Thrawn is finally coming. The bad guys just won. The Eye of Sion is on its way to another galaxy to bring the long-lost grand admiral back from exile.
But what is awaiting them in the new galaxy? Who lives there? What dangers will they face?
And what was Thrawn doing there all this time? Lost for over a decade in a distant and strange galaxy, there has to be some great story there.
And don’t forget, Thrawn isn’t alone, he’s with Ezra Bridger, the Jedi who sent him there. How does he fit into what’s happening in the new galaxy?
So let’s dive into what awaits us when we arrive in the new galaxy, and what Thrawn has been up to all these years.
In the second episode, Morgan Elsbeth revealed that Thrawn was exiled to a planet called Peridea, located in a distant galaxy.
He was sent there over a decade earlier by Ezra. The guy Sabine wants to bring back so much, that she betrays Ashaoka and joins Baylan and Shin. Can’t really blame her, though, Baylan is awesome.
Ezra got help from the Purrgil, and he sent himself and Thrawn to the distant galaxy.
Now according to Morgan Elsbeth, an ancient people from the distant galaxy visited the main Star Wars galaxy long ago. They built these ruins on Seatos, and probably other places like these and left clues to their home galaxy.
The star map orb might have been created by Elsbeth’s people, the nightststers.
Of course, it’s not a map to Thrawn himself. He was gone for only a few years, this map was created a long time ago. It points to the planet Peridea in the distant galaxy.
Doug: So what’s so special about this planet
We will circle back to it, but Thrawn is there, and he’s somehow communicating with Morgan from the distant galaxy.
Doug: distant galaxy, new galaxy, old galaxy. Who’s galaxy is it anyway? You keep talking about galaxies with no names
You’re right, they should really give these galaxies some names. So let’s call the new galaxy…. Peridea. And the main Star Wars galaxy…. Skylaxy.
[Because, you know…. Skylaxy, like Skywalker and galaxy…. Skywalker Galaxy….. it should be canon.

One thing I really appreciate on this channel is that you always provide explanations for who/what things are, even when you’ve done it before. For example, I’ve probably heard you explain the Nightsisters 5 or 6 times at this point, and I know that’s mostly in case one of those videos is someone’s first video, but as someone who is very busy a lot of the time and doesn’t always retain a lot of the wealth of information contained within Star Wars lore,, I’m really grateful that you’ll always give us a reminder of stuff we may have easily forgotten! 👍

My final predictions for episode 5…spoilers if I’m right! … …… ……… …… … 1. The opening scene will either feature Ezra, Thrawn, or both. My money is on the very opening of the episode being the shot of Thrawn from the back walking into Morgan’s bridge that we saw from the trailer. 2. Ahsoka is not physically in the WBW, certainly not the way Ezra was. It’s a force vision she’s having. She and her projection of Anakin will talk, and it seems like we’re going to get Clone Wars flashbacks in live action. 3. The part of Ahsoka ostensibly in the WBW will not last the entire episode, but will rather be quite short. Maybe half the episode, max. She’ll emerge from the WBW force vision in the same time and circumstance she entered it - in other words, not as Ahsoka the White, and no hopping to other times or places beyond flashback visions and such. She’ll most likely wake up in the ocean, or on the beach. Something like that. 4. There will be a story reason keeping the “bad guys” in the other galaxy longer. Something they have to do. Maybe retrieve Ezra? 5. Ahsoka will regroup with Huyang and they’ll join the surviving Phoenix Squadron members, all using the Purgill together (I assume it’ll have to be Ahsoka who talks to the Purgill, it seems beyond Jacen without training, whether he’s strong in the force or not…I don’t think Dave would do that) at the end of the ep to jump to the other galaxy.

I love the new Thrawn Canon. I really hope that the Gryysks are the overall threat. I’ve predicted from the moment Ahsoka showed up in the Mandalorian that Ahsoka will travel to find Thrawn and Ezra, and when Ahsoka goes to end Thrawn, Ezra will step in to stop her and let her in on the news that Thrawn is not the real enemy and that he has been working with a Thrawn to end a bigger threat.

Based on the books I just can't help but think it makes sense for Thrawn to try to convince Ezra to work together with him. He would see him as an asset. A means to an end.

