Sonic 2 now has the best opening weekend ever for any video game movie, making an astounding $71 Million dollars in the box office! As a lifelong sonic fan I can’t put into words how much this means to me after seeing the franchise go through a pretty long rough patch. Hey it's Patrice, AKA Screen Rants sonic guy, and let's celebrate by going over 25 things you might’ve missed in sonic 2! Also heads up before we get into it, this list is going to be light on the video game references because we’ve got a video dedicated to ALL of those coming soon, I’m mostly going to touch on other easter eggs and references you might have missed! AND MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD!!! Let us know about some of the interesting things you noticed throughout the film in the comments!

Dear god I do not want Amy anywhere in these movies. She’s a trash tier character and annoying as hell. Rogue would be cool, maybe Tikal. I do wonder what they will do with metal sonic, that’s a pretty iconic thing too.

You forgot one! There was sorta a fleetway super sonic in the end “I’m sorry but he’s no longer the sonic you once knew” When sonic is exposed to chaos energy in sonic the comic he becomes a evil yellow hedgehog

An Easter egg that went over a lot of people’s heads was the Rush Hour reference. When Sonic was being scolded by Tom in the boat, he said an exact line that detective Carter said in the first Rush Hour movie. Tom said “you destroyed half a city block.” Then Sonic replies “That block was already messed up.”

I loved the film. It was a good movie. I hope Jim Carry comes back for sonic 3 cause who else can play robotnik as well as he can? If not I hope his retirement goes well.

@@LadyKattrina84 but then what will be the story with shadow? Robotnik meeting shadow to beat sonic is kinda his thing. I mean they are doing original stuff with the human cast to make an interesting story, but how else will Shadow come in if they don’t do what’s in the source material? I hope it works out.

I feel they did these movies right. They do a great job staying true to the source material while making their own version of the Universe. Lot of other Game based movies screw this up big time. Loving the Sonic movies and having fun watching them with the kids. Cant wait until the 3rd one comes out

My hope for the next film is they take the idea of the "fake hedgehog", that there is a Hedgehog out there causing havoc so GUN turns on Sonic. Sonic discovers Shadow and immediately accuses him of being the faker setting him up, the two fight. But the reveal is that the "Fake Hedgehog" wasn't Shadow at all, but Robotnik who has created Metal Sonic using the Sonic Quill, who will then turn on Eggman and use the chaos emeralds to turn into Metal Overlord (so it will borrow from Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic Heroes.) If you can fit Amy and Rogue in there somewhere, go for it, but only if it works for the plot.

That’d be sick. The creators are definitely showing love to the games, it seems like they are true fans. If not Metal Sonic, I hope we see Chaos but doesn’t seem likely.

Funny enough that in the Sonic 2 prequel comic, you can see Vector, Charmy and Espio (you don't see all of Charmy, but you see his antennae). Is this a hint that they're going to be appearing in the movies?

One thing I found was that in the bar scene, tails’ translator not exactly working might be a reference to sonic colours where the exact same thing happens with him and yacker

I think robotnik turning green may have been a reference to when scourge and knuckles both turn green in 2 different situations

You missed one. When egg mans assistente was holding the extrusions for the giant robot it strongly looks like the box art of the sega genius games.

13:55 Is Charmy also there? Next to Vector are these little two sticks with stripes on them. I point it out because Charmy's design (specifically his antennas) also have stripes! :D

Hey, when you mentioned the Chaotix you forgot to mention that if you look closely you can see Charmy's Antenna (which you definitely can with the shot you were using.)

The way Sonic says "this whole time" in the line "You've known about me this whole time?" is a nod to the _Sonic Boom_ episode "It Takes a Village to Destroy a Hedgehog," specifically the line "Tails, so help me, if you've been confusing L-brackets and T-brackets this whole time..."

There was a lando calrssian reference when we see Rachel's fiancee say, "you got a lot of nerve showing up here after what you did to my wife". I think it mirrors what lando says when he sees Han in the empire strikes back, his character also just screams lando also.

One thing I noticed was the "hairdos" sonic has in the party scene, when he's in the bathroom styling his quills. That also leeds to the skateboard.(which is a nod to several branches of the sonic multivirs. The hair bit is identical to the looks of his brother and sister.(you know. That time when he had a band... and a mother that was alive)

Maybe worth knowing but the first point is somewhat incorrect, fleetway is not the only occurrence of a 'Super' Robotnik The cartoon Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog also had this. While the series is bonkers and its versions of the Chaos Emeralds are pretty 'unique' they are still the Chaos Emeralds and he does indeed go super in the final episodes 'Supreme High Robotnik' it's uh sure something haha

Just so you know, the movie and the one comic is not the only time robotnik goes super. He actually goes "super" in the adventures of sonic the hedgehog cartoon series. There was a series of episodes were robotnik went back in time to get all the chaos emeralds, and when he got all of them, he became: "the supreme high robotnik".

In your next video PLEASE notice the Mike Pollock voice clip. It's when Eggman is about to step on Sonic. The line is " You can't BEAT ME!" That line right there is Mike's voice. Mike voices Eggman in the sonic x anime and games. I feel like noone caught that.

Olive Garden actually didn’t sponsor the Sonic movie at all. XD According to writers Pat Casey and Josh Miller in an interview, they included it purely for the gift card joke, and thought it would be funny. They had no idea people would only interpret it as a product placement, which honestly, how could you not? XD

You forgot the Sonic X references. The two I know for a fact are when Super Sonic busts through the giant Eggman robot's foot, which is exactly how it was in the season 1 finale of Sonic X, and Knuckles punching the baseball to get a home run was another season 1 reference.

As much of a sonic fan as i am i get asked whicj character i wana see most. Now that shadow is revealed its changed to Cream surprisingly enough. But mainly because if you get Cream, you most likely get Cheese and if you get Cheese you get chao's (the little blue homies and little chaos could mean the water beast Chaos :D

7:00 - Given the fact that it was established that the Echidna tribe was outright destroyed soon after Sonic left his world (probably almost immediately), and it looked like they had a clear upper hand against Longclaw's tribe, something akin to Chaos might have been responsible. Or it could've been something else, given that the Master Emerald was already on Earth by then.

hey could it be that the baseball game with Knuckles being hesitant at first be a reference to Sonic X episode where Knuckles doesnt want to play baseball but ends up trying anyways and also loves wining
