Christopher Nolan is one of the best directors working today, and one of the few filmmakers who still makes high budget original movies. With movies like Inception, Dunkirk, Interstellar and more under his belt, he’s firmly established himself as one of the most visionary directors of our generation. That being said, TENET is super confusing.
TENET is awesome to look at, but raises a lot of questions. Like what are the exact implications of moving backwards through time? Why is the music so much louder than the vocal tracks? What is going on? Why does The Protagonist spend an hour going from conversation to conversation? Who are those army guys shooting at? This movie makes sense, right?

I kinda fear going into the comment sections of Nolan movies because every thread is just a full on 'exquisite movie taste' warfare on how the guy is the father of directors by die hard fans whom have never watched any other directors' work in their lives. It's the same old formula, time reversal, science, a bit of emotion and Hans Zimmer.

The degree of difficulty on display here in trying to explain the inexplicable while also being funny and entertaining is off the charts good. I imagine Ryan's script would have taken a lot of work to get this tight. A master-class.

OMG!! I LOVED where he put on the LOUD music to explain something important. That was pretty much my entire movie experience. A lot of complicated stuff going on that's explained through conversations that I COULD NOT HEAR! I turned to my roommate to ask "Hey, so am I going deaf, or is the dialog hard to hear? Is it must me?" "No, not just you."

1:45 a logic explanation for this happening in the movie is that the characters can't comprehend the info. They arrive at another place but keep asking "can you explain it once again?" The film just merges the several occassions they need to listen to the same explanation.

I've never thought of that before, I always thought it was just the movie's way of showing the characters getting from one place to another while giving exposition. The convo being split was just weird side effect to be shrugged off cuz "it's a movie" but, that actually makes alot of sense

SNL did a song on Saturday with Ego and Pete Davidson called "LOCO." In it, they're talking about being in the pandemic for a year and how they've gone crazy. This was literally Pattinson about the script: The 1st time I read it, I thought I totally got it. The 2nd time I read it, I thought maybe I jumped the gun. The 3rd time I read it, I got more and more entangled in this puzzle. By the time I was shooting the last scene, I was still asking him (Nolan) fundamental questions about my character. I think my very last question to him was “Am I alive or dead?”

I was already lost at "inverted entropy", it doesn't seems to me like inverting entropy would inverse the flow of time, if anything it would just makes things seek unstable state rather than stable one? Maybe? But then if it's trying to settle in that state it wont be unstable by definition? So it doesn't work... Kinda? So... *noose bleeding* ... Yeah I'll go with "don't think too much about it" I guess.

Indeed, Inception had problems with the consistency of the time flow across dream levels, but otherwise was very understandable. This was just a mess, I gave up part way, which is saying something because I've loved every Nolan film since Batman Begins - well excepting MUUUURRRRRFFFF and Matt Damon's entire character in Interstellar.

Definitely wasn't you. I had to watch it in two parts because when I first watched the first hour I got so infuriated at the fact that I had to go back all the time to try to understand what they said that I just opted to turn it off instead. Even though english isn't my first language I consider myself quite fluent and profound in speaking and listening to it and consume pretty much all media in english, however, the mixture of them mumbling (for dramatic purposes I guess as in every movie) and the loud and constant background music made it so exhausting to watch. Hell, I think even in the scene were he meets Kat in front of the school and they simply talk there was this over the top dramatic music playing.

CN: Yes sir, I do Exec: Will you be using the same sound engineers as Interstellar and Tenet? CN: No we won't and I would like to once again apologise for that and it will never happen again. Exec: Will 150 million cover it? It's been a tough year.

Yeah, it seems like Nolan's main goal in life is to test how bad sound he can get away with. The microphones they used in Tenet were terrible. Sound was already pretty bad in Dunkirk, so there must have been someone who's told him to fix that?

I found the pacing all over the place and things he didn't know how to explain he just didn't kinda leaving you unsatisfied IMO. I'm glad I saw it but not something I'll be watching again and again like Batman or inception