That would be an awesome story if they had the time to tell it. Unless Ahsoka gets a second season to set it up before the big crossover movie, I don't see them going that big. I think Thrawn is going to be the big-bad for this series and the movie. And I'll bet Thrawn's arrival into the known galaxy is the big cliffhanger for the final episode of Ahsoka season 1.

I would love to see a return of Asajj Ventress. She is my close-second favorite Clone Wars era character next to Ahsoka. Even though I know how "Dark Disciple" ends, I figure that if Darth Maul can return anything's possible. And her return would be more plausible.

That would be like Erza wanting to save Kanan from dying. It would cause a massive paradox. Can't change what you already know. Ahsoka survived the Rebels season 2 finale fight against Vader because her fate wasn't seen/known at that time.

I think that's the direction they go. They've set him up as powerful. That will increase over the next two episodes - then you get him vs Anakin set right before or after his fall. They could even use that as the reason the WbW is rendered inaccessible...

The acronym GFFA has always been used as a name to distinguish the Star Wars galaxy, from other galaxies, finding much use when the Yuuzhan Vong where introduced.

What if Ezra was never in the distant galaxy? What if Ahsoka pulled Ezra through a portal in the World Between Worlds the moment the Purrgil jump with Thrawn in Rebels? It may happen. It is exactly what Ezra did for Ahsoka when she was fighting Vader.

I doubt ahsoka will do that, when ezra pulled her out she wasn't very happy with it because she believes it may mess up the space and time (?) Smthing like that if I remember correctly, it wouldn't make sense if she'll pull ezra out knowing that it might mess up their timeline. Afterall ahsoka seems to be a person who prioritizes general safety than a single person.

This isn’t how the WBW has been explained. Ezra could see that moment on Malachor because he was there. Ahsoka was never present at the liberation of lothal at all, much less on the bridge of the chimaera.

Ezra could have teamed up with Thrawn in new galaxy since Ezra's galaxy and his friends/family were safe from his actions.

I think the Purrgil took Ezra and Thrawn to Peridea. It was never implied that Thrawn chose to go anywhere. Surely all the map and altar did was calculate where the Purrgil jumped to 10 years ago? If Peridea was part of a fairytale for Jedi, it makes sense they would take Ezra there. If Elsbeth already knew the location Peridea, whey didn't Baylan and Elsbeth have this conversation before? He seemed to act like Peridea was new information.

Remember, in the Ascendency novels, the Grysk didn’t need the Navigators for themselves - they had their own shadowy force users. They didn’t kidnap the Skywalkers for themselves - they gifted them to “client” species, and really took them to get an “in” on controlling the Chiss. And it was implied, in Thrawn:Treason that they got into the minds of kidnapped Skywalkers.

I really liked this theory until I looked at a map of the Skylaxy (yeah I’m using it). And geographically (assuming the map is functionally 2D) this doesn’t make sense unless the Grysk have just been tiptoeing around but never in the Skylaxy all these millennia. Csilla and the Ascendancy are over in the Unknown Regions on the galactic west side of the map. Whereas Dathomir and Lothal are up in the galactic northeast. I get the night sisters can teleport (particularly much better than previously thought before this theory) but the Grusk can’t. They’re still bound by ships in real space probably with some limited hyperdrive capabilities. So they would likely start popping up on the side of the galaxy they came from not the opposite. And to go from Peredia to Csilla they wouldn’t pass Dathomir.

Skylaxy lol , didn't Shmee Skywalker used to navigate the unknown regions before being sold into slavery?Maybe her family would navigate to Peridia as well in the past. I like the idea of a big battle against some alien race but maybe Mando and them will have to help fight off Thrawn first. Just Saiyan awsome show

That is my guess, also. 'Peridea' is a completely different galaxy, than the Skylaxy. The region that Cal found, again, was already known to the High Republic Jedi - but Peridea was a 'fairytale' - so there's some connection to this other galaxy and the Skylaxy. We can only speculate who, what, why and how and when.

I feel like you are the first to look at the new books and paint thrawn like he is in the new books and not just the old ones people wish is still cannon. I hope the grysk are coming in some way and thrawn is just looking for a way to stop them, since he barely won his first encounter with them.
