@@daa4309 One of my very good female friends had told me about it. She was all about nature. I put a bunch of his woolly undercoat in a shoebox and put it under one of my old pine trees. It attracted more birds than a chunk of seed-encrusted suet, lol. I agree about keeping the nest warm, it does the same for the dogs, right? ;-)

my grandparents had a husky chow lab and golden retriever mix and me and my grands would take the dog outside and all three of us would just pluck the shed fur out it was like picking berries but it was fur and off our dog and as we would pick the fur we would just drop it and let the wind take it

They are the best. Once I was playing with mine he accidentally hit my nose with his head, it cracked and I bled. once he saw this he placed the ball we were playing with into my lap and laid by me while someone got me tissue.

Is the Equigroomer made out of wood? Is it easier to hold that way? I suppose that all the brushing and wiggling of the high velocity dryer hose could be hard on a person's hands and arms.

I have a 75% husky/3 other breeds. They need a LOT of walking/exercise. They _hate_ brushing or having their feet touched. Mine's a silent aberation, but expect howls/yelling. Basically, if you can't devote at least an hour a day to the dog, they will entertain themselves/destroy your place.

In short, Huskies are a working breed, if you cannot give them enough excersise they *will* be lunatics and they *will* destroy your house.

It's been about a year now since we had to put our husky down, and he was such a good dog (in the most stubborn of ways). For a husky, he was actually pretty mellow. And even he was a nut, when the mood struck him. When he got the zoomies, he would slam the back of the couch into the wall (he was big for a husky). He got a baby bunny one time when I was walking him: I couldn't get him to drop it so had to take him back home with the bunny still in his mouth. He was so proud of himself, and my dad had to wrestle it from him. They're such active, stubborn breeds too. Escape artists as well. We tried crating him, but that didn't last long. He would howl all night long, and one time when we went out, we came back and the crate was busted and Malaki was not in his crate. They're good dogs to have, but they have high prey drives, are extremely active, extremely stubborn, and very vocal dogs. Not just with grooming, but with anything they do or do not want to do.

Oh and the FUR. If you don't want dog hair everywhere, do not get a husky

They're great dogs, but you honestly have to have an extremely GOOD reason why you are going to provide the Husky the attention and extreme activity it needs.

They can be really sweet too. Mine absolutely adores my disabled little sister. He will stay by her side the entire time she's visiting, and doesn't mind her playing with his ears (he actually lays down beside her, and puts his head in her lap).

@@billr3053 I haven't raised huskies, only my great pyrenees. I know a lot of dogs just generally don't like nail clipping (even with training sometimes!) Chances are, this is the case or she hasn't been trained.

If this Husky sounds bad to you, you should hear my pug while I am trying to clip his nails. Personification of screaming bloody hell 😅😂🤣😂🤣

Yeah most dogs don't like having their paws handled but I worked on that - no particular reason. Just having fun. I played patty cake patty cake or the doggie equivalent with my dogs. I put my hands over their paws and they would pull them back and put them on top of mine. Repeat. Then I'd teach them to corral several tennis balls with their front legs. The lab especially got quite skillful and was bobbing and wagging at his accomplishment. They get over their over-sensitivity to being touched and learned to use their front legs and paws to good success, accuracy and subtleness in their own play.
