Thanks so much for your video. So very helpful. I have had hard time cleaning my screens...especially now trying plastisol ink. I still don't know what is best to get that crud off my screen and squeegee. I use the press wash and it does not seem to help much, if at all. I use decreased (automotive), Dawn liquid and now I guess I will try the Xylene. I could not find any at Home Depot, so I bought some Klean Strip Painters Solvent instead. That mixed with Emulsion remover and some Gunk Degreaser and a power wash at my car wash made it absolutely clean!! Thank you so much for the tips!!

@gentlegnt

@@LibertyGraphicDesigns Really?? Okay. I will take your advice. One last question, please...when using Plastisol, I understand there is no flooding needed. Do you suggest squeeging forward only once or backwards only once? (Toward me or away from me on the screen)? I have shirt tacked down and try not to love my screen, but sometimes get that double image without lifting the screen. Single color white only.
@LibertyGraphicDesigns
@LibertyGraphicDesigns 3 жыл бұрын
@@gentlegnt that's a great question! that's called pulling and pushing, but let me answer the flooding first.... you are correct, plastisol does not require flooding only water base, and the reason for that is, well, plastisol won't dry on your screen as water base does. ok, so now, when it comes to pulling and pushing I my self like to "pull" you get better results but you will get tired faster LOL. Pull requires a lot less force to push the ink through the screen, however, your are more likely to mess up or shift the screen when pushing that's why you get that double image you're talking about, now, if you pull and then push on the same shirt/image/print, you will also create or get a double line or sort of a mirror effect, this happened because you shifted/distorted the screen even if your shirt is well tacked to the pallet. if you have more question feel free to ask!!. FYI I'm working on a video series that explains most of this issues. Thank you for your question it was very interesting.

Keep in mind that screen cleaning supplies are created in the best interest of the screen material, using other things can damage the mesh, make it brittle , or make it harder for emulsion to adhere properly. Supplies are not too expensive. Also i've never seen ghost imagines cause problems with jobs, unless it's a very fine screen. With a normal 110 mesh it's almost impossible to see the ghost imagine in print. Be careful to not get any cleaning supplies on the frame/glued area, and haze remover should only be left on for 3-5 minutes or less.

Here's how i've always did it in my 30 + years of screen printing.....I use 100% mineral spirits (paint thinner) to clean the ink (plastisol) with Bounty paper towels. Nothing works as good as Bounty. Using xylene is unnecessary, harmful to mesh and unhealthy. And i clean screens as soon as i'm done with the job. Letting it stay in the screens is mostly what creates ghost images. Plus plastisol is oil based, so all plastisol should be removed before going to washout. I use any cheap reclaimer, they all pretty much work the same. And then i use the strongest haze remover i can find. Right now, that's Rino Clean imo. A good haze remover should make your eyes burn lol. I've been getting my cleaning supplies from Davis International for about 10 years now. Good quality at an affordable price. Haze removers require a hazardous tag and costs extra for shipping with everyone.

hey juan, hope you see this. yesterday i had begun reclaiming some screens and i took the ink and emulsion off and rinsed the screens, but i let them dry overnight because i was waiting for The Pink Stuff to be delivered so i could dehaze. today it showed up, and i tried wetting the screens and using The Pink Stuff to dehaze them but it did nothing. was it because i let the screens dry? i'd love any input you can offer me because i'm stuck. thanks again for the videos!
@LibertyGraphicDesigns
@LibertyGraphicDesigns Жыл бұрын
hey Marshal, if you let any emulsion dry on the screens it would be very hard to get it off, however, if you use hand cleaner and the pink stuff together and let sit for five to ten minutes then power wash (not rinse) the screens it will take most of the ghosting or stuff left on the screen. note that there might be some "ghosting" or imprint (sort of looks like a shadow" of the old image that does not affect the quality of the screen that's completely fine.
@Marshimized
@Marshimized Жыл бұрын
@@LibertyGraphicDesigns thanks so much for the reply, i'm thinking maybe the haze i was trying to remove was the ghosting you're talking about here because i was sure not to let the emulsion remover dry last night without power washing it all off, and i applied then power washed The Pink Stuff off twice for each screen i did today. for good measure i think i will order some hand cleaner as well. this was so helpful man, thank you!

your emulsion remover might be old or if you let the emulsion remover dry on the screens it will do that, try wetting the screen first then add the emulsion remover wait about 5 minutes and wash with a power washer at 1600 PSI or higher to remove the emulsion, if you can, get CCI GEM_ZYME emulsion remover this stuff works great.
