I haven’t gotten to explore the options too much because I have been away from home for the last 5 months immediately once I finished putting my engine together. Your issues could be something very simple though, it could be the injector driver grounding if it’s not making a good ground those issues could happen. It could also be that maybe a seal in your direct injectors or even your port injectors is bad. Does your engine bay smell like gas sometimes?

@@ScratchMB me and my mechanic swapped the secondary injectors and it still is misfire .. it is smelling lean/rich.. right now we’re gonna swap the main injectors and see if that does anything 🙏🏼 Really hope it works out

@@ScratchMB i appreciate the response .. yeah my mechanic didn’t do any valve adjustments so I’m thinking cylinder 2 is on the tighter end of spec .. he didn’t think there was spacers on the lifters so he just threw them together.. He wants to run through all the simple things before having to pull the motor .. I have a feeling deep down it’s the adjustment to right.. he doesn’t think that would cause it on one cylinder though and for the fact that it doesn’t misfire when we drove it

@@S2kdailyIf he didn’t put the spacers on the tops of the valve stems it would make it significantly looser, unless he checked the valve clearance and it specced out it should technically be fine though, you would still probably want the spacers though.
