I think in the later seasons, and especially in the college years he did stand up for himself more.

But when Lisa had a fashion show, and Zack told Screech to MC her show to impress her and get a date with her, only for Zack to make a move on Lisa himself, Screech stood up to Zack on that. Later, in college, Zack and Screech both had a romantic interest in a woman named Linda. Zack tried to tell Screech that Linda was “out of his league “. Screech stood up to Zack and said that showed how little respect Zack had for Screech, and that maybe he should let Linda decide for herself which of them she liked better.

actually i remember pretty vividly screech flipping out and smacking zack around when he found out he kissed lisa! sooo

​@@frsothmanYeah Screech called him a backstabber in front of an audience and then later on in the episode he embarrassed him in front of the whole school by unbuttoning some of Zack's shirt buttons which exposed his nipple lol

yeah the only reason they hung out with him was because he accepted their shitty treatment.

Definitely true. Also, even back in the Miss Bliss days, there was one episode where she tried to protect him from a school bully. So that shows that on some level she always considered him a friend. But I think she thought that friendship was as far as she wanted it to go - she wasn’t interested in dating him, and was annoyed when he wouldn’t take no for an answer. But toward the end, in the prom episode, and also in the valedictorian episode, she did acknowledge that even though he was “strange” he was genuinely a good person.

I liked Violet Bickerstaff. She seemed like a perfect match for Screech. I was sorry she did not become a permanent member of the cast.

Yes, they all insulted Screech over their frustration over what often seemed to be his lack of common sense. And yet, in a pinch, he was the only one they could count on to do a needed favor without asking for anything in return.

I think the only good thing was that even though they all put Screech down, if anyone outside of their group of friends insulted him or tried to hurt him in anyway, they would come to his defense. Yeah Kelly was always the goody-goody. They make fun of her for it sometimes.

Kelly only insulted Screech when he made stupid mistakes that had negative consequences for her, such as blabbing out a secret, or losing his place in line when he was supposed to buy the movie tickets for the group. Other than that, she didn’t pick on him just for being goofy the way the others did, because she accepted that as the way he was, and would often defend him when others would pick on him.
