So this was actually the first major role where Emma Roberts plays the villain/bitchy character. Kind of a huge deal since it sort of paved her way to a lot of other projects that she's more known for. Considering she mostly only had "innocent" roles and she's Julia Roberts' niece, nobody really saw this one coming. At least not the people who already knew her from other roles

I agree it’s been a long time since I watched 4 so did a rewatch last week I went from finding it ok when I first saw it to absolutely loving it on a rewatch apart from those cops Hoss and Perkins being cringe I find the 4th movie so underrated.

I think it flopped because the ending leaked months before it came out. I knew who were the killers before watching it and maybe that's why I didn't like it at first, but now it's not so bad.

You’re so right about how this movie predicted a lot of the current internet fame culture/live streaming celebrity thing. I liked it when I saw it in the theater but think it’s actually improved over time and with hindsight.

I think THIS was actually the role that got Emma Robert's typecast as the bitch/villain lol. Before that, I think she played the lead on a Nickelodeon show called Unfabulous, which was a much different role, so the bitch switch at end was definitely a real plot twist lol...

They seriously were ahead of their time and they just didn't know it. Having the annoying influencer and someone trying to hurt others for clout and attention. If this movie came out now it would fit with today. And it hits close to home to since degree.

I think this was actually the movie that started Emma Roberts being cast in these kind of roles. Before this, she was mostly cast as the sweet young girl.

Jill imo is the most craziest killer in the series she literally killed everyone close to her just so she can get famous so she doesn’t have to work 💀and Olivia’s death is one of my favorites cause damn she got fucked up rather get my throat slashed than what happened to her . At the time people didn’t like this movie which is crazy to me cause this movie was ahead of it’s time. Good job guessing the killers u actually got it right lol pretty fast too

I think this movie led Emma Roberts to get typecasted as evil because she did such a great job. Jill is my favorite Scream killer - she went from the most innocent character to most evil.

Except she's so bad in this movie. I don't mean to be cruel. And it's funny, because when she was acting all goody-goody, I didn't buy it. But then after the reveal, I didn't buy the crazy. And you could say maybe she's just a bad actress, but I've seen her in other things... and she does great. Especially in typecast evil roles.

31:47 I think that’s precisely why people had mixed reaction to the movie when it came out. It was ahead of it’s time and it placated only the diehard Scream fans that already connected to the characters before. I think it’s a movie best enjoyed back to back with the other movies given how much time is passed between 2 and 3 and 4.

a few facts i remember about this one 1. kirby was initially intended to survive but it was cut from the edit so theres a possibilty that shes still alive. Scream 5 maybe? 2. they used a cgi knife for this movie 3. not super but i remember reading somewhere that the hospital scene wasnt supposed to happen and sidney was supposed to die or smth because wes craven wanted this movie to start a new trilogy type thing

u can literally see the retractable knife in majority scenes... even in the killer reveal where all of the them are holding the blades and just barely when gale and the theatrical and alternate opening scene but yes they did use a cg blade but not for everything

Sidney was supposed to end up in a coma and/or lose her memory. Supposedly in Scream 5, Jill would be targeted in college by a copy-cat ala Scream 2 then in Scream 6, she'd do another killing spree to revitalize her fame and have a final showdown with Sidney who's regained her memories.

In the original ending Jill was suppose to get away with it. It was suppose to end with Jill being put on the ambulance with the media trying to get her picture or a statement and the last moment was suppose to be a cop calling out we found a live one which was to be Sidney. Now they planned on doing SCREAM 5 and 6 at the time and 5 would have been Sidney has memory loss and can’t remember the events of the ending. Jill is off at college. Now the killer would start targeting Jill because they knew her secret and were trying to get her to confess.

You should give a try to Final Destination franchise (1, 2 and 5). I think you might appreciate one of these movies as one of the main characters basically does what you suggested - lock themselves in a padded room.

I did not realize untill now but wes craven was a genious in this film reveal. This film didnt just remake the first movie with billy and stu. But it remade the second with billys mother a female with a male accomplice who she kills, and also remakes the third scream when roman tried to stage it as if he was a sole survivor untill cindy who he thought was dead kills him.

This movie is even more brilliant on rewatch. Knowing who the killers are from the start puts scenes into a whole new perspective and the stuff you notice them say and do (in and out of Ghostface costumes) elevates this to a higher level!

To answer your question Pugg the phone Trudie was using in the fake out Stab 6 opening was a T-MOBILE SIDEKICK (US Name at least) I believe it was called the DANGER HIPTOP in Australia. Other names the device went by are the MOBIFLIP and SHARP JUMP. It was an early smartphone. It was produced by Danger Inc from 2002 to 2010 when Microsoft bought the company and tried to make the KIN phone which was a failure. The sidekick was actually a pretty cool phone especially with the way it’s screen flipped around to reveal the popular at the time psychical keyboard. I’m a bit of a phone nerd as well as a movie nerd.

Just saw scream 5 and I personally think that 4 and 5 are on the same level, both really great. I can’t wait to watch this and can’t wait for you to see scream 5!

OMG. I just realized a way to see that Jill was the killer. When her and Kirby are watching Shaun of the Dead, there are only 3 people that would have known that: Jill, Kirby, and Olivia. Seeing as Olivia dies in that scene, then all signs point to either Jill or Kirby, bc one of them would have to know what’s going on in their room to tell Charlie what to say. And since it was obvious that Kirby was not the killer, you can riddle it out right then and there that Jill is the killer
